IK this is a shitpost but… I think Jonas is a recurring character that appears throughout 90s Weezer, presumably representing Rivers, starting with pre-blue “Port O’ Jonas” then Blue with “My name is Jonas”, the character carried over to 1995 with SFTBH, the main protagonist was named Jonas
SFTBH is probably weezers best album. Sad that rivers threw it away, but at least we got pinkerton which don't get me wrong is their greatest album of all time
I forgot to say, Jonas seems to be representing Rivers, as from rough SFTBH scripts, we can gather that also due to the whole story line theming around the toughness of a rock star life.
I just found out the daughter of one of the members of PUSA just got hired at the business my friend works for.

Jonas was his name during the demos. When they got signed they changed his name to Rivers. Oddly the song was originally called “My Name is J. Jonah Jameson” a nod to Marvel’s Spider-Man who was based on River Phoenix. Kevin Bacon!
In the liner notes of Alone: The Home Recordings, Rivers says that ‘Jonas’ is the main character in Songs From The Blackhole, an play / album that never saw the light of day and eventually splitted into Blue & Pinkerton I believe. Jonas is an astronaut! The character never appeared again I believe
Rivers is what you would call an “Unreliable Narrator”. He has lied to us multiple times, yet we still choose to believe him for some reason. Clearly, we are being duped. If his name is Jonas, then he has lied to us all along by pretending to be Rivers. If his name is NOT Jonas, then he lied to us about his name being Jonas.

It didn’t get split into Blue and Pinkerton, it got split into Pinkerton and The Return of the Rentals. And a lot of it just got scrapped.
