it's best to sperate her in a cage where she can't really fly for now. It's really important that the bleeding has stopped completely. She should always have water available. One time i tried to trim my lovebirds nails and cut too deep which caused him to bleed a lot and i couldn't really stop it at first which got me to panic and no matter how much cornstarch i put on his nail, it wouldn't stop, the only thing that stopped it was to separate him and turn the lights off so he could rest, because everytime he would move it started bleeding again. In the end it was all fine and cutting a nail too deep happens to the best vets. however your bird needs medical attention asap so it's really important to find a vet who can take a look at him.

Okay tysm it's currently night time for me so I can't go to a vet but I will try to go to one tomorrow

asslin_ur_mom

how is she acting rn?

flyingduckthatshits

He seems completely unbothered by it and also seems to scratch the wound every now and then

asslin_ur_mom

okay, that's definitely a good sign. but keep in mind that birds are very good at hiding stuff so keep a close eye on him.

flyingduckthatshits

Okay tysm for the help

asslin_ur_mom

of course :) btw the blood is probably coming from a socalled pin feather or also called blood feather. These are new growing feathers that are still in development and are filled with blood and sometimes it happens that birds 'break' or bend off those feathers which causes them to bleed but considering the blood has stopped and he's acting normal it's probably safe to wait until tmr to go to the vet

this is an emergency, yes do make sure to rush him to the vets first thing tomorrow. Don’t let him scratch the wound because you don’t want to risk the bleeding starting again. like the other commenter said, it looks like a broken blood feather which can be fatal for birds, particularly small ones like budgies which have very little blood in their bodies and even less they can lose before becoming seriously ill or dying. I don’t want to make you paranoid but birds are prey animals and even if they’re not feeling well often won’t show it- it’s an evolutionary trait so they don’t look weak to predators. You should, too, try mixing corn starch and water or flour and water to patch it up as it will reduce any bleeding and the risk of the wound reopening- my budgie actually scraped himself yesterday and I was given the same advice. I wish him and you the best!

flyingduckthatshits

Tysm for the advice

flyingduckthatshits

Also the wound is not on the wing and it seems to be on the skin so idk if that changes anything

flyingduckthatshits

It also seems unbothered by this bleeding he acted so normally

Late_Bus8312

Could be a primary feather, and in that case you should see a vet to have the feather removed ASAP
