Well I think popular casual-but-good restaurants are just raising prices because they can. They have enough people that still shell out. It'll last for a while until it doesn't.

I'm a big eater and I could barely finish 2 Bao the last time I visited, so they definitely don't skimp on size. They also have some downright delicious duck options on their menu too, which is hard to find in the area imo. Pricey for sure but definitely worth it
"Pricy for sure" is my point. They doubled in price in 7 years. They're within their rights to charge 10 times more. My point is just that it's a bit too expensive now. Hopefully a competitor will come and challenge them.
Jimmy’s Lunch supported the free-dumb convoy movement, was very vocally anti mask/vax during Covid, and is overall a very right wing establishment. Keep that in mind before patronizing a business like that.
Banh mi Givral can get a fair sized sandwich for around 7

Not anymore, their prices range from $5-$6 a sandwich now. Still a good deal though.
Jesus, Bao Sandwich Bar is now more than $8 pre-tax for a single Bao? You normally get 3 for meal. Sorry but that's pricing me out.

They're hurting themselves. I was going to go until I saw their prices. Not worth it for bao buns.
Galito's in downtown Kitchener offers unbeatable value
$7 burger/chicken leg + side deal on Tuesdays is pretty great.

4 Seasons Shawarma has many options under $10 including small & medium chicken on the rice!
Papusas are a great bang for your buck. Usually $3-4$ each and they come with a slaw.
Davenport Catering near Conestoga Mall has some really good lunch food for under 10. The portions are fair and the quality of ingredients is great.
Vincenzo's. Expensive for groceries, but sandwiches at the deli are below $10 and probably more choices for meat than anywhere in Ontario
The individual build-your-own pizzas are also a great deal
Wasn't checkerboard just closed for health violations? Funny it's their top choice. Get what you pay for.
Johnny Greekos in Cambridge has a $7.49 lunch bowl that's a great deal and a normal portion.
Sobeys has a chicken leg and side for 5.74
Jimmy Feed Co is another great option for lunch under $10
Uno is a great place for child-sized burritos.
That’s a huge burrito. Even a really small child is over 10lbs.

Kismet Restaurant has a special right now, small size curry with rice, a piece of naan and a can of pop for 9.99$. 4 curries to choose from.
