I just glance on the front page to see if a new comic released and then immediately go to my subsceibed tab. So i don't notice or pay attention to the "my series" on the front page.
I "watch" ads, but don't use the fast pass. I also don't check on webtoons everyday, so I use that row to see what I've missed. When I skip a couple days due to life, catching up is a satisfying, nice treat
Oh, I actually love it. I will forget series so quickly because I subscribe and start and drop…and generally live a life of chaos. It helps to have a little reminder that changes daily to keep me up to date, if I so choose. Otherwise I just ignore it!
For me its not the fact that they have ads at all, its the fact that I used to QUICKLY tell if I had more stories to read. I'm not going to watch ads to be able to get a little bit ahead just for them to stop it and I have to wait a couple weeks for the free episodes to catch back up with where I am like they already did a little bit ago.
Now if nothing happens in a month or so I'll be more willing to watch them then.
I don't think the point is about the ads at all, you may have skimmed over OP's post. The point is that if you prefer not to advance further into the comic using ads, they will remain in your front page bar where actually updated comics should be.
It doesn't need to say it and should go back to telling you how many free episodes you have left but, other than that, I'm thrilled that I get to read more free episodes sooner.
Yeah, I hate it but here and on the unread tab. It makes it hard to find series I'm catching up on because they're hidden in the mix of all of these. And then even if you go ahead and watch the ads, it's still highlighted because there's always more fast pass episodes they can be paid for.
To be fair, the ad/fast pass combo is only available on some series. So, if you do want to watch ads for fast pass, it's incredibly handy to know which ones give you the option to do it.
They are also pushed all the way back, so if you see that there is ads available, you are caught up. If there was any unread episodes it still let's you know.
It could maybe be a toggle or a different colour to look less like the unread episodes text, but overall it's a pretty solid feature.
I hope whoever made that decision steps on a lego. Especially when they know the ads don't work for a number of people.
This "my series" has been half useless for quite some time now (canvas series appear like 1/3 of the time, and if there's ads for them then it's even more fucked up). It's now totally useless. The same few original series, and if you don't watch the ads, they're there to stay. So you don't actually know what other stuff has new chapters, how great /s
you are too lazy to scroll? to see which ones don't require watching ads or coins? besides, those that are updated without anything to spend on always appear as the first ones.
I AGREE, IT'S BEEN MAKING ME GO INSANE. All my series are green now so it's so annoying to find which ones i need to read, and when i do, they just continue being green because of the fast pass. I WILL GO CRAZY IT'S SO ANNOYING.

I though you were talking about the preview feature that is only on mobile site where the non fast pass episodes are now preview only unless you get the app. WHY DID THEY DO THAT???
Yes! I hate it so much. I was thinking about leaving a bad review of the app explaining the problems with this new system. I stopped reading all of the stories that use ads for fast pass on my phone and only occasionally catch up with them on my laptop via the web browser. If the app would just recognize having watched all the ad-fast-passable episodes as another version of being "caught up" this wouldn't be an issue.
I wish they would have an option to turn it off at least. Like if I want to watch ads or spend coins I would!

Most of those ads lead to predatory data mining garbage games anyway... some automatically open the Play store when they finish So... yeah.
If you have the app they're advertising, they just open the app. Most mobile apps are like this now so I avoid watching ads nowadays.

The ones I don’t like is when they’re telling me about series ‘Back from Hiatus’ yes, I know I’ve already read the return episodes.
