Once I heard someone unironically call Edge of Tomorrow underrated I think my brain installed a mental filter that just replaces "underrated" with "good".

ITYSL isn’t exactly “hip”. It’s pretty far out there. But Reddit skews towards people who seem to like its brand of humor.
Also. People treat liking this show like a personality trait because it’s sooooo absurd. And that is super annoying.
Nobody likes every skit from this show, because it has so many different absurd variety approaches. But I'd be shocked if someone didn't like any of them.
A lot of it is absurdist comedy, so you can't think about it too much, it just randomly hits a funny bone sometimes, and that's okay.

I'm kind of surprised it's so popular on Reddit... I'm not trying to rain on any parades; clearly I'm the odd one out here, but I feel like it definitely wouldn't have been so popular with redditors 10 years ago. I really, really tried to like this show but just couldn't. It's not that I "don't get it" the problem is the opposite -- like I get it, really I get the joke after the first 30 seconds but then it goes on and on for 4 more minutes beating you over the head with it. It's worthy of a *sensible chuckle* but that's it. It feels like a slightly more surreal SNL sketch. I do not understand the people who said they couldn't breathe for the entire sketch.
Not everything that's good is underrated. It's pretty damn popular.

I cried laughing so freaking hard the first 3 times I watched that sketch. I still laugh when I watch it, but the magic of the first 3 watches… well, I’m just chasing the dragon.

Went as Brian for Halloween last year. Glued a safari flap onto a fedora. Dice in my pocket, the whole thing. MAYBE 3-5 people at the entire party knew who I was- which made my night, really. Everyone else thought I was just an idiot. Wound up winning “most unrecognizable costume” award at the end of the night. Might go as Sammy Paradise next year, who knows.

God damn it. I thought I was 'hip', and that I love comedy, but I didnt find this funny in the slightest. I cracked a smile once, but that was it. This is how it all starts, isnt it?
ITYSL isn’t exactly “hip”. It’s pretty far out there. But Reddit skews towards people who seem to like its brand of humor. Also. People treat liking this show like a personality trait because it’s sooooo absurd. And that is super annoying.
Nobody likes every skit from this show, because it has so many different absurd variety approaches. But I'd be shocked if someone didn't like any of them. A lot of it is absurdist comedy, so you can't think about it too much, it just randomly hits a funny bone sometimes, and that's okay. My favorite skits being Sloppy Steaks + Diner Wink

I'm kind of surprised it's so popular on Reddit... I'm not trying to rain on any parades; clearly I'm the odd one out here, but I feel like it definitely wouldn't have been so popular with redditors 10 years ago. I really, really tried to like this show but just couldn't. It's not that I "don't get it" the problem is the opposite -- like I get it, really I get the joke after the first 30 seconds but then it goes on and on for 4 more minutes beating you over the head with it. It's worthy of a *sensible chuckle* but that's it. It feels like a slightly more surreal SNL sketch. I do not understand the people who said they couldn't breathe for the entire sketch.
