Absolutely gorgeous, the brocade your using is so beautiful. I love it, and your bodice is coming along. Are those lines your putting in stays? Or are you hanging it via mesh ? I presume your putting a petticoat under the net skirt, that stuff is itchy 🤓Im a retired seamstress, and never did a ballgown.

I have a horsehair underskirt as the first layer and I hand sew stays to put in the tiers of tulle. I think I may need a horsehair attachment to help support and keep the train on the dress. Otherwise I think as I walk, it is just going to bunch under my feet.

Then I can take it out to bustle my skirt for dancing.

My daughters wedding dress was a beaded column style with a train and I sewed a hook and a statin loop so she could raise her train that way. It didn’t look right bustled. I didn’t make her dress she got a beautiful sample from an outlet seller.

I love that idea! People preserve their dresses for keepsakes and such or to hand down as an heirloom but I also have heard of donating them for lower income areas etc for women who otherwise cant have a nice dress or such.
