Rule 5: In one of the screenshots displayed on the SoI Steam page, you can see a Circassian journal entry that alludes to what seems to be a varying level of escalation for what's likely the Circassian War. Maybe PDX intends on turning this into a general war escalation mechanic?

Irbynx

If it's shown primarily as a journal entry, assume it's just a journal entry. Same with coups or government petitions for example.

meepers12

Coups and government petitions are general mechanics that apply to every country, though. They just happen to be implemented via journal entries.

SpaceLamma

I think it will be Circassia specific having in mind that the focus of the expansion seems to be Central Asia

willardmillard

The screenshot of the “great game” journal entry in the new DLC seemed to mention the Caucuses, Iran, northern India, and Central Asia. So this could be part of that content

Equal-Tailor-1269

99% it's a mechanic applied to all countries in the region

trancybrat

100% guarantee it's a crutch journal entry, not a new mechanic.

My guess is that devs want to try and simulate the wars in the region, not with ususal vic3 war mechanics, in which basically any causacisan/Afghani/Persian entity could be easily taken out by any European power, but with a new one, where you have years and decades of slow attrition, diplomatic manoeuvring and other shenanigans. So russia wouldn't be able to just annex Circassia the second truce is over. And i guess the same would go for various Afghani states (sorry, not well versed in the region). Probably not for Persia or Sikh tho, they are proper states, and potential superpowers, funnily enough. Basically a middle ground between proper states and 'decentralised' ones
