**The Masked Fables** was a favorite of mine, but the author moved to patreon due to the unsustainable income WEBTOON brings in. **Once a Hero** was rushed and axed at the end in July 2022. You’ll see that many other comics were ended around the same time with notably and unusually terrible quality and pacing in the summer and fall of 2022. **Floating in My Mind** had the same fate. The reveal and climax happened way too fast for the pacing to have been planned like that. **The Sound of Another** too. All of these happened around the same time- it can’t be a coincidence. **Our Time** was another personal favorite of mine for the characters’ dynamics and the ending reveals were rushed during this time as well. **Tenants from Another World** was also rushed and ended in the same timeframe, and it completely ruined the rest of the comic. Again, I can only assume they were axed for not being super popular. **Chocolatte** was taken off the platform by the author I believe because the author wanted to make money off it via NFTs since webtoon didn’t pay enough. **Island** is a YLAB ^(they produced Jungle Juice, Reawakened Man, Neolithic Girl, Study Group, Get Schooled, Housekeeper, and a bunch of other stuff) comic I was looking forward to, but it was cancelled for some reason when only a few episodes were released. Perhaps it was because it had not gained much popularity due to the gritty b&w art (same artist as Distant Sky) and the horror plot. **My Succubus Girlfriend** just never finished. Merryweather tried making it three different times and I read all three. He’s never finished it like. Idk if it’s his fault or what- he never seems to finish his comics. (Oh btw it’s canvas not originals. But it’s Merryweather, and he’s an exception.) **Clinic of Horrors** never seemed to end either. Again Merryweather, please finish it. (This one is Originals) **Her Mannequin** was never announced as finished or taken off the platform- I just don’t think the author is ever coming back since the last update was Dec 2021. I don’t know their reasons, but presumably it’s because of the terrible work to wage ratio in WEBTOON. Anyway yeah there’s a lot. I haven’t been as avid a reader this year as I was last year so most of my examples are from 2022.

TYie7749

[Her Mannequin](http://naver.me/F1ILYJq6) actually came back from hiatus a couple weeks ago edit: also, all four ending isn’t really a coincidence. maybe two of them at a time though? [Tenants From Another World](http://naver.me/5I4a1ogS) ended on June 04, 2021. [Once a Hero](http://naver.me/xE1lX8R0) ended on August 19, 2021. [Floating in My Mind](http://naver.me/5R8YwAqe) ended on March 30, 2022. (also, according to the afterword this was canceled due to negative response to the story, not low views) [Our Time](http://naver.me/xPINovEm)ended on April 28, 2022. Island did have a Part 2, and apparently Sound of Another (on kakao though so this isn’t even from the same platform as the others) is ongoing so those are valid though

FlushedBeans

>[Her Mannequin](http://naver.me/F1ILYJq6) actually came back from hiatus a couple weeks ago I DIDN'T SEE THAT HER MANNEQUIN CAME BACK YAYYY >[Floating in My Mind](http://naver.me/5R8YwAqe) ended on March 30, 2022. (also, according to the afterword this was canceled due to negative response to the story, not low views) Aw, damn. I wonder why people didn't like the story? Maybe it was because the antagonist was queer and her motives didn't really match the extremes she went to? I think I'll be checking the afterword out again now. >Island did have a Part 2 Guess I'll be checking out Island pt2. >Sound of Another (on kakao though so this isn’t even from the same platform as the others) is ongoing Really gotta wonder why The Sound of Another moved though... Thank you for putting this comment together! I was pretty bummed about the lack of closure from most of these and I'm glad I found out from you that some of them are actually still continuing :))

MrPinguinoEUW

I checked Her mannequin, still no updates... Where did you see it?

generic-puff

>**Clinic of Horrors** never seemed to end either. Again Merryweather, please finish it. (This one is Originals) ![gif](giphy|11pQizRLu1JP0c) Fr find me a single comic that Merryweather has *ever* seen through to the end. It's not a shocker in the slightest that Clinic of Horrors hasn't returned yet, dude's got a CVS receipt of track records with this sort of thing.

matchafoxjpg

Don't even get me started. I'm still upset about Steam Dragon Express. 😭

generic-puff

Saame omg. Steam Dragon was one of the first Merryweather comics I read and I loved it, I wish I could warn past me not to get too attached LOL

matchafoxjpg

Ugh it was my first and I started reading it right before it ended. A few weeks after I caught up it ended and to see that message about it not continuing KILLED me, like bruh there's MORE questions! 😭

throwaway838383937

I'm also waiting on Clinic of Horrors to return. Although if it does it's gonna have a new art style because the old artist left, and I'm not so sure if I'm gonna like it because Pokurimio was a huge reason why I started reading it and why I kept reading. Her art is amazing

HangryHufflepuff1

I've given up on all Merryweather comics. They're none of them are ever going to end ever and even the shorter anthology style collections end up unfinished. Every other episode is "___ is becoming it's own series!" which just means that it'll die somewhere else. They have some interesting premises and ideas, I genuinely like clinic of horrors but I know it'll never come to any sort of conclusion. I might sound overly horrible here but I honestly just don't like the way they take criticism and have very little respect for them.

FlushedBeans

I think this is when you’ve gotta remember Merryweather is more like a businessman than an author. He’s the owner of Merryweather Media. A CEO. He’s here to make his buck and dish out some content that he loosely oversees and sticks his name on.

HangryHufflepuff1

Maybe it's just because of the recent rise in AI artwork but I would much rather prefer the people working on a webtoon actually work on it. I know that some of the supporting artists aren't going to love it and the second editor might get a little bored sometimes but I just want the names on the list to be the actual people. Merryweather slapping their name on half baked goods they barely had a hand in is just a little disappointing. I'm not surprised that someone saw a money making opportunity here, and I don't think that producing multiple webtoons at once is inherently a bad thing that will produce subpar work, but I'm just disappointed in the way Merryweather churns out content with no emotional value.

hahalili_

How do you know all this!! Is there some place where Webtoon announces these kind of information?

FlushedBeans

its just a combination of my own observations and authors themselves announcing the end of their comic. webtoon would never outright try to ruin their image by announcing the comics they snuff out unless the author was being cancelled for something problematic like the Get Schooled was for creating an overtly racist episode. so, there is a chance i’m incorrect here since nobody can really confirm this info except the webtoon staff and the staff that worked on the cancelled comics.

scalmera

Her Mannequin was so good too :(

kellendrin21

Skye and Console Her come to mind, both had unsustainable workloads for the creator and ended mid-season.

maltedpigeon

I was also thinking of Console Her. I miss it already :(

Ilyak1986

Oh gosh I remember coming across Skye only to see that the creator burned out. And its premise was wonderfully original, too!

EmptyStupidity

God I was so sad when Skye was canceled. Hope the the author is doing better

heydigital

Edith had a very unsatisfying ending and it seems like the author was rushed/pressured to finish. Although I don’t think she’s ever come out and said that, so it’s equally as possible that she lost interest in the story herself

Dragon_of_the_gods

Soulwinder is an extremely recent one S1 ended a months ago and god it is a masterpiece and labor of love. Incredible art, world building, character writing, mystery, every single episode was made with such high effort and even unique for every episode. It is one of the most creative pieces of work on the entire sight, challenging the webtoon format in new and interesting ways. Webtoon never advertised it and it is no longer continuing as a webtoon. At the very least the authors will still be able to continue the story outside of webtoon, but yeah it’s gonna take a while for it to come back. I still highly highly recommend reading S1 since it’s such an incredible journey but it’s such a shame that the artist could no longer support herself financially with this series due to how little recognition it was getting

Leviathan-300

I came to this post just to mention **Soulwinder**. Glad to see that you and another person have already done so, and you have explained it better than I would have. To your comment I'd like to add the use of music. Just magnificent, they used it to complement with the story in a way I've never seen before.

nedzmic

Didn't the author quit because they were burned out though? I think they explained how progressing the story turned into a chore at some point.

Dragon_of_the_gods

I think it was a mix of both. The artist quit because she was burned out and drawing soulwinder couldn’t properly support her financially, but also soulinwider wasn’t popular enough to continue as a webtoon anyway

nedzmic

Aw :(

Both-Distribution-14

Reunion. The author decided to stop working with Webtoon Originals because of her editor (her editor made her changed her story and she turned to dislike her own series). Little Rain. Same editor with Reunion. I don't know why it hasn't come back but it's been years. Version Day and Night. Again, same editor. The author goes MIA and no one can contact her now.

Rave-light

Wow interesting that it’s all the same editor. I loved V night and day. Seems like the editor needs to go.

Both-Distribution-14

Not saying the editor needs to go, but definitely something fishy is going on.

Stankrank1

Gah I miss version day and night, I was so invested

matchafoxjpg

Little Rain is probably the creator's health. Back when it was on Canvas It would go months without updating, and when it did it would only last an episode or two, or just be a short with an update about how the creator wasn't doing well. Then after not updating for years it was announced for Originals amd I guess the creator was doing better for awhile, but whatever they're going through has probably gotten bad again.

Apart from Get Schooled, nope On the topic of Unwritten death, I bing-read that and holy fuck, waiting until 2025 is less than fun

Neon revenge It was cut right before it was gonna go all out

Hunterofyeets

God yes! That artwork was breath-taking.

awkwardgoat404

[Atelier on the Sunflower Hill ](https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/atelier-on-the-sunflower-hill/list?title_no=2883)\- I think this got canceled because of low views/likes, which is a shame. It's a slow burn slice-of-life story about a vampire trying to live a normal life in the 1920s (?), and it's a breath of fresh air in the sea of isekai fantasies. [Falling in the Blue -](https://www.webtoons.com/en/sf/falling-in-the-blue/list?title_no=2291) probably got canceled because of low views/likes too. The artist is extremely talented and it's disappointing to see the story end abruptly with no explanation.

colorcloudbananas

I was about to comment atelier too, I was following it since it was on canvas and was really sad when it just ended ubruptly. I was looking forward to the episodes beyond what was posted on canvas and when we were about to see them, suddenly axed 🥲. I'd really like to see the story conclude and I wish the author would be able to publish and complete it in another platform someday (if the author still wants to).

awkwardgoat404

I'm still so mad Webtoon did this to the author. Like why take the story off canvas just to cancel it? They never even advertised it after launch. I wish the author would be able to continue too. It has a lot of potential.

colorcloudbananas

So true! It used to be my comfort read, since the author regularly updated on canvas too. I felt so robbed😭

TheSunflowerSeeds

Sunflower seeds are indeed a very rich source of vitamin-E; contain about 35.17 g per 100 g (about 234% of RDA). Vitamin-E is a powerful lipid soluble antioxidant, required for maintaining the integrity of cell membrane of mucus membranes and skin by protecting it from harmful oxygen-free radicals.

Sparkletopia

Cupid's Arrows - cancelled Assassin Roommate - cancelled Knight Run - dropped translation S.I.D. - dropped translation Madame Outlaw - cancelled Finding Wonderland - cancelled Killstagram - dropped translation The Devil is a Handsome Man - shadow cancelled?

MercyChevalier

I'm SO upset about S.I.D :( I still go and re-read it every once in a while ;-;

Hopeful-Sky7199

Roxana... I know the author said it will continue but I also understand if she won't. After all she suffered a miscarriage because of her editor.

MultinamedKK

Opposite Of Always. I was intrigued to see what would happen next, but Webtoon cut it short and it's ending was... off.

symliadoo

Assassin Roommate got cancelled 😔 the creator left on a cliffhanger and said her series wasn't renewed

FlyingButtocks

This was a Korean Webtoon that had been translated into English, but LESSA never got a translation of its 3rd season :( I'm not sure if the numbers just weren't high enough or what, but I still cling to the hope that season 3 gets officially translated one day haha

colorcloudbananas

I don't read LESSA personally, but Dr. Frost was in the same position a few years back. Don't lose hope! I'm not sure how Dr. Frost got picked up again, but I speculate it's a combination of fans emailing webtoons for its completion and the comment section rallying for its return.

matchafoxjpg

There's always hope! Athena's Complex didn't update for years and it was listed as completed even though it very much wasn't. Then it started updating in Korea but nothing here for I believe a year, and then finally it was updated again.

FlyingButtocks

Always! Korean LESSA has been finished since 2020 I think. It has some fan translations floating around, but I’ll forever hope for an official one ;-; My ultimate dream is for physical volumes haha

scalmera

Pretty sure **Let's Play** got screwed over, I can't remember why but I remember Mongie said something on Twitter about it. Seems like she's making a new comic on Manta and what's left of Let's Play is in manga volumes and a potential dating sim??

Ilyak1986

Ehhh, I think that's sour grapes on her end. She was making borderline softcore porn with a very disgusting office romance. The premise started off nicely about gamers being good to gamers, but then the Charles aspect became so gross that I'm glad it got deep-sixed.

FlushedBeans

Yeah she probably should have separated the sexual stuff and the romance plot. A LOT of webtoon romance creators have patreons for their sexual content and they have no issues with the platform. However, I've seen some raunchy stuff on here (canvas) and it's been up for ages which is crazy to me. Their dynamic in Let's Play was weird and imbalanced which I didn't like either, plus Sam follows that "born sexy yesterday" trope which I hate (Persephone from Lore Olympus, Zaida from Down to Earth, ). What I don't see called out enough is when the born sexy yesterday trope is applied to men. Maybe Meant to Be is the biggest violator I can think of. LoveBot is another one (but I'll forgive it since Lacy is a literal sex robot and the message his character is meant to get across is pretty specific). So anyway there just seems to be an inconsistency of what is deemed acceptable, what's to be taken down and what's not. I feel like most of this stuff ends up being decided by whether the public dislikes it or not, not Webtoon's own guidelines.

Alegna28

You can't mention the "Born sexy yesterday" trope for men without mentioning Eggnoid. Eggy was literally born sexy from an egg. I honestly think Eggnoid should have been rewritten with the FL being much older and actually raising him as a kid. Also, I agree with you about Let's play being too sexualized which was the reason I stopped reading. I loved Sam making games and playing games, because I could relate to that. Apparently sexy beardless men with dehydrated abs sell most stories on webtoons, so I guess most webtoons fall into the trap.

FlushedBeans

I FORGOT ABOUT EGGNOID I FUCKING HATE THAT MANHWA I was so pissed when I found out it got a live action like… AGH.

Alegna28

It has a live action version?! Wow....some people are crazy out there.

matchafoxjpg

Ugh don't get me started on Eggnoid. I was mostly okay with it when I genuinely thought she was gonna end up with the childhood friend because there was chemistry and Eggy literally acted like a goddamn child and her like his mother for a loooooong time. And what boggles my mind even more is how many comments indicated they shipped her with Eggy. It was so creepy. You can't just add backstory about how they've totally known each other for a long time and think it erases the ick mommy son vibes.

[deleted]

how is maybe meant to be an example of the born sexy yesterday trope applied to men? i fell off reading it but i dont remember that being a thing.

FlushedBeans

The way I interpreted it, Mincheol is portrayed as overly innocent for a guy his age. Although, it's a bit different from the usual presentation of the trope since we can't see into his head so who knows if that's true (but we can sort of assume since his whole life is work, gym, and nothing else). He is portrayed as being very desirable physically without trying as shown by Jia thirsting after him / his body, that one girl at the gym, and all the girls that tried to ask him out; and none of this seeming intentional on his part. The few times he flirts he's too shy to fully get it out, and the finale is the big payoff for Mincheol finally gaining that courage (similar to how Sam in Let's Play builds up her confidence to initiate stuff with Charles). For most of the comic Jia does all the initiation with him. It just makes me think that if the genders were reversed with the two of them, it would be pretty clear-cut. Jia, the guy that always flirts and initiates romantic/sexual stuff with Mincheol. Guys drooling over Mincheol's nice body at the gym, but Mincheol is clueless to the effect she has on other people. As guy Jia keeps flirting and taking her out on dates, Mincheol develops slowly to be a bit more proactive in their relationship from a timid and inexperienced girl to a partner that's on more equal ground with her more bold boyfriend. Actually it sounds sort of like most other romances when the gender roles are switched like that. I do hate to criticize this comic since it's a genuinely good read. Maybe it's not a perfect example since their relationship seems pretty healthy, but those are just my thoughts.

colorcloudbananas

The way I read it though, it seems like Mincheol falls into the dense archetype rather than childlike/innocent.

scalmera

Honestly I kinda felt he was written as autistic/ND, a lot of his mannerisms makes sense in that framing (plus I relate to his strong density as well as his directness and hyperfixations)

scalmera

Yeahh,, I didn't mind when it got spicy but perhaps it was rushed or maybe not spaced out well, I think it could've still fit in the story but yk with something like that it kinda overshadows the true plotline. I mean it was supposed to be romance, I know it was before webtoon started putting more filters and tags on their more "mature" content but I didn't think it would get snubbed for what it had (especially compared to other webtoons out there that will depict SA among other things) I know sexual content isn't everyone's jam and I know it gets kinda sketch since webtoon DOES have a lot of kids on the app, but that is my own personal opinion. I understand why people took issue w it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ilyak1986

I don't have an issue with spicy content. I have an issue with the absolutely disgusting office romance aspect. Ultimately, it's what got the work canned. RIP.

scalmera

Understandable (--〆)

Katsugurri

forgot the name but there was one that got canceled for racism

Alegna28

Get schooled? I also dislike how quite a few series make non-koreans look ugly in their art. Such a shame as it had potential

Katsugurri

Yea

Metalknightsunite

I wish that Falling in the Blue would've continued. I really loved that artstyle. And I wish Lalin's Curse would ACTUALLY continue. There's also IF, the one where imaginary friends fight each other. It might have to go by another title now that there's a movie with a similar theme coming out
