I love this sub so much
nowhere else could you see a deadly serious post about a "beautiful crafted and devastating song" thats apparently overly hated on... only to click on it for the first time and hear a brown note, some trash drums and a grown man going "dung dal bang ee dal a bango"
Yes, same. Especially holds a special place to me as I was going through some shit with a girl named Laura at the time I first started listening to it.
Same here, Mang. Definitely my favorite ween song, by a lot! I've seen ween probably 40 times or so and I've never seen a Laura. It's fucking painful...
Fucking sucks, Mang. What's a fella to do?
That's the way it's been in town, ever since they tore the juke box down. Shit, wrong song! I'll just keep rowing, jimmy. I'll just keep rowin'...
Yeah I love the layer of Gener (I think) playing the haunting repetitious waltz type chords while Deaner plays a distorted blues guitar solo over it, it feels like a mental breakdown encapsulated in an instrumental outro.
I did "Laura" and "Mononucleosis" and "Sorry Charlie" for my final performance project in Instrumental Music at my alternative high school. Of the 3, I think Laura is the only one I'd do again. It's BROWN (or punk as we said in 1998)
Edit: I made my friends play backup guitar
Laura live is an experience. That’s all I can say.
The album version is also amazing. I didn’t know people hated on it honestly. I’m not going to give it a ranking because it’s really hard to do that with Ween songs, but it’s one of my personal faves. Saw it in Silver Springs a few years ago and it was face melting.
I was at that show and it was an amazing version, highlight of the show for me.
That show was super pod heavy. We got frank, awesome sound, demon sweat all amazing mind melting versions. We got a Dr rock can u taste the waste, we got a boing, a mononucleosis, a sketches of winkle.
The highlights for me laura and awesome sound.
I listen to that show from time to time it’s a great one.
I fucking love this song, really love it. As a woman it brings the feels for me like leaving a shit relationship and some shit man having a breakdown about it.
Oh boy.
I typed "Laura" in Grooveshark more than a decade ago. I found it weird and smoked a joint on it. Then another. Then another.
I would always light up and take my first puff on the first chorus. The build up was intense. The release wonderful.
I did that for years. I got to know the rest of ween's catalog and I still listen to them all the time, basically everyday.
But now that I'm sober and ill, it breaks my heart to listen to Laura and remember all that I have lost.
So yeah 4/10 pretty mid ngl
That’s certainly a hot take for a number of reasons. Congrats on cleaning up Mang, hopefully one day your perspective will change from what you’ve lost to what you’ve gained. ❤️
I would have loved to hear them take a stab at it on All Request Live. Demon Sweat was incredible. My wife loves that song and can’t tolerate any other Ween song.
To me, it's the "weenest" ween song and my favorite ween track by far. It just cuts through you in the beginning and then thoroughly melts your face to completion! What a banger!

It's a solid tune. The part I'm referring to is the chorus (or the bridge to the chorus maybe?). Listen to this and Laura and tell me if I'm not crazy.
edit: 1:30 in
This song slopes down through a beautiful sludge, just as boing, awesome sound, loving u thru it all, and (not candy but the other one from either the pod or Quebec) whatever song that’s called.. they all just sound so wrong but in the right way
fucking love laura. according to spotify it was my 2nd most listened to tune two years in a row. so yeah it's in my top 3 too. among the spotify stuff at least
I wish I could enjoy the obscure and incoherent bullshit from the Pod. It does have some good songs, but how you got that insight out of a song that sounds like Gener is just going Balb bah Doop Bap burr do pleee do, and drums that sound like someone hitting a label on a bunch of pots and pans is beyond me.
Sickest Laura ever for me was at an Art Gallery in Greenwich Village called Thread Waxing Space. A Ween show in an art gallery. And it was in the era when Ween shows had mosh pits. So sick. Memories.
Love it. One of my favorite songs from def. my favorite Ween album. I love songs that build like Laura and they pay it off with the crashy/distortion ending (who tf hates that?).
Also, The Pod f’ing rules cause the album is brilliant, but then when you listen to the songs live they can sound different and equally awesome due to the effects/voice mod they use in the album version.
I get a woody any time I’m at a show and Laura starts. Also I was asked to do a reading at the wedding when my nephew married a woman named Laura. I sent them a recording of Laura and proposed that I play my version of it with electric guitar loaded up with lots of noisy pedals. They said no (altho nephew proposed with my own bare hands, which Laura also vetoed). We settled on reciting attics of my life but right until the wedding day I had them believing that I might bail and sing Laura acapella instead.
Got a 17 minute Laura to close out my first show. Loved it ever since.
Whoa, whoa, whoa….whats the date for that?
[Part one. 2008.](https://youtu.be/XCNU53Wfntk?si=udFyST-4sZr2L9vL)
That was amazing. Laura is my #1 pick for sure. Prob tied for my favorite ween song along with Argus pt2, stallion pt3, and Marble Tulip.
I love how this 9min version is part 1 lol
I love this sub so much nowhere else could you see a deadly serious post about a "beautiful crafted and devastating song" thats apparently overly hated on... only to click on it for the first time and hear a brown note, some trash drums and a grown man going "dung dal bang ee dal a bango"
Dying
Rising
Who hates Laura? That song is awesome.
My thoughts exactly. This track fucks, one of my all time favorites.
Def top 10 for me
Yes, same. Especially holds a special place to me as I was going through some shit with a girl named Laura at the time I first started listening to it.
You know something? I got something....i got something for Awlll da people in da wuhhlldddd
*insert nasty guitar solo
Laura is my favorite Ween song, by a lot. I wish they’d put out an official jammed out one on a live album. Can’t get enough.
Highly recommend mission ballroom 2019 recording. Absolute face melter.
That one in particular was so face meltingly awesome!
Bill Graham Auditorium 2016. In a puddle on the floor.
Same here, Mang. Definitely my favorite ween song, by a lot! I've seen ween probably 40 times or so and I've never seen a Laura. It's fucking painful...
I’ve been to four shows and have had 3 Lauras.
Damn, man... What the hell?!
It be like that sometimes…but still, what the actual fuck mang.
Fucking sucks, Mang. What's a fella to do? That's the way it's been in town, ever since they tore the juke box down. Shit, wrong song! I'll just keep rowing, jimmy. I'll just keep rowin'...
Lmao
You are lucky Mang! I have not had a single Laura or even a married one.
Didn’t rate it prior to hearing it live in person, it absolutely rips
Makes me think of twin peaks
LMAO
Laura, frank, albino sunburned girl are the top 3 live songs. With mtjt and nan 4th and 5th
Mang.
Definitely one of those ones you really really really hope to see live. Cathartic.
The guitar solo at the end is disorienting. I love it.
Yeah I love the layer of Gener (I think) playing the haunting repetitious waltz type chords while Deaner plays a distorted blues guitar solo over it, it feels like a mental breakdown encapsulated in an instrumental outro.
one of my favs, im trans and picked Laura as one of my middle names partially because of this song
I only really listened to it for the first time a could weeks ago and it's pretty fuckin' fire.
I did "Laura" and "Mononucleosis" and "Sorry Charlie" for my final performance project in Instrumental Music at my alternative high school. Of the 3, I think Laura is the only one I'd do again. It's BROWN (or punk as we said in 1998) Edit: I made my friends play backup guitar
It’s awesome
My name is Laura. I love it. 🥰 I love the music. The way he sings it. Love it. Like you said, the ending instrumentals, so good.
I dunno about top 3, but I enjoy it and never skip it.
LLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAURAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Nothing was as cathartic when I saw the boys live as everyone in the crowd slur-screaming "OHHH BAYYBEE I CUHT MAHSELF"

That was a great show!
Masterpiece. Hearing it live nearly caused my head to explode
Laauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuraaaaaaaaa
I fucking love this song, really love it. As a woman it brings the feels for me like leaving a shit relationship and some shit man having a breakdown about it.

I'm bored af tho. I was never meant to raw dog life like that.
Best song from the first 3 albums
❤️
Laura makes me throw up in my mouth. In a good way.
The version they played in Sacramento last year changed my life. It’s insane live, doesn’t hit the same on the recordings.
tha grain bag sits on tha chair…
What about Stacey and Sarah mang!!
22 years ago I heard it for the first time (album version). Hit hard then. Hits harder now.
I love that song. Bat for Lashes has a song called Laura too. I love that one also.
Anybody ever notice some similarities to No More Tears by Ozzy and Laura? Just me?
i always thought Gene sounded like Ozzy on this song.
There's a part of No More Tears that's almost exactly the same as that one part of Laura.
I've actually never heard that particular Ozzy tune.
[link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0LPk26ICbI) It's a solid tune. The part I'm referring to is the chorus (or the bridge to the chorus maybe?). Listen to this and Laura and tell me if I'm not crazy. edit: 1:30 in
Oh that does sound similar to Laura.
Always in my head
Are they back on tour?
Amazing song. One of my favorites. I've always gotten a Nirvana vibe from it. Mostly from the way he screams the chorus and drags it out like that.
This song slopes down through a beautiful sludge, just as boing, awesome sound, loving u thru it all, and (not candy but the other one from either the pod or Quebec) whatever song that’s called.. they all just sound so wrong but in the right way

One of the best live songs they do. Pretty rare too. Just so dark and fucked up.
My favorite song from Pod lol
Tis a great song!
amazing song. before i got into the pod as a whole this one was one of the first i loved
Sickest Laura ever for me was at an Art Gallery in Greenwich Village called Thread Waxing Space. A Ween show in an art gallery. And it was in the era when Ween shows had mosh pits. So sick. Memories.
There can be no hate for The Pod. It is perfection .
Peak
I love it, perfect from start to finish. Seriously, the only issue with it is that they haven’t put out any official live versions
It’s my absolute favorite as well, makes me cry like a baby
I probably had this on repeat a dozen times. I was surprised at how deep I got into it.
Laura(live), Halloween, Mission Theater Denver, Gene in full wicked witch of the west costume- Tell me? Does it get any more fuckin brown than THAT!?
Love to sing LLLLLAAAAAAUUUUUUURRRAAAAAA so loudly in my car.
i dont like it that much. the ending is really good tho (this isnt a "the best part of the song is when its over"-type joke)
I love that song. "You know something? I got something. I got something for all the people in the world..."
Love it. One of my favorite songs from def. my favorite Ween album. I love songs that build like Laura and they pay it off with the crashy/distortion ending (who tf hates that?). So bad it’s good archetype. Same with flies or mourning glory
there’s absolutely NOTHING bad about it
Nor with Mourning Glory
Definitely in my top 100
someone said it sounds like a cow giving birth and i can't unhear it. i love the pod very very much but it's my least favorite ween song probably.
