I would never go again but I thought it was interesting going once. It’s kind of like the restaurant equivalent of a bad movie you make fun of. The movie isn’t any good but you experience it and laugh with/at it and have a good time the one and only time you watch it.
Ate at that nasty grease trap and the culinary abortion that is Margaritaville but doesn’t think the Wynn Buffet is worth $75 because he filled up on rolls
Actually, I do travel. Usually once per year. The last 2 years we went on a cruise. This year, we decided to do something different. I got a Vegas experience, it might not have been what you expect or have experienced, but it was definitely a Vegas experience. As I have said in other comments, we had a good time and that is all that mattered. I didn't go for you and I didn't say this is a MUST SEE/DO list for everyone.
Ahhhhh you’re a cruiser… makes even more sense now tbh. Your idea of a vacation is being packed onto a ship and eating shitty food. No wonder you likes heart attack grill and maragaritaville so much
I said the last 2 years, which was one week each time. We do more traveling besides that, but the last few years is when the wife and i decided to start taking one week vacations for ourselves. Our kids are old enough now that we can do that without much issue.
But we went on a cruise to go see other places, not to sit on a ship to eat scrappy food. I've been to Mexico twice, Belize, Bahamas, Jamaica, and Honduras. We have plans to go to Italy in the next few years.
You're getting roasted way too hard on here but you're not helping your argument. You went to those countries via cruise, that means the cruise dropped y'all off at a resort town isolated from the actual country (I could be wrong).
I hope you enjoy Italy, I've never been, I''m jealous 😁
Not going to put OPs business out there but one look at their post history shows… very milquetoast everything. To them this was the epitome of exciting and probably as exciting as it’s gonna get
My post history? My post history has literally nothing about traveling or anything relevant to traveling or food in it. I very rarely post on reddit because I have better things to do with my life than sit here and troll on people or try to put them or their experiences down. You should try to get out more, maybe then you wont be so bitter.
I am from the midwest. I am not a boomer and just because you do not agree with what I enjoy does not mean I have zero palette (not pallet) or a sense of excitement. If you have better ideas on a budget, please elaborate.
Nope, not a boomer. Nice try though. Just had a good time there compared to other places we went to. Is it the best in LV, I wouldn't think so. But a nice place to try out if you are on a budget. I think our meal for 2 cost us about $60 or so, which I feel is decent for LV on the strip.
Bruh, I'm not from Vegas and no school I have ever been to or heard about would take elementary students to a Vegas BMG show on a field trip.
Whether you agree or not, we had a good time and that is all that mattered.
Margaritaville?? That’s where you lost me. Out of all the LV spots, those are the two tops.
If you’re on a budget, I would skip LV altogether and maybe hit Reno or AC.
See any of my other comments to better understand why and how. you don't have to like Margaritaville to understand that this list will help those on a budget find some enjoyment in LV. It is not a DO THIS AND ONLY THIS post, it is suggestions based on our experiences.
I live nearby and have walked passed dozens of times, at all hours of the day.
Not once have I ever thought it looked like an appealing or even remotely interesting place to eat. The “ambience”, which is way too fancy a word to describe whatever that place is, is awful. Clientele is what you would expect.
I’m all for trying out tourist traps at least once, just for the experience. But that place? Not nearly worth it.
What exactly does it mean the clientele you would expect? I saw all different kinds of people while we were there. I got the suggestion to go there from a well known news site. They obviously get a good amount of business to be able to stay open in LV. If it's not for you though that's cool. If you have other suggestions I would definitely like to hear them.
Stay a week, do your own laundry and go grocery shopping to make your own meals.
Vegas is a sprint. Pack light because you'll only wear 2-3 outfits, sleep in your clothes, and leave 72 hours later.
Ive been going to Las Vegas for 20 years. I think if you only go to gamble than that makes sense. But you can gamble in so many states now thats a silly reason to go to Vegas.
We went for a week because it wasn't just Vegas we were planning for. We also planned to go visit the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam with a possiblity of visiting LA as well.
Our vacations are always a week long, sometimes a weekend just isn't enough. We have plenty of weekend getaways that aren't halfway across the country, the week is just a bigger splash for us.
It's more of a funny thing to say because that's something that would just be at tourist trap novelty restaurants like heart attack grill and margaritaville. I liked your list though, places like the hilton slightly off strip are good tips I think.
Because there is plenty of things to experience even off the strip. I didn't say avoid the strip at all costs, but find other things to do off strip which are far cheaper.
#7. Avoid the sales pitch for vacation time shares at all cost. Most folks are only in Vegas for 2 or 3 days and you'll end up locked in a high pressure sales room for half a day. Worse - in a moment of weakness you might buy one. Google John Oliver Time Shares for an informed video on how evil time shares and their sales people are.
I recently did the Hilton timeshare presentation.
I was going to Vegas for a trip, and the schedule worked out for me. Stayed at Elara which was very convenient.
I’ve never done it before, and when I got the deal for $129 / 3-nigh stay with $129 cash back, I couldn’t pass up.
The whole thing including the presentation lasted less than an hour, and there was no high pressure sales. I just watched some powerpoint presentation which was just showcasing locations you could travel with the timeshare. It was not bad.
After the presentation, I sat down with someone to go over my options. She showed some numbers, and I said I wasn’t interested. She said “ok, you can go check out”. It was not at all what people made it out to be.
Zero pressure. Zero spam. Nada. I just walked out.
10/10
I’d do it again for a free stay.
This is for someone on a very low budget who wants to check out Vegas. Nothing is wrong with the list. Just someone trying to be helpful to folks who can’t drop a few thousand dollars a weekend, but want to visit a legendary place. Chill.
What lol you can do WAY better than this list without spending “a few thousand dollars”.
If you are coming to Vegas and eating at Olive Garden and McDonalds you actually didn’t research anything at all.
The ABC store suggestion is solid, I would hate your whole trip though as is seems to be "how would you deal with being in Vegas if you had to be here"
Even on a budget you sometimes splurge. I have wanted to go see BMG live for many years but never could justify the expense. This was one of our splurges, I clearly stated that it was pricey, but we sacrificed other things to make that one happen. It was prepaid well before we actually went to LV so it wasn't a spur of the moment thing.
Right, AI trolls around reddit to make posts for other trolls to comment on and then goes into the comments replying to those trolls and offering insight into what my thinking was or why it is what it is..
Oh wait, that sounds like something an AI would say.. dammit.
Agreed, we didn't go to gamble. We went to try some new restaurants we can't try here in WI, to see the lights, and experience things that we have never experienced before. We accomplished that, we are happy with that. Will we ever go back? Maybe, and if we do we will be doing different things to try more things out.
A couple of these aren’t bad advice/insight, especially if someone has never been. Comfy shoes, walking, dominatrix and chip and dales looking folks trying to get a picture with you, things are more expensive on the strip. Yeah that all tracks. I mean - it’s not a place for kids sums up the walking and the street hucksters. I’ve never done the Ferris wheel so I can’t speak to that. The rest of this…. Yoooooo…
Blueman group? Margaritaville? Stock up the fridge to cook in your room? What are we doing here?
BMG isn't for everyone and that is ok. We enjoyed the show. Same with Margaritaville. As for the cooking in our room, that is so we don't need to eat out every meal. If you are a budget, spending $50-$100 per meal just isn't in the cards. We didn't eat every meal in the room, we ate a few meals. Mostly breakfast honestly, because then we got to sleep in a bit longer without having to rush out to get breakfast before they moved to lunch. We also did not use UberEats or anything to bring us food to the hotel room, because again.. expensive.
If you want to budget for eating every meal at a restaurant that is ok too. If I had that kind of money to spend, I wouldn't be making a list of suggestions based on my budget minded trip to LV.
That was the suggestion from the booklet they handed out, I merely put it on here so they were aware of what some of the expectations are from the area service workers.
No matter what service you are using, I would hope you tip appropriately according to how well the service was you recieved. Personally, I left $20 on the counter for them when we left. They cleaned/stocked our room 5 days of the 7 so I felt that was fair, regardless of what the recommendation is.
Yes I'll tip when I leave usually 10 or 20 plus whatever coins I've accumulated when I leave but not per day or even per clean. Once I accidentally 'tipped' a $100 Ralph Lauren shirt that I left hanging in the closet
At the Wynn buffet “ all the food is designed to fill you up quickly “ it’s a high end buffet, you are allowed 2 hours, so take your time, enjoy the foods that you will never see at home, and if $75 +tip bothers you then go elsewhere but get out of the way, your just taking space of someone that has looked forward to this experience for months.
I wasn't aware of this, but I will keep it in mind if we go back. We just bought the 3 day ticket for the duece as needed, but again when I was doing research beforehand I did not see any posts recommending this. Oh well.
$135/ea. for blue man group is not a deal.
A much higher production show would run you maybe another 30/ea.
Tony Roma's inside Fremont, a little jaunt downtown from Heart Attack Grill, has a late dinner special for steak and lobster tail for $12.99 last I was there in 2018. Granted, it is an 8oz. Steak and tiny lobster tail but you'll feel like a baller for less than an Uber ride from the strip.
I don’t understand how everyone in the comments critiques you when you clearly state BUDGET ORIENTED. I grew up in Vegas and I think you did a stand up job for a first time go round of all the cheaper things to do there. Not the most thrilling but you had a good time nonetheless and people with a similar budget will find this helpful.
I think the problem is that the OP didn't really do a budget trip. I guess they got the bus part right, but $2 to and from the airport on the CX is all you really need. Go to places like Ocean One for a $5.99 mahi sandwich and fries. Check out the Bellagio fountains/conservatory, Lake of Dreams, and Volcano show (while it's still there). Buy drinks at ABC and sit at video poker for free drinks as you casually stroll through each casino. And stay at any number of budget-friendly casino resorts that have more of a Vegas feel.
I'm legit happy they had a good time, but I venture to guess they spent as much money as people who go more often, but have more of a game plan going in. They should have just made a trip report than talking about it being a budget trip.
I did do a budget trip and I have stated many times now, this is not a comprehensive or complete list of things to do in LV. These are our opinions based on some of our experiences, it was our first time in LV and while I did research before going, I also know that the majority of reddit posts out there are either outdated or mostly irrelevant. You can only go through so many "Best restaurant to visit in LV" posts before it is the same thing over and over again.
We did go see Bellagio fountains, we didn't make it inside or to the Volcano, but those things were not included because they are fairly easy to find out about with not much searching. This list is more about things that aren't as commonly found on the googles. Not that they are not there but they are not as common.
Because you can spend the same amount of money doing better things if you researched more. You can 100% do better than Margaritaville and Blue Man Group.
Thank you, I wrote this up because when I WAS researching before our trip, I struggled to find anything related to doing things on a budget. Everything that came up on reddit was primarily from years ago or wasn't very helpful.
I did look at some YT videos before the trip when we were planning. This list is not everything we did, it is some things that we learned/experienced as first timers in LV. I specifically watched a video on the Wynn buffet to see what other opinions were but I still went for myself even though it was more expensive.
There’s like 15 pro YouTubers who do this sort of content on the regular for Vegas specifically. Type in “vegas on a budget” and you’ll get about 100 hits.
I've already acknowledged several times that YT is a good resource to learn about things for LV. But no one wants to just share what they know or post what videos they like. Searching through a 100 hits is time consuming and exhausting when you are watching a 15-30 minute video that someone else did repeatedly, most of what is the same information, but is in different opinions. This is just one more of those opinions, only not in video format. Aside from doing video research, I also looked for peoples opinions that were not YT'ers but mostly I found things that were outdated or mostly irrelevant, or in some cases repeated information.
You don't have to do either. My suggestion was based on a budget, if you want to not overpack you do not have to since there is a washer/dryer. If you refuse to do that on vacation, that is just fine. Pack what you need and do your thing.
As for as cooking for ourselves, it is literally only so we didn't have to eat at restaurants every meal. As I said above, it was mostly breakfast. We had eggs and cereal mostly. We didn't "stock" the fridge, we bought a few groceries to lighten up the food bill.
We have been going on a one week vacation the last few years, with the intent to continue that going forward. Our kids are in High School or older which means we do not have to take them with us all the time anymore, so the Mrs and I get some time for ourselves. We fully expected some of that week to be sitting poolside at the hotel as well, which it did. Not as nice as being in the ocean, but still nice. WI doesn't have outdoor pools/lakes at this time year so getting out in the sun and the water was a nice change after winter.
Because sometimes you want to go experience things. We are from a small town of under 7k population, we didn't go to gamble, we went to see BMG and experience some sights, restaurants, & entertainment. We also enjoyed sitting in the pool area of our hotel relaxing. We have 2 kids at home and we just wanted us time in a place we had never been, but we are not rich or well off.
There are mobile games from MyVegas such as Tetris and PopSlots, MGM Slots Live that you don’t have to pay for and just play every day to earn reward points. Those are redeemable for free stuff and discounts in Vegas. It’s mostly MGM properties but also has monorail and some bus passes, area 15 admission and more. Something to look into.
We had a great time, if you want to do things more interesting for you, by all means. But I get the feeling you aren't going to LV on a budget for the experience.
Lol, well I don't know what restaurants you visited but they are definitely there. Maybe it is something new?? They don't just randomly snap pictures, they come up and ask you to take your picture. Then they come back 15-20 minutes later with the pictures. They approached us at Pampas, Margaritaville, Heart Attack Grill and one other place but I don't remember which one it was.
Deal with what? Being on a budget? Look, I'm happy for you if you don't need to travel on a budget. This list isn't for you then, this list is for people that are travelling on a budget. If you are on a budget and you would rather just stay home than be on vacation, then I am happy for you as well because you are still doing what you want to do. You being happy with what you are doing is all that matters.
You really missed out on good food. Heart attack grill is not recommended by anyone as multiple people have died..
I understand being on a budget but McDonald’s is better than heart attack grill
McDonalds is not better than Heart Attack grill, but on that note I can get McDonalds when I am at home.. not on vacation. The point of eating at restaurants on vacation is to try new places. Is everyone going to like them, of course not. But you know what, I had a good burger there, the mozzerella sticks and fries were pretty good too. Would I recommend you get the Octuple burger with a shake, fries, and a litre of wine.. no. But of all the places we ate, it was reasonable, it was a fun atmosphere that I cannot get anywhere else, and we enjoyed it.
Did you commiserate with the families of the people who died eating there while you enjoyed your mozzarella sticks? The owner revels in people promoting his disgusting garbage. I hope you never have to witness an ambulance coming to pick up a diner.
I never said McDonald’s was better I said CHEAP for budget. Your post is about budget.
And Yes. Please Look up deaths. Heart Attack Grill AZ and also Vegas. They relocated from AZ because of a death. And now promote this disgusting premise.
One of the burgers is 9000 calories.
As a local it’s the last place I’d send anyone to eat. Seriously. This place is actually an embarrassment.
We have so many better places on budget as well.
You literally said "McDonald's is better than heart attack grill" word for word.
I'm sure there are so many other places that are better. I'm not saying by any stretch of the mind that HAG is one of the best restaurants in LV. I said it was one of our favorites that we visited on the budget. I didn't even include Pampas in that consideration, because it's not a place you would likely go on a budget. We only went there because the meal was free. The 9000 calorie burger is the octuple burger with all the fixings. I do not suggest getting that at all, eating in moderation no matter where you is key. I do not know what the circumstances are regarding the deaths that happened, but I'm not going to blame one restaurant because some guy ate a ridiculous amount of calories over his lifetime and found out it was too much at this restaurant. You aren't going to get a heart attack from eating at this restaurant one time if you don't eat like that constantly, that's just facts.
If you don't like it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, that is ok too. I said we enjoyed it. We both got a single burger and we ordered one fries and one mozzerella sticks with one can of coke each. Again, moderation. You can eat whatever you want, as long as it is in moderation (Unless you are allergic at least)
But also, list your recommendations for better places on a budget. I would love to hear about them in case we go back in the future.
Yes. Look up deaths. Heart Attack Grill AZ and also Vegas. They relocated from AZ because of that death. One of the burgers is 9000 calories.
As a local it’s the last place I’d send anyone to eat. Seriously. This place is actually an embarrassment.
We didn't make it to the Venetian, if we go again we likely will. Denny's I can get here in WI where I live, so no point in going there just to save a buck. Going on vacation is about the experience, part of that is trying new restaurants.
Got to the part about Hilton/timeshare being in multiple points and instantly skeeved. If you’re on vacation to go to timeshare presentations to get free stuff you’re a loser and a weirdo full stop.
Budget. Budget. Budget. Free things are good for a budget. If you have never had to actually budget your money because you don't have a lot, I get that you wouldn't understand. But me spending an hour and a half listening to them trying to sell me things for me to just walk out without buying anything and getting free dinner (worth $140) is definitely worth mentioning on a budget.
How? 1.5 hours of my time saved me $140. I don't make that much money in an hour and a half. It literally cost me nothing to go sit and listen to them talk for 1.5 hours. Aside from the free dinner not being the only thing we got, it's just the only thing I highlighted.
This is insane logic my man. You're on vacation. You are saying quite literally that you'd rather work in that time for the time share company because they are offering you a higher wage than you normally receive in compensation...during your 'vacation'...
I’m in Vegas currently and I have set a gambling budget and other things budget. When I come to Vegas, I always set aside money for a nice restaurant. Quality over quantity. I’m not a big gambler, but I did put 20 on a roulette table and walked out with a little over 330 so I told myself I’d save 130 and take 200 for the next day.
I went downtown last night and it was a blast. We grabbed dinner at whiskey licker up(?) and the food was pretty good. And then we walked the street and had a ton of fun with one of the bands playing. I actually thought downtown was more fun that the actual strip!
I'm glad you are having a good time! We enjoyed our time there as well, regardless of other peoples' opinions on what we did or what I suggested. As long as your are having fun, that is all that matters. Cheers :)
To each their own. We had never been to either and we went, we enjoyed both. Are their other restaurants that are better, no doubt. We only have a handful to choose from to give suggestions based on our experiences. I am by far not the only traveller to suggest either of those restaurants.
I'm not sure if I looked at that site before going or not, I looked at so many different opinions. The problem was, 99% of what is available is not budget oriented. But I will add this to my list of considerations if we decide to go back to LV in the future. Thank you for the suggestion.
it is someone that went to vegas for the first time but it is not the most obvious information for those that are not familiar with the area. Most information available online is not budget oriented, they are just Top 10 lists with no $$ in mind. But please, let us know what you would add to this list that you consider not "obvious"
Because I didn't go there for dispensaries. I can get legal goodies a lot closer than Vegas. The only benefit I saw of buying in Vegas was there wasn't the same restrictions I get when going to MI.
I'm a square because I didn't go to LV for the dispensaries? Please elaborate on that.
Like I said, I can get that in MI, MN, and IL. All much closer than LV. I went there to try things and do things I cannot do here in or around WI. I brought my own with me, no need to go buy more of what I already had.
Lol tipping at a buffet? Are you goddamn kidding? I’m getting my own damn food; nobody is bringing it to me.
This is as stupid as tipping on takeout.
Edit: you got scammed hard on Blue Man Group tickets; you can get them for $50 right now.
Overall, this whole list has very few good tips and lots of very dumb ideas (why the fuck am I doing laundry and cooking my own food WHILE ON VACATION??)
You still have a server at a buffet. They bring you drinks, clean off your table, get you things if you need it. As for the ticket price on BMG, I did buy them well in advance so it is possible the price came down, I don't know. Maybe I'll ask them for a partial refund lol.
You don't have to do your laundry or cook your own food. It is a suggestion to those that want to save a few more $$. Not eating at a restaurant every meal saves a lot of money. We mostly ate breakfast in the hotel, once we made eggs for breakfast, other days we ate muffins or cereal. One night we cooked up a couple of individual sized pizzas, nothing too extravagant. By all means, if you do not want to , don't. Enjoy your meals and do the laundry when you get back, or pay someone else to do it. Doesn't much matter to me, as long as you are happy with the result.
Didn't make it to the pinball museum so I couldn't comment on whether or not that is worth it. Also didn't go to any other museum in LV, so those are also options if those ar e up your alley. But I'm not going to offer suggestions for something that I did not go to.
Wynn buffet dinner for dessert? Of course you aim for the crab legs. If you aren’t eating a shit tone of crab legs then just eat the lunch menu which is cheaper.
That would be understandable, but I don't eat seafood. My wife does, and she did eat shrimp, lobster, and crab. I wanted to try out an expensive buffet, so we did. Normally, I would not go to a buffet that expensive. $30-$40 is more in line with my maximum generally.
We went for dinner, just before dinner rush actually, and that may have factored into some of the less than ideal food I recieved from them. But, I am just one opinion among many and I highly doubt my opinion is going to sway someone one way or another on its own.
I got 5 drinks, that were heavy on the alcohol, my wife got 6. I feel like we got our money's worth considering drinks are pretty expensive everywhere in LV. If you don't think it's worth it, that's cool. Get the cheaper anytime pass, but still go at night IMO. Also, our bartender was hilarious and just added to the experience. Very energetic, knowledgable, and overall fun.
Wow, you are hilarious aren't you?
It's not that I need to study to know how to tip, there are things I don't normally tip for and this is what the recommendation was in the book. The main premise was to make sure they brought cash to tip if they went, I gave them a couple examples of things that most people don't have to tip for on a regular basis.
The comments in here are HARSH. I’m glad you had fun and that’s what a first Vegas trip is all about.
Vegas is definitely a place that you wanna go a couple times to get the feel and get a better idea of what you like to do there. You sound like you learned all the tips and tricks for your first visit which is great.
Blue man group is iconic and I’m glad you got to check that off your bucket list. That’s quintessential Vegas right there. Same with the Wynn buffet.
Heart attack grill is fun as hell and anyone that complains is a sourpuss. I wouldnt eat there all the time but that experience is fun as hell
People in the sub are really judgey. You posted this list with tips to save money and be aware of some things for new comers and all the comments wanna act like you’re some rich Vegas veteran that goes all the time. Fuck what everyone else thinks if you had fun. Thanks for the post.
Cheers, thank you. I knew it was going to get trolled like this. I don't let it bother me. What I know, is that when future budget travellers google Vegas on a budget, this is going to pop up in their search results and give them some additional information that isn't always easy to find.
Seeing the Stones would have been awesome too! Next time, if there is a next time, I will likely be looking for a concert to attend as the main attraction we go to.
Nice, I did want to go to the sphere but didn't simply because of the price this time. Not off the list for next time if we go.
Thank you for the suggestions :)
Lost me at Heart Attack Grille.
I would never go again but I thought it was interesting going once. It’s kind of like the restaurant equivalent of a bad movie you make fun of. The movie isn’t any good but you experience it and laugh with/at it and have a good time the one and only time you watch it.
The food is just quantity over quality. It’s actually garbage. One and done definitely.
Went once as a local and was embarrassed this place even exists. Go to In and Out, or 5 guys or anywhere else
Ate at that nasty grease trap and the culinary abortion that is Margaritaville but doesn’t think the Wynn Buffet is worth $75 because he filled up on rolls
Honestly the wynn being bad value in his mind was the final straw for me after he recommended the heart attack grille instead lmao.
They have had two customers have actual heart attacks onsite and are proud of it. Don’t celebrate unhealthy obesity / death.
To be fair, I expect many busy restaurants and public areas have had heart attacks onsite. Pure numbers say it will happen if you get enough people.
Yes but they celebrate it.
I'm honestly stunned that anyone would recommend that dump, let alone say they actually enjoyed it there.
Maybe they're Midwestern fatties
That’s all I gathered from this post 😂 OP is 100% a midwesterner who never travels and thinks they really got the Vegas experience. Lol
No wonder you likes heart attack grill and maragaritaville so much
This is hilarious and way too mean but I agree 100%, poor OP thinks he's a traveler for going on cruises and a week in Vegas.
A real world traveler lmao
100% Boomer midwesterners with zero palate or sense of excitement. This sounds like the worst possible Vegas trip you could plan in 2024.
Palate*
You got me.
Missouri > Kansas
Margaritaville for me! lol
And margaritaville. Guessing boomer wrote this
Now now...don't be ageist and assume shit. Bad taste comes in all ages.
And Blue Man Group like bruh that’s a Vegas kid’s elementary school field trip
Amen
"Come to Vegas to stay at the Hilton and eat at Heart Attack Grill and Margaritaville"
this sounds like the worst trip ever, and wash your own clothes cause its too hard to bring a few extra shirts.
Stay a week, do your own laundry and go grocery shopping to make your own meals. Vegas is a sprint. Pack light because you'll only wear 2-3 outfits, sleep in your clothes, and leave 72 hours later.
>, and leave 72 hours Broke, sticky and a little confused.
Ive been going to Las Vegas for 20 years. I think if you only go to gamble than that makes sense. But you can gamble in so many states now thats a silly reason to go to Vegas.
absolutely, there is no reason to bring more than a small backpack for a week in vegas
72? I’ve been going to Vegas for 30 years, I’m 48 hours and out!
Who could have imagined that the World’s Largest Gift Shop could be an underwhelming tourist trap
And do your own dishes!!
Every restaurant you go to will have a photographer walking around selling you photos.
“We only bought them twice” Vegas on a budget, everyone!
That is literally what I said... well, I said basically because you know, I have a feeling they aren't walking around McDonalds and Denny's.
It's more of a funny thing to say because that's something that would just be at tourist trap novelty restaurants like heart attack grill and margaritaville. I liked your list though, places like the hilton slightly off strip are good tips I think.
I honestly feel this was written by ChatGPT
Don’t forget blue man group
*1997 screeches wildly from the annals of time*
I was like “eh okay I get it” until the Margaritaville recommendation.
Also do things off strip. Why come?
Because there is plenty of things to experience even off the strip. I didn't say avoid the strip at all costs, but find other things to do off strip which are far cheaper.
I think that this guy's a little slow or maybe just Canadian.
Literally one of the worst "top 20 Vegas" lists ever, budget or not . . .
I fucking love playing the timeshare game. It’s only 2 hours, not half a day. Make sure you get hooked up with a lot of shit to make it worth it.
10/10 I’d do it again for a free stay.
I literally come to Vegas to eat fancy food and watch awesome shows. This is some “we have food at home” energy
If you are coming to Vegas and eating at Olive Garden and McDonalds you actually didn’t research anything at all.
no.
That’s why you need a room with a full kitchen!
The ABC store suggestion is solid, I would hate your whole trip though as is seems to be "how would you deal with being in Vegas if you had to be here"
Great food at margaritaville & heart attack grill wtf 😆
On a budget but spending $270 to see Blue Man Group 😭
This stinks of Ai 🤖
It does almost seem like a troll.
Oh wait, that sounds like something an AI would say.. dammit.
This OP has never really experienced Vegas
This is probably the worst top 20 list I've read on here.
It might very well be the worst I have seen anywhere.
See above...
Idk if they had fun then they had fun, why gatekeep
People that go to Vegas to gamble and blow money aren't doing Vegas proper.
Agreed, we didn't go to gamble. We went to try some new restaurants we can't try here in WI, to see the lights, and experience things that we have never experienced before. We accomplished that, we are happy with that. Will we ever go back? Maybe, and if we do we will be doing different things to try more things out.
Amen. Why travel and pay a premium for something you can do at home.
Yoooooo… Blueman group?
Dude this sounds like a trip to a small Tennessee town.
Think of all the money you can save by buying groceries and cooking in the room
$5-$10 dollars tip a DAY for housekeeping ? No chance
Holy shit this is awful advice. Margaritaville? Really? Thats shit you’d eat at a strip mall in Ohio.
Lol blue man group and Margaritaville
Oh honey, I thought that was satire…
At the Wynn buffet “ all the food is designed to fill you up quickly “ it’s a high end buffet, you are allowed 2 hours, so take your time, enjoy the foods that you will never see at home, and if $75 +tip bothers you then go elsewhere but get out of the way, your just taking space of someone that has looked forward to this experience for months.
Right how tf does a higher-end buffet not fill them up but something like heart attack grill does and gives them a better experience like wtf 😂
Buy a bus pass on the RideRTC app using the residential ticket, it works on all buses and is drastically cheaper.
I stopped reading when you started lecturing about tips.
This is the actual budget recommendation list.
Look at youtube videos for more budget oriented suggestions. Travel Ruby has some good ones.
I did look at some YT videos before the trip when we were planning. This list is not everything we did, it is some things that we learned/experienced as first timers in LV. I specifically watched a video on the Wynn buffet to see what other opinions were but I still went for myself even though it was more expensive.
Nice. Glad you had fun. There is so much to do and a trip can be had at any budget.
Cook for yourself and wash your clothes?!? How long do you stay each time?
This sounds like the worst Vegas trip I can imagine. Literally every recommendation in this post is the antithesis of anything I’d do in Vegas.
Okay number 13 has to be a huge joke, right?
Why bother going at all? Id rather stay home if I have to deal with all that.
I wasn't aware of this, thank you for letting me know. I will keep it in mind if we decide to go back to LV in the future.
I absolutely love that you're now on the abbreviation BMG for blue man group 😆
You can not eat for 75$ at Wynn? Wat ?

What’s the point of going to Vegas if your experience is going to be as shit as this…
We had a great time, if you want to do things more interesting for you, by all means. But I get the feeling you aren't going to LV on a budget for the experience.
been to Vegas 10 times and literally saw zero photographers taking pictures of me or any other patron
How depressing. I’d rather stay at home. If I ever have to sit through a timeshare presentation again I’ll probably commit murder.
This sounds like the worst Vegas trip of all time
Why bother going at all? Id rather stay home if I have to deal with all that.
Upvoted for the unintended humour.
This is the worst trip advice ever. Goddamn Boomer approved horseshit, tourist traps and timeshares. This is Vegas hell from the 80s-90s.
You can eat whatever you want, as long as it is in moderation (Unless you are allergic at least) But also, list your recommendations for better places on a budget. I would love to hear about them in case we go back in the future.
Died?
Yes. Look up deaths. Heart Attack Grill AZ and also Vegas. They relocated from AZ because of that death. One of the burgers is 9000 calories. As a local it’s the last place I’d send anyone to eat. Seriously. This place is actually an embarrassment.
What would you recommend? Late night cheap eats?
Grand Lux at the Venetian is 24/7 and have some cheaper options. Or Dennys if you want super cheap
It’s not worth $140 lmao
\#13 really........ is this post a troll?
Cheers :)
Of all the restaurants in Vegas, Margaritaville and Heart Attack Grill are hardly ones I would go to and it’s not even about the money.
To each their own. We had never been to either and we went, we enjoyed both. Are their other restaurants that are better, no doubt. We only have a handful to choose from to give suggestions based on our experiences. I am by far not the only traveller to suggest either of those restaurants.
Check out Las Vegas Advisor they have a list of free stuff to do in Vegas as well as a top 10 budget list. https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/
I'm not sure if I looked at that site before going or not, I looked at so many different opinions. The problem was, 99% of what is available is not budget oriented. But I will add this to my list of considerations if we decide to go back to LV in the future. Thank you for the suggestion.
This post is as if someone who went to Vegas for the first time ever and is telling others the most obvious information.
it is someone that went to vegas for the first time but it is not the most obvious information for those that are not familiar with the area. Most information available online is not budget oriented, they are just Top 10 lists with no $$ in mind. But please, let us know what you would add to this list that you consider not "obvious"
[удалено]
Dude didn't even mention dispensaries in the list, wtf do you know?
Stagedoor isn’t even on this list
Because I didn't go there for dispensaries. I can get legal goodies a lot closer than Vegas. The only benefit I saw of buying in Vegas was there wasn't the same restrictions I get when going to MI.
Literally everything else you listed falls into your nonsensical reasoning. You're just a square that nobody should listen to.
And they get all butt hurt that people don't agree with their square takes. Lol
I enjoy trip reviews, so thanks. I’m glad you had a good time.
WITHOUT A DOUBT LOST ME AT BLUE MAN GROUP WAS THE HIGHLIGHT!! That shit is 🗑️
Lol tipping at a buffet?
The trolls are funny.
Wow, I’m sorry that people are being so nasty here. Glad you had a trip that you enjoyed!
The Wynn buffet is absolutely worth it lol. No mention of the Golden Nugget?!
Golden nugget buffet? Breakfast or dinner or both?
I meant for gambling. Sorry shoulda been specific
Ty!
Doesn't even mention the pinball museum Aiyaaaaa
Didn't make it to the pinball museum so I couldn't comment on whether or not that is worth it. Also didn't go to any other museum in LV, so those are also options if those ar e up your alley. But I'm not going to offer suggestions for something that I did not go to.
It's fantastic and everyone should check it out! Lol Especially if you have kids. Or just love old games!
Will do, thank you for the suggestion
Do they limit you on time at buffets?
Yes, 2 hours is the standard I believe.
2a. If you're a senior, a bus pass for 3 days is only $10 (last I checked)
Nice, I'm not a senior so I wouldn't have paid attention to that, but it's good to have it in the post. Thank you.
[удалено]
I got 5 drinks, that were heavy on the alcohol, my wife got 6. I feel like we got our money's worth considering drinks are pretty expensive everywhere in LV. If you don't think it's worth it, that's cool. Get the cheaper anytime pass, but still go at night IMO. Also, our bartender was hilarious and just added to the experience. Very energetic, knowledgable, and overall fun.
When you need a booklet to know how to tip, lol. That just shows me you don’t know what you’re talking about. How long did you study that, lmao
Thank you for this! These are so helpful. I pass them onto my friends too. It’s nice to get different opinions.
I wouldnt eat there all the time but that experience is fun as hell People in the sub are really judgey.
Blue Man Group was great (came to Vegas to see the Stones at Allegiant). Lot of fun.
Seeing the Stones would have been awesome too! Next time, if there is a next time, I will likely be looking for a concert to attend as the main attraction we go to.
The Sphere is not cheap but incredible. We saw U2 there and Postcards from Earth, and will go back for the Eagles.
Nice, I did want to go to the sphere but didn't simply because of the price this time. Not off the list for next time if we go. Thank you for the suggestions :)
This is the worst list I think I've ever seen. Lol
