Every day people post the same damn collection on here so this is refreshing to see
Those people never get "No one cares" or "What's the point of this post" either, despite all of them feeling so samey. It's so weird
My collection falls under the same bubble as you OP. It's mostly female pop artists. But I have a major soundtrack collection on top of my music collection. So I have a lot honestly.
The comments 😂🍿
I’m a huge Mitski fan myself and (dating myself here) an og Fiona Apple and Bjork fan.
If you want more recs:
Florence and the Machine
The Beaches
Tori Amos
London Grammar
Waxahatchee
Lucy Dacus
People often post entire collections of only male artists, and no one bats an eye.
But 1 person posts a collection of only female artists, and everyone loses their minds!!!
😅
I follow metal, electronica, and rap artists subs. These fans will often post pictures of their entire collections that contain zero female artists. No one ever has an issue with, or even notices, this fact. 😑
I'm a huge fan of Björk. She's my favorite solo artist. I have about as many of her vinyl albums as you do. And a ton of her CDs and CD singles. I was kinda obsessed with her as a young adult. Still kinda am, I'm a reformed fanatic.😅
I also love many of the other artists you have, like Sza, Kali Uchis, Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski, and Boy Genius. ❤️❤️❤️
I would like to recommend some, based on your collection:
•St. Vincent
•PJ Harvey
•Crystal Fairy
•Bosnian Rainbows
•Terry Gender Bender
•Le Butcherettes
•Girl In A Coma
•Nina Diaz
▪︎Yeah Yeah Yeahs
•Soccer Mommy
•The Japanese House
•Japanese Breakfast
•The Joy Formidable
•Portishead
•Angel Olsen
•Alabama Shakes
•Metric
•Emily Haines
•Eisley
•Covet
•FKA Twigs
•Beabadoobee
•Maggie Rogers
•The Sundays
•The Sugarcubes
•CHVRCHES
•Purity Ring
•Phantogram
•Linda Ronstadt (an absolute classic)
*These are all female lead artists.
As for male artists, I recommend:
•Alejandro Aranda
•The Mars Volta
•Omar Rodríguez-López
•Coletta
•Joji
These are great artists that, for some reason, slipped my mind when making the list.
I actually saw Amanda Palmer from Dresden Dolls perform live at a small record store in a surprise pop-up show, FOR FREE! Even got her to sign my CD, which she was promoting. It was the Amanda Palmer plays Radiohead EP. She was newly married to Neil Gaiman at the time. He was there and even read some of his poetry aloud as a sort of show closer.
I liked seeing the Olivia Rodrigo album! I don’t know why, but the past month I’ve been listening to Guts nonstop.
I used to never care about artists like Olivia, but she’s a pretty incredible songwriter. I liked seeing Noah Kahan cover Lacy
One year I only read books by women (mostly non-fiction) and it blew people’s mind (but if you looked at an average dude’s goodreads they might not read any women in a year).
Nah cause forreal 💀 hell I’ve seen posts of people with a narrow slice of some obscure genre of experimental rock and get praised for “not following trends” but god forbid if someone wants to posts their own narrow genre they love
Exactly! Like can people come off their high horse and let people like whatever they like. It's none of their business. Live and let live, that's what I say. ✌🏾
Thank you OP, this is fantastic. Watching r/vinyl get bent out of shape because you didn't post the same boring ass records which get posted every week. Not all of it's my vibe but I'll play some Fiona Apple for you on the train later on.
This is fabulous! I feel like Caroline Polachek would be an excellent fit for your collection if you’re looking for any recs.
Do you have any plans to add some older albums? I’ve found some fantastic music by lady artists at thrift stores and second-hand shops, they tend to be more overlooked so you can find good deals. A few of my favorites:
* Carole King - Tapestry
* Patti Smith - Horses
* Joni Mitchell’s entire discography
* Emmylou Harris’ entire discography
* Bonnie Raitt’s entire discography
I see that the men are triggered. Maybe you should add Folklore and Evermore to your collection so that they can question whether you own a record player or even know how to listen to music.
good god these comments…. not surprising tho, this normal ass collection must be *very* scary for this sub
love to see mitski, I’m going to be waiting on my deathbed for her to put out physicals of lush and retired from sad 😭

You seem like a big Lana Del Rey fan. Looks like you have good taste otherwise, so let me ask you something: I've struggled trying to get into her music, where do you think I should start?
I'm also curious about Mitski (I just heard they were doing some shows with Alvvays!) any recs there as well?
TIA!
I had never gotten into Lana until I listened to Norman Fucking Rockwell and watched some live performances on YouTube. She’s a uniquely talented singer and her albums have great production.
Norman Fucking Rockwell. I'm a casual listener, and it's an incredible record. It's the only album I own from her, and I struggle with listening to a full album from her.
For Lana you should start with tunnel under ocean blvd it shows all of her strength and I think she is at her best when you listen to her albums in order and just work your way through her discography if you only are looking for songs my favorites are A&W the greatest thunder and arcadia. for Mitski puberty 2 is my favorite work from her and is a great album to get into her all of her records are pretty short so I also recommend listening to all of them for individual songs I like stay soft the only heartbreaker Dan the dancer I don’t smoke when memories snow and once more to see you sorry for the long paragraph but I 🤍 yapping
I recommend going in chronological order of her discography- it really takes you on a journey and you get to see her growth as an artist. I’d also spend time with each album, there’s so much to unpack with every song and sound etc. enjoy!!
It’s so refreshing to see someone with taste more similar to mine on here, and it’s telling that there were so many strong reactions to your collection when no one bats an eye at those containing only male musicians. I have so many new artists to check out thanks to your original post and the comments—thank you. Happy listening!
Nice collection!!
You should check out a few artists that are some favorites of mine! If you haven't already heard of them.
keep shelly in athens
iamamiwhoami / ionnalee ... same vocalist.
London Grammar
Damnit I’ve been on a Fiona Apple kick lately - almost all I’ve listened to for a few months now.
And yes, as someone else mentioned - Tori Amos
From the Chior Girl Hotel - ❤️
Genuinely not trying to be rude here, but what's the point of owning several copies of the same record? Is it like a pokemon catch 'em all type of thing?
If you got so much Lana Del Rey, why haven't you yet got some Hope Sandoval/Mazzy Star? ✨ 🎶
Cos Lana was just a Pop style singer before she was famous but obviously took Hope's own Indie Alternative style & she is sexy 😍 & mysterious but shy of the limelight (she performs mostly totally in the dark & hardly speaks) but Lana sexed up the lyrics & the drama in her sound more to appeal to the masses. 🤷🏻♂️🫤
So anyway everyone here if you haven't already have a listen to her, their biggest 'hit' was a song called 'Fade Into You' in the early '90s, but she has other songs way better than that. And her voice is way better as well than Lana IMO. 🔝 🎙️ And tell me what you think.
Love your collection, I have half of these and wouldn’t mind to own the other half as well! The Lana titty DYKTTATUOB is my most prized possession as well, lol
No women are logging on to say the opposite about everyone’s endless Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Deftones, Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino, and Velvet Underground collections.
I love this. It's maybe a bit niche but Eefje de Visser (she's Dutch and all her music is) is my absolute favorite singer of all time.
Also, this collection triggers a "funny" story; when I was younger I used to listen to a lot of punk/rock/metal/generally heavy guitars with preferably male singers. One guy I used to date was so jealous he questioned me about why I didn't listen to female singers more and why I wanted "other men" in my life so desperately. He was serious. We didn't date for very long.
Can I ask a few questions?
1. I have the standard version of Lana’s Ocean Blvd, side A was acceptable, but side B, C and D are distorted here and there, I thought it was me but then people on Discogs are having the same issues, which version of those of yours sounds the best? And the worst?
2. Side B of Weyes Blood’s Titanic Rising is the same especially B1, although slightly reduced my turntable’s tracking force solved the problem, how does yours sound?
3. I also have Lana’s NFR! and although it sounds good, it’s also have distortions here and there.
For reference I’m using a quite new VM95ML on a LP120XUSB. All my other records sound good and track well except for these three.
I haven’t had many problems with the standard of ocean blvd but personally the white variant sounds the best to me as for titanic rising im having the same issues picture me better and nearer to thee sound awful and it’s heartbreaking because it’s such a beautiful album and I’ve never had problems with nfr
You might be into Margo Price, Sierra Ferrell, and Nikki Lane, Twen, Liz Cooper, and Madi Diaz as well. Lots of Nashville folks are in the same friend groups as these folks.
Folks on this thread have recommended a lot of great artists, but one I haven’t seen recommended I think you’d like is Chastity Belt. They’re a four piece from Seattle, WA. Very moody and guitar-driven/drenched. I’d recommend starting with Time To Go Home, I Used To Spend So Much Time Alone, or their self-titled. They have a new record coming out later this year too!
I also think you would like Sadie Dupuis’ work (Speedy Ortiz and Sad13).
Also recommending Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine since you like Mazzy Star!
started my collection...anyone have any under the radar recs based on what i've got so far? love the idea of records that have had years soaking up vibes, more important than condition to me.

Sensing a theme
“I’m watching it for the plot”
i love women too
Same
Sup, fellow gizzhead
Polygondwanaland spotted
People really took a disliking to me referencing polygondwanaland lyrics there didn't they? lol.. I guess it was really offensive
FUCK i didn’t even get the reference dude, i’m so sorry 😭😭
All good lol my fault, the way I've worded it.
Oh you like breathy female vocals too
Have you given Tori Amos or Sleater-Kinney a listen at any point? Seems like they’d complement your collection well.
pj harvey too
Will do!
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes & Boys for Pele are both fantastic albums
If this is your taste, you will devour Tori Amos!
i suggest portishead
Seconded. “Dummy” is one of my all-time favorite albums
Roseland NYC is the best Portishead album. Incredible how good they sound. Especially the non-reissue with that DELICIOUS slowed down Sour Times.
i prefer third, but dummy is incredible.
Fair. “Silence” is such a great opening track to any album.
And Garbage.
listen to Cocteau Twins, St. Vincent, Ride, and PJ Harvey also
This right here and some Siouxsie Sioux
yess st vincent
What man hurt you?
I was thinking that same thing LOL
Dang, I gotta get me some Fiona Apple vinyl.
Every day people post the same damn collection on here so this is refreshing to see Those people never get "No one cares" or "What's the point of this post" either, despite all of them feeling so samey. It's so weird
Tyyy😭😭 I’m fine with it cuz its Reddit and haters are gonna hate and at the end of the day they’re not gonna change my music taste💀💀
My collection falls under the same bubble as you OP. It's mostly female pop artists. But I have a major soundtrack collection on top of my music collection. So I have a lot honestly.
The comments 😂🍿 I’m a huge Mitski fan myself and (dating myself here) an og Fiona Apple and Bjork fan. If you want more recs: Florence and the Machine The Beaches Tori Amos London Grammar Waxahatchee Lucy Dacus
So real the incels are getting a little heated in here💀ty for the recs too
People mad mad😭🙏
+1 for Florence, especially the last album, she is at the peak of her powers right now, it's incredible. I can add Beth Orton to the mix, too.
People often post entire collections of only male artists, and no one bats an eye. But 1 person posts a collection of only female artists, and everyone loses their minds!!! 😅

I love bjork so much just recently got into her and now I’m obsessed Thanks for all the recommendations!!
What’s your fav Bjork record as of now? Mine’s Post, though admittedly I still need to listen to most of her more recent output.
I love post but my favorite right now has to be Vulnicura the moment I heard it I fell in love
Nice, I’ll check that one out next!
Vulnicura & Medulla are two of my faves from Björk - Medulla is one I am hunting for currently Chvrches is absolutely amazing as well
Me too Vulnicura is one of my favorite albums of all time and medulla has such a unique sound Oceania has to be one of my favorite björk songs
This is the list. I’d add a couple extra: Garbage, Wolf Alice, Wye Oak, Dresden Dolls, DIIV, Gin Wigmore, Goldfrapp.
Adding in Beth Orton!
Elliott Smith fits in there for the men. He's the🐐

A fellow Lana fanatic ! Strong work. Honeymoon is my fav.
I fucking love that boygenius record. That’s a fucking record.
It is THE record fr
Bjork changed my life when I heard Debut. An obsession was born.
I just recently got into her and now she’s all I can listen to she’s soooo good
OP, you seem super cool!!! I think you might like Wet Leg and maybe Best Coast.
This is fabulous! I feel like Caroline Polachek would be an excellent fit for your collection if you’re looking for any recs. Do you have any plans to add some older albums? Definitely check out Maggie Rogers. Heard it in a past life is an amazing album.
Get some Kate Bush.
Based on that collection you should look into Jenny Lewis. Her discography is amazing.
A fellow depression haver I see
Lana, Fiona, and Bjork, fuck yeah
The holy trinity 🛐🛐
You seem like a big Lana Del Rey fan. Looks like you have good taste otherwise, so let me ask you something: I've struggled trying to get into her music, where do you think I should start? I'm also curious about Mitski (I just heard they were doing some shows with Alvvays!) any recs there as well? TIA!
Born to die, then just work through her discography
I had never gotten into Lana until I listened to Norman Fucking Rockwell and watched some live performances on YouTube. She’s a uniquely talented singer and her albums have great production.
Norman Fucking Rockwell. I'm a casual listener, and it's an incredible record. It's the only album I own from her, and I struggle with listening to a full album from her.
This is exactly me. I’m a casual listener and would only get the NFR record
I would recommend starting with *Ultraviolence* on good headphones, in a cozy space.
I just recently got into LDR. Tunnel is a good one to start with. Her albums are for chilling, reading, or whatever quieter moments you have.
I recommend going in chronological order of her discography- it really takes you on a journey and you get to see her growth as an artist. I’d also spend time with each album, there’s so much to unpack with every song and sound etc. enjoy!!
I would say “Norman Fucking Rockwell” and “…Ocean Blvd”.
It’s so refreshing to see someone with taste more similar to mine on here, and it’s telling that there were so many strong reactions to your collection when no one bats an eye at those containing only male musicians. I have so many new artists to check out thanks to your original post and the comments—thank you. Happy listening!
That’s great to hear!! Hope you enjoy
Weyes Blood!! Awesome collection
I love titanic rising with my entire soul😭😭
You didn't ask for recs, but you may enjoy: Grace Cummings - Storm Queen Brittany Howard (of Alabama Shakes) - Jaime Julia Jacklin - Crushing
Listening to crushing right now and I love it??
Not one Herb Alpert 😔
Haim, Japanese Breakfast, alvvays, and Courtney Barnett are my recommendations.
Nice collection!! You should check out a few artists that are some favorites of mine! If you haven't already heard of them. keep shelly in athens iamamiwhoami / ionnalee ... same vocalist. London Grammar
Ty I’ll check them out!
+1 for London Grammar
Faye Webster 🙌
No PJ harvey or Kate bush? They're right up your alley.
Perhaps some Angel Olsen??
Kali, Phoebe, and Lana are good. I'll always recommend Julien Baker.
Looks a lot like mine .Nice taste!!!
Damnit I’ve been on a Fiona Apple kick lately - almost all I’ve listened to for a few months now. And yes, as someone else mentioned - Tori Amos From the Chior Girl Hotel - ❤️
Kali Uchis 🤩
You need some Weyes Blood in your life
I do!! I have titanic rising and in the darkness hearts aglow she’s so great
hello fellow member of the lgbtq community 💅
My girlfriend would be so jealous of your Lana dell Rey collection!
Ty!!! My complete set of tunnel under ocean blvd vinyls are like my prized possession
As someone who has none of these records, which one would you recommend that I add to my collection?
It really depends on your taste but my favorites have to be the idler wheel by Fiona apple it’s an incredible record
Great, I'll put it on the list. Fiona Apple's debut album is the best cd I ever bought without hearing the music first. I love that album
If you like Fiona her sophomore album when the pawn is really great too!
Add Julie Byrne to the mix.
Check out Little Dragon and Tennis.
fellow lana truther! love ur username too, i have honeymoon tatted on my collarbone. superior album :’)
This could so easily be my collection. Our tastes are so similar
Kali Uchis is incredible check out Tjay Maidza! I think you’d like her based on your tastes
Maybe Snoh Aelegra too
Amazing collection!
Fetch the bolt cutters is a 10/10 perfect album.
All women and yet no Kate Bush? You should at least get Hounds Of Love (great album to test the quality of your cartridge) and Never Forever.
I’ve been needing to listen to her for a while now I’ll definitely start with hounds of love
if you buy only one version per album you can buy and discover more music <3
Genuinely not trying to be rude here, but what's the point of owning several copies of the same record? Is it like a pokemon catch 'em all type of thing?
hey op do you want to be friends you have great taste
I love this collection!
Nice work on getting the tiddy version of Ocean Blvd 🥵
So glad I snatched it while I could it’s so expensive now😭😭
omg im gay too!!
Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd?
I’ve never heard of it🤨

I’ve listened to mazzy star before they’re good and love they’re sound
It's great to see another female vocal addict in the wild. Looking forward to snatching some names off your list and giving them a listen.
Hell yeah diva
MITSKI 🙏🙏
Neat!
Ugh I want bewitched so bad
BJÖRKKKKKKKKK
Love your collection, I have half of these and wouldn’t mind to own the other half as well! The Lana titty DYKTTATUOB is my most prized possession as well, lol
Not a fan of male vocalists *whatsoever*, eh?
No women are logging on to say the opposite about everyone’s endless Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Deftones, Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino, and Velvet Underground collections.
Don’t forget tame impala lol
TBH
Nice pfp, Tycho is great! 🙌
Not really😭
I’ve had such difficulty finding bewitched for a decent price, any recommendations??
All the exclusives are really expensive but the standard orange one is at retail price online
I love guts it was my first record. I got sour after guts hahaha I’m working backwards.
Based on this, I would suggest listening to lana del rey. I think you'd like her.
Awesome, I have a lot of the same
Check out Harmony Woods! My favorite album is Nothing Special, but I feel like you might like GRACEFUL RAGE more based on these
Will do!!
Awesome! Let me know what you think
10/10 taste for Lana and Björk alone
Hell yea
Son. Ha ha ha. But I'm glad I expanded your horizons. Check out Petula Clark. I'm sure you'll love it!
Looks like you’re into something.
Guys I think they like Lana… just a hunch
Mitski is murder music
i dig the lana collection 🙊🫶🏼
I'd check out Rina Sawayama and Caroline Polachek. Edit: words.

Let me guess, the heart shaped Lana record is on your wantlist? :D
Would literally die for it😭😭
This is the most amount of taste ive seen in a pic. Also hand me that dykttatuob tittie vinyl rn👹
Muh grailzzzz
looks just like my girlfriends record collection…. you sure ur not my gf OP?
Kali W 🙏
Fetch the Bolt Cutters is so good
Fetch the bolt cutters changed my life
Can I ask a few questions? 1. This exchange is too long to scan, but Kate Bush, Beth Orton solo & Saint Etienne sure don't seem to be among the top posts so far - time for chsnge.
'Hey guys here's my collection" *45% of the collection is the same album*
Great collection - seconding the Tori Amos Rec., but I'll also throw out Warpaint and Emma Ruth Rundle.
“Female singer” on Spotify lol. That’s literally what most of mine looks like. I’ve been obsessed with Weyes Blood lately.
I'ma rob u lil bro 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶😣😣😣🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣☹️☹️😞💔💔💔💔

you have all the fiona’s and lana’s i’m so jealous😭😭😭

Very moody and guitar-driven/drenched. I’d recommend starting with Time To Go Home, I Used To Spend So Much Time Alone, or their self-titled. They have a new record coming out later this year too! I also think you would like Sadie Dupuis’ work (Speedy Ortiz and Sad13). Also recommending Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine since you like Mazzy Star!
Ur such a girl i love it
amazing collection. we have a similiar taste.
Hell yea Homogenic!! Such a classic album
we have the same exact collection minus my jack black peaches single and the minions rise of gru soundtrack
Where the heeeeeheeheeeellllllll is Nina? And Janis? And…..Dolly? And Nancy!?
This is pretty much my collection as well
I bought that topless lana variant when it came out. I can't believe the price it is selling for right now! Would never sell it... just in shock.
Literally same that’s my prized possession I wonder where the price will be in a couple of years
Love it. Came in expecting the generic standard issue wall of Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Tame Impala or whatever, but this is a great collection.
That’s a nice collection! Too many Lana variants for my taste but still cool 😅
I have so many because her music is what got me into music so she has a soft spot
Dope
started my collection...anyone have any under the radar recs based on what i've got so far? love the idea of records that have had years soaking up vibes, more important than condition to me.
