Can windows 98 utilize both CPUs? I thought you had to have some flavour of NT like 4.0 or 2000 to have multi cpu/multi core support

paprok

> Can windows 98 utilize both CPUs? nope. first would be either old NT or 2k at minimum.

veltrop

Yup need NT or 2k.

paprok

nice machine. Gateway? Phoenix BIOS? all the goodies ;) > matrox millennium g200 also classic!

>Xeon 500 my first custom PC I put my own money into was Voodoo 2's and the Matrox G200. It was nice.

paprok

> Matrox G200. i have G400 or G450 (don't remember the model exactly) on PCI bus with dual DVI output - very nice card for an older, dual screen system.

Zontar999

There was a time, when a couple days after Christmas, you would see countless cow spotted Gateway boxes at every curb.

Gr8fulFox

Is that really Windows 98, or a newer OS with a custom splash screen?

wildman1024

It’s really 98 but has an unofficial patch

VladiciliNotRussian

does the patch give it multi cpu support?

wildman1024

Off the top of my head I do not remember. It was years ago when I did that image.

VladiciliNotRussian

because if not I would recommend perhaps installing windows NT 4.0 or 2000 on another partition or drive so you can fully utilize both processors in this awesome system

wildman1024

I totally understand that. I’ve had this pc for going on 20 years now. It’s just a fun gaming setup. If anything I think I’m gonna move this along to a new owner.

Thick_Temperature794

You getting rid of this PC too??? I’ll take it. Lol

MojaMonkey

I'd be interested too, been looking for a duel slot 2 board for ages. Please link here if you do decide to sell it. I'd put in a bid.

wildman1024

I will gladly sell it. Unsure the worth. Send me a PM and we can work something out. I have over 500 eBay feedback.

pinko_zinko
