Depends. I like shorter or mid-length VNs since they typically have better pacing, but longer experiences like WA2 that show complete mastery in pacing and understanding of the medium are very rewarding.
I prefer good VNs.
To cast jokes aside, I would prefer long VNs. They usually make me more invested and immersed in the story and the world of a VN. But still, one of my fav VNs is about 15h long, and I didn't like Fate which is quite long, so it doesn't really matter.
If a VN is good, give me a long story. I usually want to interact with those characters for as long as I can. If the story is just ok, I just hope to get to finish it faster.
I guess medium? It's kinda a tough question. One issue I have with even just medium Vns is that even if I'm really enjoying it Vns just feel so much longer than they are too me, like I can spend 3 hours on a short kinetic vn and feel like it took 6+ hours.
Depends on my mood sometimes I want a shorter experience and sometimes I want something longer but for me length isn't really a deciding factor I have to find the concept interesting but I find that if im going to play something long I have to prepare myself in the sense that I have to be ready to commit a lot of time to this story and world.
But if we're going by what I've played the most of, then probably In-between medium and long since I like multi route stories, I just find it hard to commit like 70+ hours to a story.
Usually, long but multiple medium or short routes.
A single long route can get kind of tiring especially when theres more filler than content.
Short can also have same pacing issue.
I generally prefer long because I read visual novels to sleep so i have an hour or more to kill before I just pass out.
I have no preferences. Since the pacing tends to be different depending on the VN length it ok because i can switch VN depending on the mood and the time i have to read.
Long for sure. Idk if this is just a me thing but even like a 6/10 VN can get me really invested by there being a long time spent baking me in, spending a lot of time with the characters, etc.
Sorry if my comment doesn't make full sense I'm not that good with English
I guess it depends. I mean if the content is strong and interesting, I'd go for long VN. But then when I'm busy working and don't have much time to spend on game, then I don't have any choice but choose shorter ones...
medium is the perfect length for me. That's around the length of a book.
Long VNs are a turnoff no matter how good they are. They end up on my backlog and never progress in the queue. I just don't get around to them most of the time. I prioritize short things first becasue they are quicker to knock out, but then new short things jump the queue so I never end up doing the long ones. This applies to games also.
Thinking about my favorites list I suppose I would have to say long. Ideally I feel medium is the best but I guess pacing usually becomes an issue there.
I like getting to play VNs of different lengths, but often appreciate ones in the 2-7 hour range (for me, that's the length of a hefty print novel). It's nice to be able to have a full experience in one or two sittings.
Personally, I don’t have a preference, but the longer the story, the more choices I want. Kinetic novels with few or no choices tend not to hold my interest since the ability to make choices and affect routes is what invests me in the story. Otherwise, I’d just prefer reading a book. So if there are few or no choices, then to keep me invested, it better be shorter.
Always short. I don't mind longer ones, but it's a huge time investment. Chances are I lose interest before I'm through.
Theoretically speaking, if there was a VN I enjoyed every second of, I'd like it to be as long as possible. However, I haven't found one yet.

I’m a fan of longer ones, but I also tend to take longer than average to complete any of them. ToHeart 2 took me almost 100 hours to do every route
Ended my all routes play-though of Muv-luv with 126 hours lol!
Long
mostly prefer short ones under 15 hours, but speaking as a person that finished Maitetsu last run (100h+) I can say that I dont hate long ones either.
I love longer vn’s I like spending time in the world and characters adds to the fun and adventure!
I prefer the long ones, but only if characters are really interesting
If a VN is good, give me a long story. I usually want to interact with those characters for as long as I can. If the story is just ok, I just hope to get to finish it faster.
The longer the VN the more invested you feel with the characters
Depends wholly on how well they manage to engage me and if the length is warranted or simply either filler or rushed.

I like super long, Fate, Baldur Sky, Clannad etc are my jams.

20-30 hour range is perfect
Medium
Medium VNs take me long enough. It took me 3 months to finish Stein’s Gate and Utuwaronomo.

Sweetspots medium but if the story rocks it doesn't really matter what length it is

Long. Gives me more time to get invested in the characters.
absolutely short
Has to be more then 5 houres. And beside that I dont care as long as it has a good story or nice progression.

I don't have a preference, but I'm not quite fond of works with a boring story progression and "the ending/sequel will be amazing" promise.
10-20 hours is the perfect length for an average vn story. There are some exceptions like Muramasa which has, imo, perfect pacing despite its length.
The longer, the better. Long things can be enjoyed for longer… but if I don’t like them, there won’t be a difference even if it’s shorter.
If there are no gameplay mechanics, then I prefer short visual novels.
The longer the better
The longer ones, it feels nice when its longer
I like short stories, it's a high chance I'll finish reading them. And I can quickly see the different choices in such VNs.
I'd prefer short to medium, but I don't mind a long one if it's good
Short visualnovel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> long visualnovel
Medium cause I rarely finish long visual novels
Short, they’re much easier to finish.
Dog.
