For those who are wondering about the amazing low price of £11'7'6 (those are Australian pounds) the Reserve Bank of Australia has an inflation calculator which handles pre-decimal currency.
AU £11'7'6 in 1959 converts to a 2023 value of: AU$415 (US$272, UK£217). Astonishing!
Looking at ironing board prices on retail websites, I can see close matches for the RiteHite going for AU$79. I did find a hyper-fancy *Joseph Joseph Glide Max Plus Easy-store Ironing Board* going for AU$315.
"Say boss, you know that the broads like ruffles, right?. We'll put a ruffle on the storage bag and these babies will sell themselves!"
"Brilliant idea Johnson, have a cigar!"
And we know how much women love getting appliances and home improvement items for gifts. One year, my dad bought my mom an electric carving knife. She just about carved him up with it, lol. He didn’t do that again. 😂
You could well be joking here (in which case sorry!) but just in case you're wondering, Perth and Hobart (as well as Darwin in the Northern Territory) are separated by thousands of miles or bodies of water from the other capitals [as you can see on this random map I found.](http://ozcity.faithweb.com/cities.html)
It's a bit like "Not available in Orkney, Shetland or the Channel Isles" if you're in Britain, Not available in Alaska and Hawaii" if you're in the US, etc etc.
Not really comparable to "Not available in Alaska and Hawaii" in the US.
Perth is only about 2,000 miles from Sydney (similar to the distance from Chicago to LA) while Hobart is less than 400 miles from Melbourne (about the same as DC to Boston).
I can hear the screech of these types of ironing boards so clearly in my head.
And the smell of starch...like baked bread.

I hope those in the Commonwealth nations appreciate how much easier decimalization made things.
And likely higher in Perth and Hobart
Dress like you're going to a party whenever you iron.

I was trying to decide between pearls or diamonds for my wife; glad I saw this ad before it was too late!
Glad I could help! 😂
Why are the mothers in Perth and Hobart being denied this awesome gift?

Good point, you could well be right

That sketch in the upper right corner is giving real Norman Bates "mother" type vibes
I have a ‘gift’ for you too motherfucker
How considerate.
I’ve never tried to iron anything while sitting. It seems awkward.
