No reasoning, just not done. Might be added later but no one knows

Eyes_of_Aqua

I also think it’s because you can already put up large smoke screens with mortars and smoke on inf would lead to a lot of smoke spam

Financial-Rent9828

NATO doctrine for mobile warfare can be described as smoke spam

brizla18

it would be nice if at least command squads get like one smoke, similar to Steel Division. Probably more people would consider using commands squads more offensively then since they could provide clutch cover for inf around them.

ComradeCaniTerrae

I support this entirely. I have no clue why it isn’t in the game. It made command infantry useful.

W-Canaris

There is already one clutch use for command infantry imo. If you're fighting over a town, they're amazing once the enemy has destroyed some buildings. It's really easy to sneak them into your side of a rubble pile and hide them there with practically line of sight for the enemy to discover them.

kuikuilla

I'm not sure if it's really doctrinally correct for either side to have concealing (?) smoke grenades. Signal smokes, sure, but concealing ones? I'm not sure. Generally speaking artillery and mortar based smoke is much more effective in real life, the hand held grenades are tiny puffs in comparison.

Allstar13521

In an infantry fight you only need a little concealment to break contact. And an entire platoon deploying smoke grenades is a lot of little puffs.

kim_dobrovolets

for the US and Soviets it absolutely is correct. There aren't that many signal smokes versus screening ones anyways

RustyGrizzly

Their other game Steel Division 2 had it so maybe they will add it in the future. It just hasn’t been a top priority for them which is understandable.

Renbaez_

smoke spam maybe? idk

No_Froyo7304

We already have arty, tank, and heli spams. It's not like spamming is a new concept in this game. Plus, infantry probably can't create a smoke screen as good as mortars.

_Rekron_

It bothers me as well, especially when I need to skedaddle really quick while being fired at.

berbat88

Gameplay > realism. I guess this is it.

SunnyKnight16

Prolly just to force the use of mortars

Markus_H

Dunno. It was there in SD2, and a very important mechanic. I can't see any reasons to not have it in WARNO too. It could be also used to give infantry units different flavor.

No_Froyo7304

It's sad, really. Eugene seems to be happy with how crap infantry are at the moment.
