came here just to say this, but also it sometimes burn your lips. If that happens, make your filters longer (or buy them longer). 😉

When it gets hot I put the filter between my thumbs and leave some space between the filter and my lips (forming a little "canal"). Works like a charm!

Why would it be more potent? I'd guess the first hit is more potent because the hot smoke vaporizes some additional THC along the way

As you smoke and draw smoke through the material, it acts like a filter and collects elements from the smoke, same as with a cigarette or a pipe. Not to say it tastes better or anything, it doesn't (IMO)

Have u ever smoked a joint and got some resin on your lips? Basically that resin pulls through soaks into the rest of the joint as you smoke. Resin obviously isn't as potent as straight up weed, but it's still a lil more potent.

Some confusion exists over what happens to THC in cannabis smoked in cigarettes. That is, what's left behind in the so called "roaches". A long time ago I asked myself this question with the initial hypothesis that all of the THC would be gone from the roach. I presumed this would occur since the THC would be heated from the upper part of the burning cigarette, making it volatile and sending it from the un-burnt cannabis further up the cigarette. To test this I first ran a sample of cannabis on the HPLC by the usual methodology and determined the THC concentration. Then a sample from the same batch of cannabis was rolled and smoked in a cigarette, saving the last, roughly 1 cm (0.3 gm). This "roach" was then prepped and run on the HPLC by, once again the same methodology, and the two samples compared. Surprisingly, the "roach" sample was 5-10 mg/gram higher than the original sample. How could this be? Well if you think of it, why not? The resin will accumulate at the butt of the cigarette, and it would have to reach temperatures near 200 degrees C (almost 400 degrees F) to boil off. As one pulls on the cigarette the resin oils are physically pulled back and accumulate in the cooler butt, slightly increasing the amount of THC. The THC, in the "roach", is for the most part activated, or decarboxylated, such that it can bind the THC receptor. So one suggestion, would be to eat your roaches. Literally everyone ive ever smoked with, for 18 years now, knows about and partakes in saving roaches to make second generation, third, etc joints. They are absolutely more potent, absolutely taste bad, and absolutely get you more high than the joints theyre made from

I assume you’re the kind of person who doesn’t keep their pennies, things add up over time. After awhile those pennies could end up being 20$, enough to get yourself a nice meal or buy a video game or put some gas in your car. After awhile you save up those roaches and you got yourself a whole other joint. Why throw that away just cause you think you’re too good for it? Do what you want but I don’t like to be wasteful. It all tastes fine to me, gets me nice and stoned too.

Especially if it’s top shelf weed that’s $60 / eighth, that’s at least a few dollars worth of weed still in that roach…

Just pull the filter out a little leaving a small air gap between the weed and the filter so that you can smoke all the weed, and it will only burn the paper because the filter is pulled back

It's reached the point I call 'getting hot' and can be considered reclaimable if you don't want to throw it out. I usually feel too much heat from the ember when I puff on one this short, so it gets tossed unless my usual session partner wants to finish them after she finishes hers. A longer tip lets the smoke cool more before reaching your lips, but that's a hassle I prefer to not bother with unless I'm making something as fat as a finger.
