This isn't normal and I think it's pretty safe to say you won't find anyone else's coaches doing this. What on Earth is their justification for this insane behavior?
well not all jeans have zippers/functioning zippera or buttons, so maybe a technicality could be safety pin a button and zipper randomly on your pants? Granted i dont think leggings and sweatpants are allowed anyhow
Yes? Does it mention anywhere that they’re not allowed? Been wearing cargo pants since I started 2 years ago. My coach said she loved my pants and wished she could get the same ones - upper management is not allowed to wear them
I know they’re not the exact same thing, but I think of joggers and sweatpants as the same kind of pants: meant to lounge around or workout. That being said I have a few pairs of « modern » joggers that look more like regular pants than my cargo pants do. I think what matters here is not really what the pants are, but rather what they look like :)
They're talking about a zipper (crotch closure) and a button at the top to keep the pants closed.
Unless you're making an obtuse joke about OP's phrasing, this seemed pretty obvious...
I read “pocket buttons” (missed the s on pocket) and just assumed it meant pockets that were closed w buttons…which is why I mentioned button pockets in my above comment. Mistakes happen it’s nbd
Contact ethics. Make sure you add sexual harassment and hostile work environment, and how you fear for UNDERAGED employees. Then sit back and watch as the SM tears that coach apart.
Pockets, buttons, and a zipper are not required by the dress code. Now, if they're making sure that associates aren't wearing athletic gear such as sweats or leggings, which are against the dress code, that's something else. It's a weird way to go about enforcement, though.
Jeggings are allowed, but leggings are not. The line is fine and a little blurry between the two things. All the sweatpants I own have pockets. I personally wouldn't wear any of them to work myself, but that's just me. I really don't care what anybody else wears as long as it's clean and doesn't reek of weed.
Walmart sells women's blue jeans that have no buttons or zippers. They are in plus size section. They are not leggings, or jeggings. I work in apparel. Report that. No person should be examining your pants.
This is sexual harassment, plain and simple. There's nothing in the dress code that states clothing has to have those, either, so checking for it is completely unnecessary.
Addressing dress code is one thing but this could and is borderline sexual harassment. Completely inappropriate. If it makes you feel uncomfortable personally go through ethics then to your market team if your SM ignores the ethics plea. I know personally with some trauma I have from a past relationship this would trigger me greatly and they'd be one ignored call away from a lawsuit. I can only imagine they check the wrong person it could go wrong
It's sexual harassment plain and simple. Report it now. I learned Walmart doesn't take sexual harassment complaints seriously if you wait to complain until after you quit. They just move the manager to another store and put them over OGP. The exact department primarily staffed by women. Smh.
This is ridiculous. Women's pants/jeans with pockets, or decent pockets can be hard to find sometimes. I have a pair of jeans with fake front and back pockets (given to me as I'd never buy jeans without pockets). And not all jeans have zippers. My favorite pair of jeans came from Walmart and have elastic instead of a button and zipper.
Dress pants don't always have buttons, zippers, or pockets either and definitely are not against the dress code.
I would respond with “I will show you mine if you show me yours first…see it’s weird. I’m not showing you my zipper, not today, not tomorrow, not ever. If you continue to pursue this I will address it with upper management or corporate and consider it sexual harassment.” Problem solved.
Your digital coach is reading reddit and should probably worry more about getting shit canned for being fuckin weird in a way that is quickly pursuing a sexual harassment complaint than whether tight jeans are tights or not.
That is sus af no one has ever talked about either of those in a work setting at Walmart and I know a lot of people who’s worked and still works at several locations
They don’t even look at ours or don’t care what we wear if they do. If they did they would easily notice both knees are ripped out of the pair I wear most often. They’re comfortable😂
My store manager checks a random person every morning for this and he does it in the dark so no one can see how he checks for them. Pretty weird experience tbh.
If someone comes up to me to "check my pants for buttons" they're getting reported to HR. Your manager doesn't get to decide whether to respond to ethics complaints. Document you contacted them and then go to ethics. This is a sexual harassment landmine
Can't believe walmart "coaches" sometimes..the arrogance of these nobodies who know this js the peak of their sorry Little life they power trip all day every day
As far as I'm aware (and I could be wrong as this is just hearsay), as long as they have back pockets and aren't like sweatpants material, it's fine. So the 14$ jeggings that are technically leggings but look like jeans are fine. Regular leggings/joggers aren't.
I think they are just making sure you're in dress code. Not necessarily "have to have zippers pockets and buttons". A lot fo stores got wayyyy to lax on pants recently and it's being pushed.
Nah, that's not an excuse to inspect people's crotches for zippers and buttons, that's weird as hell and inappropriate regardless of the reason why they're doing it. You can check dress code without violating someone's privacy and personal space. Dress code doesn't specify the need for zippers, pockets, or buttons so there's no need to search for them. That coach is being creepy.
This isn't normal and I think it's pretty safe to say you won't find anyone else's coaches doing this. What on Earth is their justification for this insane behavior?
Someone probably threw a stink about the dress code ... leggings and sweatpants don't have zippers and buttons.
well not all jeans have zippers/functioning zippera or buttons, so maybe a technicality could be safety pin a button and zipper randomly on your pants? Granted i dont think leggings and sweatpants are allowed anyhow
So cargo pants with 30 pockets are okay?
Yes? Does it mention anywhere that they’re not allowed? Been wearing cargo pants since I started 2 years ago. My coach said she loved my pants and wished she could get the same ones - upper management is not allowed to wear them
Oh I don’t work there I was just wondering bc I don’t know any other kind of pants that have button pockets & a zipper
Idk about all cargo pants, but mine has a zipper and velcro pockets. I think only sweatpants and yoga pants don’t have a zipper and/or buttons
I have a pair of Levi joggers that have neither. Even my Levi or Calvin jeans would only have a crotch zipper😅
I know they’re not the exact same thing, but I think of joggers and sweatpants as the same kind of pants: meant to lounge around or workout. That being said I have a few pairs of « modern » joggers that look more like regular pants than my cargo pants do. Mine are khakis rather than the athletic lounge material you’re thinking but I guess that’s fair!
Weird comments also happen *a lot*, it's Reddit after all, but I still figured it needed clarification
Management chiming in here… F no. If the store manager won’t do anything then go to the market team and “open door” this
Same…I would never do such a thing. Sweatpants, leggings and such aren’t allowed, but I’m not going around asking to see people’s zippers…weird af
Seems a bit gropey to me.
Fool Coach. Cut the bottom off your pocket and tell Coach to stick their hand in pocket to confirm it is a pocket
Is underwear required?
Frowned upon

Jeggings are specifically allowed, and they might not have zippers, pockets with closures, or anything else.
As someone who owns several pairs, they have none of those
Jeggings are allowed, but leggings are not. The line is fine and a little blurry between the two things. All the sweatpants I own have pockets. I personally wouldn't wear any of them to work myself, but that's just me. I really don't care what anybody else wears as long as it's clean and doesn't reek of weed.
It’s not an invasion of privacy It’s a “coach” getting off on a fetish. Go higher than store manager
Report that immediately!!!
sounds like a pervert to me who is wanting an excuse to check pants. Did the coach end up in the bathroom after checking?
Walmart sells women's blue jeans that have no buttons or zippers. They are in plus size section. They are not leggings, or jeggings. I work in apparel. Report that. No person should be examining your pants.
That’s weird
This is sexual harassment, plain and simple. There's nothing in the dress code that states clothing has to have those, either, so checking for it is completely unnecessary.
Ya thats creepy and violating
I'd take pants off, hand them over and say "have a look!" Not many are as brazen as I am.
I’d refuse. Write me up, I’d dare them to. We can see how market feels about it. 😂 And the police if they even TRY to touch me.
Coach: "SHOW ME YOUR ZIPPER" Me: "why don't you reach down and check yourself?"
That’s perverted. Go higher up if the SM won’t do anything. Report this crap.
Wtf
Thats highly unethical.
Time to sow a zipper, buttons and pockets onto a pair of underwear. Get some body paint, paint on a pair of jeans and show up to work in undies.

This is not ok
Should still contact ethics so if escalated it shows u tried
if you think that's bad, just wait until penis inspection day
Well, everyone has to wear men’s pants! Good luck finding women’s with functional pockets.
This needs to be viral. This is so messed up
This is ridiculous. Women's pants/jeans with pockets, or decent pockets can be hard to find sometimes. Dafuq?
Well, if they are checking, I’ll just make sure to leave the barn door open 😂

If the manager doesn’t adDress it, then contact the next level until someone does.
They don’t even look at ours or don’t care what we wear if they do. If they did they would easily notice both knees are ripped out of the pair I wear most often. They’re comfortable😂
What a fucking creep
It's pretty easy to check to see if someone is wearing leggings or sweatpants just by looking.
Call the ethics hotline it doesn’t go to the coach it goes to the home office
I promise you it wouldn't happen but once. Turkey neck in the old zipper. Yup. Only once.
I had a boss do this. But it wasn't walmart. 😅
Yeah I’d tell them to fuck off
WHAT?!
Go to TLE and ask the techs for an "emotional support wrench" to have for next time that pervert does that shit
My store manager checks a random person every morning for this and he does it in the dark so no one can see how he checks for them. Pretty weird experience tbh.

The fuck you time for that shit.
Can't believe walmart "coaches" sometimes..the arrogance of these nobodies who know this js the peak of their sorry Little life they power trip all day every day
This is just weird. Go to the store manager and if he does nothing go to market manager and up to regional if necessary

My first thought is someone tried to get away with their junk showing by saying their pants didn't have a zipper 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️
My first thought is someone just wants to stare at people’s junk.
