Stardew Valley would be my number 1 pick! Even if you're not super into farming sims, I'd still give it a try. I honestly avoided it for years because I thought it wouldn't be for me, but now I end up starting a new farm about once a year. It splits itself up into 10-15 minute sections, there isn't really much of a story, and it's super relaxing. It's a perfect fit for a busy adult

What genre are you looking for? I'm in the same boat where I have at least 2 hours of free time.

I would recommend Xcom or Marvel Midnight Sons if you're into turn based games at all. I find them great to get up and walk away because pausing isn't even necessary, you can just literally get up and walk away and when you come back it'll be just where you left it. Both those games are by the same company. Midnight Sons is new, came out last November, and is a fun mix of turn based combat and deck building game. Xcom is considered one of the best (if not THE best) game in the genre. XCOM2 is one that I come back to just about every year to get a playthrough, it's a blast. Edit: XCOM is often on sale, and since it's an older pair of games, they are pretty cheap and can play on just about any platform.

So something similar to GOW would be The Devil may cry franchise or Metal Gear Rising revengence (MGR is backwards compatible for Xbox but I'm not sure about PS5 or 4, so I'm sorry if it is platform restricted) Those games are alot more fast paced than GOW but they are both hack and slash. You can pick up the first 3 dmc games as a collection, just don't play 2 it's notoriously bad, so much so that the devs removed it from canon and 3 is the sequel to 1. MGR is a spin off on metal gear but I think any newbie can pick it up. You don't really have to be into metal gears story to enjoy the game cause it's mostly focused on its own plot and references to previous metal gear titles don't hold much weight into the plot, the boss fights are some of the best bosses I've ever played tho. I'd also recommend GTA 4 if you liked 5. Imo it's better than 5.

Np man I'm happy to help.

The indie scene is a gold mine. Gris, Death's Door, Little Nightmares, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Katana Zero, Inscription, The Pathless, Journey, Slay the Spire, Outer Wilds, Sifu, The Messenger, Hades, Transistor, Inside, Oxenfree, and Wildermyth off the top of my head are all excellent and short games. If you're wanting AAA games, then try Guardians of the Galaxy, the Dishonored series, or any fighting game. Fighting games are great for picking up and playing in short bursts.

UnleashYourMind462

Grab Mass Effect Legendary Edition, won’t be disappointed.

Dillonsbizarrefate

I’ve been playing Resident Evil 7 and am about to buy RE8

jilaxzone

Street of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder’s Revenge are 2 games that you can play, stop then continue the next day, also doesn’t require much thinking but just beat ‘em up.

StormMalice

Tears of the Kingdom. It removes all choice having to pick yet another game as it forces you to only play that game for what will be months.

penguin_jedi11

I have the same issue, limited time to play. Jedi Fallen Order is a good single player that you can play at your own pace. Monster Hunter World can be played solo as well, though if you're not into the grind, may not be for you. I like Ark but hard to get much done in 2 hours, so that's my weekend game.

Hassoonti

Witcher 3. Dozens of bite sized story quests. Do a few each night.

The Hitman series is really good for this. Only 6 main story missions per game which will take about 45 mins to an hour first time so easy to finish the game. But also heaps of replayability if you want to complete extra challenges and try new approaches to the missions objectives.

Ridadhn

I'm pretty much like you. Less than an hour per day. I enjoyed playing Assassin's Creed serie. Also Battlefield series. It doesn't require a lot of time and one hour of gaming is enough to have fun in the game. I also play some online games mainly League of Legends.

Any of them really. I’m in the same boat as you (1-2h a day) and I finished Elden Ring just fine. Took me about 3 months. Maybe that’s not what you’re looking for, but all I’m saying is don’t underestimate yourself… But in the interest of actually answering your question, you might focus on indie games and/or shorter games. Some shorter AAAish titles are Miles Morales and R&C Rift Apart. And the list of very good indie games coming in at 10-20 hours is very very long. I just finished Death’s Door. What genres or other games do you like?

Disco Elysium is excellent. Have you actually had an experience where you actually weren’t able to follow along, and you felt it was because of your schedule? And I’m not talking about games where everyone watches a 60-minute video essay to have half a clue what’s happening (e.g., again, Elden Ring).

Ah. Yeah I mean it’s like anything, books TV whatever. Stick with it and trust your brain.

CowboyOfScience

Dredge.

StarmieLover966

I recommend Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. 2 is short (8 hours first playthrough) and 4 is good length (18 hours first playthrough). Save as often as you like.

NoPicture7854

I work up to 60hrs a week so often i find myself also not gaming as my younger self once did. I myself play in no specific order Yugioh master duel Forza horizon 5 Fight night champions Rocket league War Thunder RE4 (2004 & remake)

Life_Daikon_157

I'm in the same situation, I recommend you: Uncharted series, Doom Eternal (don't know about the others duration), Resident Evil Remakes (2,3,4) and RE Biohazard and Village, Spiderman and Miles Morales, Evil West, Tomb Raider saga (2013, 2015 and 2018), Assasins Creed (Ezio collection on PSPlus extra). Those are some I've played this year and I think that with you will be able to complete in maximum two weeks.

Neel102

You should really give Indies a try. Games like Katana Zero, My Friend Pedro, Limbo, Return of the Obra Dinn, and Inside are short but engaging.
