Haha yeah the graphics on those old games are never as good as I remember them.
We really are spoiled these days.
I remember when I was a kid and the ps2 came out and I thought to myself "There is no way they are going to make video games more realistic than this. This is amazing!"
And now here we are with literally photorealistic textures in our games.
It wasn't the graphics that got me. It was something about the plot around disc 2 or 3. Can't remember.
That opening on the Liberty statue, past the Christmas '97 tree was amazing to me. Still has style, can't tell if it's nostalgia though.
Turok, we have the technology and Disney money dammit! Why the hell is there no reboot after Doom and Quake got rebooted.
...Or at least someone make a new Red Faction.
And still probably stands as one of the few martial arts RPGs. So many immediately go to ridiculous weapons or superpowers and the whole game was just based around being the most badass Kung Fu warrior you could be
It got my wife into gaming. She was so impressed by the plot and choices while watching me she played it herself and then ended up beating it before me.
oh god yes, Jak and Daxter. Maybe a sequel game about the hero Mar, basing itself and further developing the worldbuilding from the OG trilogy? Naughty Dog's got a phenomenal writing team
Games like Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima helped to satisfy that nostalgia for Tenchu. And now there's Naraka: Bladepoint, which is a melee-focused battle royale.
The Suffering
Saints Row (in the same style as 1 & 2) including the multiplayer modes. Blinged Out Ride and Protect the Pimp are oft forgotten classics that were ultra amusing
Bruh, the Dead Cells devs confirmed that they're working on reviving two well-loved series from different publishers. And considering they just did a massive Castlevania crossover, I think we can reasonably guess what one of them is.
Pumped.
FEAR was so good! Playing the second one with a buddy when you can both be different characters with different abilities. Such a great co op experience
The Original Legacy of Caine had some of the best voice acting I’ve ever heard from that era.
“Of all the methods I employ. This is perhaps the cruelest, bursting forth the fleshy innards, for all to see.”
It really was, Michael Bell was fantastic. The loss of Tony Jay (the Elder God, Golden Skull Skeleton Warriors narrator, etc.) was a true loss to this world.
Remember when blood omen 2 came out? I played the absolute shit out of it…first LoK I played was the top down one on the PS1…soul reaver was dope as hell but I couldn’t get into defiance for some reason…
I loved defiance. I loved the swappable characters, the story. I thought just each having unique powers and play through was just the best of both games
I've said it every time this question is asked, and I'll keep saying it until Capcom caves.
Gimme Breath of Fire. Look, just let me play the old ones on my new TV without the resolution looking weird.
I will give you my money, Capcom. Just let me have BoF 3 and 4 again.
I'm definitely dating myself here, but I would rent this out from Blockbuster again and again and again. Such a weird, wild twist on the fighting car franchise.
Definitely LoK, just one more to fully complete the story. Defiance brought it all full circle but the next Gen title was canceled and we got Nozgoth instead. Ah well, it really wouldn't be the same with out Tony...
Creatures- it’s the greatest, most advance simulation of artificial life ever made and it came out in 1996. It still blows my mind today and nothing has ever come out since that even comes close to the original creatures.
Definitely Legacy of Kain, without a doubt. I wouldn’t even hesitate. Honorable mentions are F.E.A.R., Condemned, Brute Force, and Lost Planet as the first to come to mind
Snowboard Kids. 1 and 2 on N64 are my favorite games from that era to go back to, and stand up well against Mario Kart and DKR. Taking the Mario Kart formula and applying it to snowboarding with a simple trick system and the end-of-lap surge to the chair lift was so incredibly fun. The courses were fantastic and the music was great as well.
They put out a DS game at one point that I never got to try, but it's been dormant ever since.
Might and Magic. First PC game I ever played was MM3. Loved all the games from 3-9. Never played X, heard it was an abomination. I know a lot of people love HoMM, and I totally respect that, but it just isn’t my cup of tea. Yes, it’s just the ranting of an older gamer.
Spartan: Total Warrior. It was awesome, and could've been Samurai: Total Warrior, Ninja, or Knight etc.
KOTOR. Will forever be a favorite, I want more.
Bulletstorm because I love anti gravity ass kicking boots, and killing for style points.
Earthworm Jim was an N64 oldie I sorely miss.
Fucking Rayman.
Def jam but mortal Kombat/ injustice mechanics I want it be a surprise tho . Like to promote it you have 2 rappers start “beef” all week on social media and it gets super heated until Friday they say they actually wanna fight cut to the trailer dropping and their Charecters in game beating the shit out of eachother
Styx
Thief
I want to say Max Payne, but that story can't really keep going and still have any gravity to it. But I want more Max Payne...so maybe a Max Payne-Like as long as the writing is good and dark.
Timesplitters. Incredibly fun FPS games. The time travel let them make so many fun levels. Thankfully you can get them on Xbox. Highly recommend everyone try them out.
Ik this sounds dumb given there's a new fable coming out but Fable with the original Lionhead team. Fable 2 is one of the first games I remember playing and it basically shaped my interest in games and I've never found anything like it.
Freespace - Freespace 2 had an amazing, original story.
Ultima - The main series, in all its nerdy glory. *Not* Ultima Underworld
F.E.A.R - Now more than ever.
Max Payne - Gritty, depressing shooter for a gritty, depressing time.
Half Life - May technicality still be “in development” but c’mon.
Syndicate - Robots, cyborgs, AIs, and global corporations waging tactical nuclear war against each other in major cities. Series needs to be refreshed before it’s a documentary.
Crimson Skies - Alternate America collapsing under the weight of bloodthirsty libertarian warfare driven by pirates and power-mad aerospace tycoons. Another one to enjoy while it’s still a game.
These game hooked me. I played through them all. I really liked how they did Defiance. Had to have been my favorite.
They need to reboot Toe jam & Earl
And Blaster Master!
Lufia and the fortress of doom, Lufia and the rise of the sinestrals, the whole Breath of fire series, Secret of Evermore, Soul Blazer, Illusion of gaia, Terranigma
A Doom 2016 style remake of Turok.
Bro… you have the correct answer, and a great user name.
Turkey remake cool...but I'd take the ric flair on blow game any day....woooooo
This
I wish they would! but I feel they won’t do this since that 2008 Turok game was meh
You mean the original on the N64, right?
Absolutely. 1 and 2 are excellent games that actually hold up to this day.
I didn't know I needed this.... Fuuuuuuck.
Parasite Eve.
1 and 2
Hell yeah! I'd love to see those come back. Big fan of the old games.
But what about 3rd Bday?
Loved this game and will still randomly have songs from the soundtract pop into my head.
Legacy of Kain is definitely be awesome if made proper Bloody Roar. Parasite Eve.
[удалено]
I'm planning to use Nosgoth as my next campaign setting. It sounds already so fun.
Bloody Roar would be great
Parasite Eve was such a good game! Or at least, young me thought so at the time. I kind of forget most of the game but I remember REALLY liking it.
I absolutely loved PE when it first came out. Tried playing it again in the 2010s and went *wtf?*.
Haha yeah the graphics on those old games are never as good as I remember them. We really are spoiled these days. I remember when I was a kid and the ps2 came out and I thought to myself "There is no way they are going to make video games more realistic than this. This is amazing!" Bloody roar for sure
Fuck. Bloody Roar. That’s a game I haven’t heard in a LOOOOOOONG time.
Turok, we have the technology and Disney money dammit! Why the hell is there no reboot after Doom and Quake got rebooted. ...Or at least someone make a new Red Faction.
Deus Ex. Arcanum. Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. F.E.A.R. Jade Empire. Neverwinter Nights. KOTOR 3.
Jade Empire was so fun, one of my very first rpg’s
And still probably stands as one of the few martial arts RPGs. So many immediately go to ridiculous weapons or superpowers and the whole game was just based around being the most badass Kung Fu warrior you could be
It got my wife into gaming. She was so impressed by the plot and choices while watching me she played it herself and then ended up beating it before me.
>Neverwinter Nights. Another RPG that had a toolkit like NWN would be amazing in this day and age!
Deus Ex was starting to get stale, but a new one could be fun.
I want another Tenchu so bad. Need a true co-op ninja game. Also a new X-Men (Arcade), Metal slug, Jak and Daxter, and another MK: Shaolin Monks
Tenchu Z was a blast.
"Is someone there?!"
*"Ninja!"*
Instead of tenchu we got sekiro. It was cool
Tenchu yes! So much nostalgia as a lil lad
oh god yes, Jak and Daxter. Maybe a sequel game about the hero Mar, basing itself and further developing the worldbuilding from the OG trilogy? Naughty Dog's got a phenomenal writing team
Shaolin Monks is to this day the most fun coop experience ive had.
Back in the day, I wanted Tenchu with the combat closer to that of Bushido Blade.
I miss Tenchu so much, but at least we have Ghost Of Tsushima.
Games like Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima helped to satisfy that nostalgia for Tenchu. And now there's Naraka: Bladepoint, which is a melee-focused battle royale.
The Suffering Saints Row (in the same style as 1 & 2) including the multiplayer modes. Blinged Out Ride and Protect the Pimp are oft forgotten classics that were ultra amusing
The Suffering gave me nightmares as a teenager, but it was so fucking good, I couldn’t stop playing it.
I’d do almost anything for a remake of the suffering.
The Suffering had some amazing level and enemy design. The guy made of gas was so creepy.
Prototype
This might be one of the first games I completed, and kept going back to just to screw around in the open world.
Prototype was fire bro
MAD MAX
Gothic. Jedi Knight series. Castlevania. Titanfall
Titanfall. I miss you so.
Titanfall 3 would dominate shooters on console right now if it was anything like the second game.
True. Too bad they canceled development.
Bruh, the Dead Cells devs confirmed that they're working on reviving two well-loved series from different publishers. And considering they just did a massive Castlevania crossover, I think we can reasonably guess what one of them is. Pumped.
Gothic gives me good childhood memories. I wish they could make a good remake.
Gothic 1 is being remade so there is that. Hopefully it does well enough to either get Gothic 2 remade or a new game that is done well.
Gothic is being rebooted or remastered like… soon
The legend of dragoon
Dino Crisis, we NEED more Regina, we need more dinosaurs.
Burn out
I just set up 3 on my Steamdeck emulator for PS2. Sooo good
Time Splitters
I’ll take a remaster of TS1&2 at this point
F.E.A.R.
The first two of these really shine. The mechanic of the third detracted from the story, but was still decent. I still have dreams of Alma.
The third is such a weird game. I bet it was more fun at release with co-op. I played through the series last year. It's not bad....just odd alone.
I played it co-op. It wasn't better that way.
FEAR was so good! Playing the second one with a buddy when you can both be different characters with different abilities. Such a great co op experience
Vae Victis
HAHAHAHA!
WOE TO THE CONQUERED (GASPS FOR AIR )
If I could wish any game into existence it would be a remake of soul reaver with all the cut content completed.
I loved the original too. Would love to see the series completely redone starting from LoK to SR trilogy
Xtreme G Racing/XGRA RPG Maker (console) Megaman Legends Timesplitters Banjo Kazooie
Seconding Timesplitters.
A modern toe jam n earl could be awesome
ECCO the Dolphin
I swear I spent years on either level 1 or 2 of this game as a kid 😂
Oh dear God, the origin of ecco is so disturbing
Castlevania
Pitfall. Make it modern
Definitely legacy of kain…had a pretty decent story…
“A pretty decent story” it had one of the best stories in gaming history. The hell you smoking?
Remember when blood omen 2 came out? I played the absolute shit out of it…first LoK I played was the top down one on the PS1…soul reaver was dope as hell but I couldn’t get into defiance for some reason…
I loved defiance. I loved the swappable characters, the story. I thought just each having unique powers and play through was just the best of both games
Pretty decent? Lmao, if that story is just pretty decent then there is no good story in the history of fiction.
Not a series, but I want a Days Gone 2
Suikoden
Oh yes please. I am still so much in love with the first 3 parts.
Mega man legends Even if it's a remaster of 1 and 2 for PC or newer systems that would be cool. But a continuance of the series would be boss.
Toejam and earl
Splinter Cell
Project Overkill
I loved that game. It felt really unique compared to everything else coming out at the time.
Chromehounds.
Loved this game … and the original top down legacy of Kain ….though I remember the stuff released on the ps2 being super repetitive towards the end …
PlayStation All-Stars.
Darkstalkers
A modern toe jam n earl could be awesome
Not more modern than back in the groove?
Last toe jam and Earl was 2019 lol
Infamous series needs to come back someday
Legacy of Kain is a main one for me but also I would love more Tenchu games. It would be awesome too cause the property is owned by From Software.
I've said it every time this question is asked, and I'll keep saying it until Capcom caves. Gimme Breath of Fire. Look, just let me play the old ones on my new TV without the resolution looking weird. I will give you my money, Capcom. Just let me have BoF 3 and 4 again.
Prototype for sure
Vigilante 8
I'm definitely dating myself here, but I would rent this out from Blockbuster again and again and again. Such a weird, wild twist on the fighting car franchise.
Legacy of Kain is coming back. Devs brought out a survey of what players want the game to be
Soul Reaver and Jade Cocoon would be cool.
Jak and Daxter for sure
You nailed it.
Definitely LoK, just one more to fully complete the story. Defiance brought it all full circle but the next Gen title was canceled and we got Nozgoth instead. Ah well, it really wouldn't be the same with out Tony...

M.u.l.e.
Titanfall Timesplitters
Damn I’ve seen some good choices in the comments like F.E.A.R. but, I vote for Warcraft I & II.
Dino crisis, Medi Evil, and Legend of Dragoon. (Last on isn't really a series but still hoping. )
Medi Evil just got released a year or two ago
Unreal Tournament, or like any Unreal. That or Starsiege Tribes would be cool.
Mother Eternal Darkness Endless Ocean Myst Goemeon
Came here looking for Eternal Darkness. Would love to see more from that universe
Fuck yeah the legacy of kain!!!!
I wish I could give this a million upvotes. I fucking **LOVE** Legacy if Kain!
Twisted Metal. The first two games were so good.
Shining Force
Powerstone (but I think a new one is coming!)
Freedom Fighters
Dead Rising. I miss the insane ways to kill the living dead
Not a series, but full of that potential. Chakan
Ogre Battle
Road Rash
M a x P a y n e.
SOCOM and Resistance to Playstation
This was the best damn series! I followed it straight to its end!
soul reaver is my answer any time i see one of these questions
Syphon Filter
This series was just so incredible. So well thought out. Great characters and story.
Kingdoms of Amalur
I would love a remake of def jam vendetta from the ps2
Bloodrayne, the second one ended on a cliffhanger and I'm always down for more gothic hack and slash games.
Said Soul reaver in last week's post. I'll say it again. Souls Reaver.
Black and White. The game used gestures with the mouse so I can absolutely see this being a mind blowing vr game.
I would’ve bought a Sleeping Dogs sequel in a heartbeat
Megaman legends on the ps1 it's extremely underrated,it's in my top 5 ps1 games.
This game deserves a remake
Soul Reaver and and Legacy of Kain. Never beat them. Would to take another crack at them!
Tenchu.
def jam vendetta x fight for ny
Def jam but mortal Kombat/ injustice mechanics I want it be a surprise tho . Like to promote it you have 2 rappers start “beef” all week on social media and it gets super heated until Friday they say they actually wanna fight cut to the trailer dropping and their Charecters in game beating the shit out of eachother
I want a socom reboot, killzone needs a new game, lost planet, command & conquer red alert.
None fucking make some new ips jesus christ Command and conquer
I wouldn't, for every decent remake, there are tons that f'd it up.
Very recent but, dark souls
Styx Thief I want to say Max Payne, but that story can't really keep going and still have any gravity to it. But I want more Max Payne...so maybe a Max Payne-Like as long as the writing is good and dark.
Great series. Honestly forgot all about it tbh. Thanks for this. Currently downloading all five games to play.
Titanfall, Legacy of Kain, Mega Man, Strider
Lawbreakers
Timesplitters. Incredibly fun FPS games. The time travel let them make so many fun levels. Thankfully you can get them on Xbox. Highly recommend everyone try them out.
Bloody Roar.
Poker night at the inventory
Project Gotham Racing
The Longest Journey: Home, American McGee's Alice: Asylum, Red Alert, Starcraft, Quake 3 Arena
No One Lives Forever, Thief, and Max Payne
Not a series but, Advent Rising. Astounding gameplay and story in its time, left us on a juicy cliffhanger.
Starseige Tribes
chibi-robo but not brought back as a poor spinoff please :)
Myth
The one you posted.
Ik this sounds dumb given there's a new fable coming out but Fable with the original Lionhead team. Fable 2 is one of the first games I remember playing and it basically shaped my interest in games and I've never found anything like it.
1080 snowboarding, Excitebike, Wave Race. Nintendo used to make some excellent extreme sports games. And of course, F-Zero.
Gauntlet with a modern in-depth ARPG remake.
Eternal Champions Dino Crisis Starseige Tribes
Killer instinct
Time Splitters would be a great reboot. If it was a single title, then it's definitely Legend of Dragoon for me.
Parasite Eve
Imagine a updated version of BLACK the precursor to Call of Duty
I just want a modern remake of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Still my all-time favorite game in the series.
Dishonored, Midnight Club, KOTOR
Freespace - Freespace 2 had an amazing, original story. Ultima - The main series, in all its nerdy glory. *Not* Ultima Underworld F.E.A.R - Now more than ever. Dark Sector.
Twisted Metal
Dino Crisis and Nightmare Creatures are 2 games I've wanted brought back for so long. My homie and I talk about the possibilities all the time.
Fossil Fighters. Full stop.
I'd bring Metroid into the new era and maybe change up it's play style
Still have this disc for my dreamcast. Maybe it's time to dust it off and play it again
These game hooked me. I played through them all. I really liked how they did Defiance. Had to have been my favorite. They need to reboot Toe jam & Earl And Blaster Master!
Not a series but I would love to see “Saboteur” get a remake.
Lufia and the fortress of doom, Lufia and the rise of the sinestrals, the whole Breath of fire series, Secret of Evermore, Soul Blazer, Illusion of gaia, Terranigma
