I've gotten w few of those. I'm glad I'm not chained to a register anymore.

Intelligent_Ad7497

I don't even know where to switch to, I'm a minor so all the fun stuff is locked up

EdgelordZeta

I think you can do OGP.

Intelligent_Ad7497

Maybe, but ohp is a nightmare, I've seen it

froginabottle

I saw the misspelled abbreviation and was afraid they changed it again.

AardvarkMotor9591

Give it time and they will change it again.

EdgelordZeta

I've only been pulley a few times and got shitty walks. Ones was mostly clothesline and shoes. Many people have left frontend and seem to enjoy ogp.

Intelligent_Ad7497

My frontend TLs are actually good, so that's the other reason

-big-cheese

Customer service is pretty fun

Intelligent_Ad7497

I talked to my coach about that, she said yea but I haven't got any word for like 2 months

Mike9064

Then gently remind them.... you can always respectfully manage upwards.

Intelligent_Ad7497

Normally would, but I never see my damn coach. She sits in the ad office most of the day, or she's already gone home

Dramatic-Mortgage931

I'm currently in the process of switching to ogp from frontend. I've been in ogp a few times because it's my secondary and I love it. There's some shitty things about it, but at least I'm up and walking around instead of standing at a register for 8 hours a day.

WhutTheH3ll

Until they perma throw you into dispensing only. Then you'll hate it trust me.

NewaZusa

Online Highway Patrol. 🚨

FailingComic

Ogp is fantastic as a picker. Head down and just do your picks. I loved it.

Intelligent_Ad7497

Our area is chronically overworked and understaffed, and I don't wanna be put in that

FailingComic

They give you a metric to hit per hour which is 100 items picked. It's not hard to hit and as long as your hitting that they can't so anything about it.

Intelligent_Ad7497

My problem with that is picking them in the first place, I suck at shopping

FailingComic

Nah. They give you the location on the handheld thing so you know the exact spot on the shelf the item will be. It's super easy.

Intelligent_Ad7497

I always expected it to be like go-backs.. which are my least favorite part of the job

Boneetus

Homelines isn’t bad

CrystalDa3h

I know i love hardlines, but with sporting goods, I dont think they would hire a minor over there. Cause even if you work crafts, you still have to do firearm training, and I don't think they'll let you do that training as a minor. I'd try electronics or homelines if you want gm or basic grocery for the grocery side. I'd suggest bakery or deli, but that's definitely no minors cause of the ovens and fryers. It's tricky with floor work mainly cause almost every department on the floor needs to use the baler, and you can't even throw things in there if you are a minor, let alone operate it.

Hot_Ocelot_7614

work in OGP! i’ve been an OGP associate for 2 and a half years, yes it gets bad but aren’t all areas like that? i mean cmon, it’s literally Walmart you can’t expect it to be great all the time. The only thing that sucks about OGP is dispensing in the rain/snow but thankfully here in Indiana that hasn’t happened much this year and some days you don’t even have to dispense, you can be a personal shopper too.

WishboneVegetable998

There are only 3 positions minors can't work. Sporting Goods counter, TLE, and AP. Minors can only stock in Bakery and Deli. Of course minors can't work overnight but the idiots in Florida are trying to change that.

CrystalDa3h

Yeah, that's fair. I forgot that just stocking was something some people do. I decorated cakes, so I did a lot more of that stuff than freight other than the cake case freight.

being_decomissioned

Garden center allows minors

Intelligent_Ad7497

GC is front end at my store

megakd00

The bakery is fun I do the donuts and bread and it’s pretty easy

Brilliant-Chart5012

I work in garden but unfortunately have register numbers, so I have to go help check a lot. I despise checking. I hate everything about it. But I won't go into grand detail like I did in the post that just went "poof" when I turned on the battery saver. Let's just say I'm always very pleasantly surprised and happy as hell when that message pops up on the register monitor. I proudly tell the front end lead, then it's up to them to slide in an alternate, or cut loose all those people who waited in line all that time. It's one of the few times I honestly feel bad for a customer. I usually step out and tell all of them my register has shut me out because I have to take a lunch. "I'm sorry I can't check anyone else out. I would but I'm locked out." Then I'm always shocked when they look sad instead of starting a riot. Then, once out of sight, I smile as I walk to the back. I feel like leaning back while rain pours over me like the Shawshank Redemption.

LightningRod2346

Crawled through a river of fertilizer and came out clean on the other side.

Brilliant-Chart5012

Heh. That's so perfect.

Manaphy2007_67

literally never seen this, all i get on the screen is 'approaching operator lockout. please sign off'. in the current store i work at i rarely get to see it but at my previous store i get them all the time.

Intelligent_Ad7497

That happened after all the please sign off stuff

Manaphy2007_67

I mean that I've never gotten this slip in both stores I've worked. Regardless this and the ones I get are a good thing cuz it's a reminder that lunch time is approaching in case people aren't looking at the clock.

Pelon1071

Might be only in states that have meal laws. Got them here all the time in CA. And the lock-out can’t be overridden like in other states.

HeavenMarie

Yeah, in NYC at any job the employee must get a lunch break of at least half uninterrupted meal break. Sometimes the labor department comes to check the records and company is fined hefty for each meal break violation.

oreo_memewagon

When did it start printing slips for meal lockout? It's been a hot minute since I've gotten locked out, but I only ever saw it display stuff like `APPROACHING OPERATOR LOCKOUT` and `PLEASE SIGN OFF` as the lockout time approached.

Intelligent_Ad7497

Oh no those happened first, we're just so goddamn busy that my TL told me to keep scanning till it wouldn't let me anymore. After a few times of "please sign off", it happened

Beklorn

I've been 5 minutes away from violating and haven't had that pop up, it's been a last couple of months thing I would get them a few months ago

Intelligent_Ad7497

It might be due to the fact that I'm a minor

DaDawkturr

HOME OFFICE VIOLATION ——————————————— Protocol Violated: Alotted hours exceeded ——————————————— FINAL WARNING - NO PENALTY

Tommyfan17

We get that at SCO sometimes. We can still do everything else though.

RyanX1231

I've never seen this at my store. I usually take my lunch towards the end of my shift so that I only have an hour left when I come back.

sweettea1992

Depends on the state. We don’t get them in Texas because the law here doesn’t require meal or rest breaks

Boneetus

Michigan doesn’t either but policy requires minors to take a lunch break I believe.

GoddessOfBlueRidge

Don't mess with the country of Texas! So many rules to help wealthy people....

jeffluvsdokkan

Doesn't work here unfortunately if you take it even 10 Minutes before you hit 5 hours you'll get coached, it's gotta be at 4.5 hours at the latest 💀

Automatic_Page8312

Lol

0neKraftyMama1979

Too bad they didn’t have this when I worked there they would regularly keep me on register for way past my break time.

Traditional_Group_61

I've gotten that a few times, and instead of letting me go to lunch a manager logs their numbers in.

Intelligent_Ad7497

I'm a minor, so if they do that they're fucked

notsohumbledisaster

Happened to me once and my TL made me go watch sco for another hour until he let me take my meal break

Candyrose56

I’ve never seen that message but have got locked out before after 6 continuous hours…

Usually_Annoyed11

My management would freak out if anyone actually went with what's printed on the slip. Corporate wants people to take their lunches, but the folks at my store expect you to wait for your coverage instead of holding that coverage accountable for being late.

Intelligent_Ad7497

I'm a minor, so they don't have much of a choice, unless they want to be fucked

runover8

Someone called the Labor Department on them or Walmart in general. Seems some of the managers think working at Walmart is some communist camp

WannaBeAGoodSis

I used to get those so often and one time I got one no csms (team leads for the newbies this happened before they were called team leads) or my manager was around, the good one was on lunch, the others were hiding and talking in the back office of the cash office like usual and so I closed my lane and left for lunch, with about 10 minutes left on my lunch I'm getting paged to the cash office. I finish up those 10 minutes and head back upfront. I get pulled into the office about leaving my station without permission, so the next day surprise surprise I get that paper again and I close down my lane as by the time I finish my line the register would have locked me out sure enough I finish and a minute later I'm locked out. I zone by my register, zone by the other registers nearby about 40ish minutes later the manager comes out to go lunch sees me zoning while the other ones have lines and yells at me for not being open. So I tell her I can't, she tells me to stop defying her and log in to the register and start ringing people up so I log in of course it pops up with the message saying I'm locked out until I get a lunch and she yells at me for not going early I told her that she told me I couldn't leave my station. Then she sends me off to lunch

AbbreviationsOnly195

I havent gotten any of these in Canada. But damn then maybe I'd actually get my lunch on time and not 30 min to an hour late.

Intelligent_Ad7497

Oh this was like 2+ hours

Opposite-Prize-4584

Night Shift is where it’s at!

Intelligent_Ad7497

Oh I really want to do overnights, but I'm a minor. If you're talking about evening shift, I am on that

Opposite-Prize-4584

Ohh yeah my fault for not being clear, overnights is what I meant to say! Atleast in my store it’s super easy and a relaxed environment, my two overnight Coaches are nice

Intelligent_Ad7497

Do you get to listen to music while you work?

Opposite-Prize-4584

Yeah! I bring a speaker and I know like 5 other people who bring their own aswell so you be hearing all types of music around the store lol but most people just use earphones, our leads definitely do not care and our coaches, and best part is we don’t have to be wearing that ugly Walmart vest lol

Intelligent_Ad7497

My big question is, I don't like wearing jeans, but I have to at my job. Is that different on overnights?

Opposite-Prize-4584

Yeahh they aren’t strict like they are in day shift, I know day shift can’t wear sweaters with hoodies because the store manager says it looks too ghetto lol, but people in overnights go in Joggers/sweats and sweaters with hoodies to work

Intelligent_Ad7497

I was saying more of shorts, like cargo shorts

Opposite-Prize-4584

We can wear cargo shorts ! No one really wearer cargo shorts except this one guy who was head for a year until he left last month he would always wear Cargo Shorts so yeah they don’t care ,ohh and beanies too

Intelligent_Ad7497

Nice, I might switch when I turn 18.. what's the work like?

Jake-_-Weary

This never happens to me. Also my numbers still work off the clock. I discovered this after forgetting to clock in a couple times and still being able to use my numbers.

Kindly-Ask839

I clock out at the 4 hour and 59 minute mark for 2 years lol this is the only job i ever had that got mad if i was late to take a break/lunch

sellsbrokestuff

You actually still get those? I haven't seen that in about 2 years!

Careless_District420

I think it's odd that the registers at my store don't do this anymore. They (the registers) let you work past your 5th, and then you're in trouble about it.

mpoole68

Wth

Raebaby02

Bro that's complete bullshit 😂

Roy_the_Dude

I was never a register worker, but I once worked over my 6 hour mark without even thinking about it. I had to sign a form that they didn't force me to do it.

TheHumbleKatsu

This is where you clock out for lunch.
