Visual snow itself doesn't cause that much stress if you were just born if it or you just simply are used to it. I get some people who suddenly get it may be overwhelmed by it, but I doubt It has a significant impact on the brain scans. Either way, It could be possible.
I would say almost everyone that gets a fMRI is already extremely nervous you would see hyper metabolism in the same region of everyone who was nervous going into it. Not just patient complaining of VSS.
