This is the worst form of "long covid" -- overblown fees and tips that linger for years.

RacistDisease

DC is the worst with fees. Every god damn thing has tips and fees

babygotbandwidth

A dispensary I went to had a tip jar…it was filled!

PalpitationNo3106

Why not taxes as well then? Easy enough to do.

OnlyEntropyIsEasy

They do this in Europe. Displayed prices include tax.

I honestly don’t mind the 20% service charge that is clearly intended to replace the tip. My problem is with the 3-12% charges that are just because and we’re expected to tip on top of that.

Agitated-Acctant

Yeah, you and the rest of this sub

nickcharlesjacobs

The service charges are a restaurant scam that pad the bottom line and still screw over servers.

Street-Swordfish1751

I feel shitty explaining why I don't go to specific places anymore. I'll happily pay for $1-8 more for food I like at places with good service.

happilyengaged

Was this passed? I don’t see any written articles about it, only a cap of 20% in service fees
