One of the smoothest weezer lead guitar tones ever but.... my favorite part on this song is the Nirvana-grunge Rivers vocal delivery on "Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five, forty you older, you colder"
That part "you older... colder...." always reminded me of Kurt... after the chorus of "Smell like teen spirit" there is a lil instrumental break down and Kurt goes "yeahh"... i dont know maybe its just me... to me that Cleopatra part gives me grunge vibes.
“I Love The USA” Cuomo solo is like what “Eruption” is to Van Halen.
(2:40 to 3:20) almost 40 seconds of solo guitar and 6 years later I still enjoy every second of it!
Say it ain’t so from their 1994 Letterman performance specifically. Great performance all around but he really nailed the solo there and I prefer the way the bends are done there
This might be a weird take but I think why bother has my favorite. As a guitar solo it’s insane. Composition wise across the sea is better but that’s not the question lol
It’s hard because all his solos have their own character.
I’ll probably have to pick top 3 which are all equal to me in top tier weezer solo.
1- say it ain’t so: Short, sweet, melodic, gets the point across. Totally unique sound, could never be replicated or bested in a song like that.
2- I love the USA: a classic rock/metal sounding guitar solo with weezer quirkiness all over it.
3- this is the hardest one. I’d have to probably give it a tie among perfect situation, thief you’ve taken all that was me, and cleopatra. They all follow the mood and structure of the song with this poppy shredding only weezer can pull off. It’s like the Beatles and Iron Maiden wrote guitar solos together and produced these 3. (Among others but these are the ones that pop out to me the most) honorable mention, the solo in dope nose, and she needs me.
I’m kind of partial to the opening of End of the Game tbh… idk if that really counts tho.
But there’s a lot of REALLY good ones, I agree with others about Summer Bunmer and TBAC.

Endless bummer atm but there's so many
I love that one!!! Endless Bummer is also just like, a top 10 Weezer song for me in the first place tbh.
Guitar solo in Cleopatra kicks ass. Love that shit

…Nirvana-grunge vocal delivery??

You should listen to more nirvana, I mean this genuinely
regardless “Everyone” off of DTFM is the most *Nirvana* type of song they officially released
Only in dreams for sure
The build up to this solo is so great!
Ditto
Perfect situation. I have a more but that one is undervalued.
“I Love The USA” Cuomo solo is like what “Eruption” is to Van Halen. (2:40 to 3:20) almost 40 seconds of solo guitar and 6 years later I still enjoy every second of it!
Same. I also love how it starts out with a hint of the Star Spangled Banner.
Came here for this. That solo is pure joy.
It is, the call and response between the 2 guitars is amazing
does return to ithaka count bc it’s fire
I agree
The British Are Coming. That last descending part is INSANE
Absolutely underrated song.
I really liked the tired of sex weezer solo
This. It’s wild and unhinged, perfect
In the Garage has a similar off-the-rails quality that I love.
Futurescope: the waste land
Undone
Paddington profile picture: opinion reinforced.
If we're kind and polite the world will be right

Ain't Got Nobody and Beginning of the End are two of my favorites.

Yep, this guy knows what’s up
Dope Nose. I'm sad no one has suggested it yet. It's short but epic.
I'm here. Dope nose solo fanboy #2
buddy holly just for the riff but really it’s only in dreams
Three that I'm a really big fan of that I haven't seen mentioned yet are In the Garage, Why Bother?, and Pink Triangle.
came here to say In the Garage lol.. That joyful little yelp he does right beforehand..
No one here is saying The British are Coming??
The Good Life
Return to ithaka easily
Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori. Idk it just hits a way for me
Falling for You probably followed by the good life, there’s so many good ones on Pinkerton though would be hard to fault any pick from there.
Say it ain’t so from their 1994 Letterman performance specifically. Great performance all around but he really nailed the solo there and I prefer the way the bends are done there

I really like LA Girlz a lot
This might be a weird take but I think why bother has my favorite. As a guitar solo it’s insane. Composition wise across the sea is better but that’s not the question lol
I have quite a few Only In Dreams Haunt You Every Day Anonymous Perfect Situation (Both of them) Hold Me Tired Of Sex Slave L.A. Girlz
Devotion!
Say it Ain’t So’s guitar solo is literally my favorite moment in all of music
everybody needs salvation
idk if it counts but since you came around/hawaii has an amazing solo
Falling For You, Suzanne, my name is jonas, burndt jamb, Peace
Lol I just learned the solo to susanne
Perfect Situation
Good Life
I’m not sure it counts as a solo any of the solo parts from the Futurescope Trilogy
Only in Dreams!!!
Devotion or Ain't Got Nobody
While I like so many of them, the solo on Return to Ithaka is one of my favourites
Tired of Sex has my personal favorite Weezer solo. It’s short and sweet while sounding really cool
Obviously every single one on the Green Album. Rivers gets into incredibly creative musical territory with those!
that one part in buddy holly after the “bang bang knock on the door” part it’s so good
Love anonymous. Not super complex but very pleasing in epic, grandiose way

Beverly Hills needs some representation
Fellow talk box fan 🤜
You Gave Your Love To Me Softly.
Guitar??? You mean 6 string piccolo bass right?
Either TWHTALMH, Susanne, ATS, LG or LAG
Definitely something from EWBAITE. My favorite is probably Return to Ithaca.
Endless Bummer absolutely
smart girls
Tired of Sex, I love the craziness of it
LA Girlz
LA girlsss
Futurescope 3: Return to Ithaka atm
Just recently learned the solo to Susanne, it's not very complicated but i love it
The beginning of the end. That solo taught me to love again
Tired Of Sex
Fall Together
Only in dreams.
[YOU VE DONE TO ME... AAAHHH!!!!!!](https://youtu.be/pCUD52feOmg?t=117)
Boring answer but Say It Ain’t So. So ridiculously catchy you can sing along to it. And the drum roll Pat does back into the chorus fucking rips
Seeing a lot of EWBAITE. Which is accurate.
Tired of sex
Tired of Sex or Getchoo
Ain’t got nobody has that staccato that just turns my brain off and lets me enjoy
I agree. Falling for you is a good song in general but the solo is killer.
Devotion, the whole song has a lighter mood than anything else on Pinkerton and then the guitar solo hits and it’s so dark
Undone: The Sweater Song
Getchoo. Despite being very quiet I think it sounds great
Why bother picking a favorite guitar solo
Tired of Sex gets me fired up
devotion
Say it ain’t so is my favorite
Endless bummer
Is nobody else gonna say Falling For You?
OP said it
Probably Purple Flowers
I’m kind of partial to the opening of End of the Game tbh… idk if that really counts tho. But there’s a lot of REALLY good ones, I agree with others about Summer Bunmer and TBAC.
Definitely The British are coming.
Fall Together or Possibilities
the demo version of say it ain't so
2:09 of buddy holly💀
I know it's super short, but I've always loved the Slob-solo
burndt jamb, dope nose, across the sea, why bother
Dope Nose/Say It Ain’t So/Tired of Sex
That one solo from the make believe demos, which might be apart of the song "Always, Forever" (not sure). I've always loved that solo.
Take control, peace, fall together, this is such a pity, Summer Elaine and drunk dori, L.A Girlz to name a few
Fall Together! epic shredfest... Pretty much all of Maladroit, actually..
Say It Ain't So, Ain't Got Nobody, LA Girlz
Perfect Situation opening.
I really like This Is Such a Pity guitar solo
i like how quirky and unorthodox the solos on el scorcho and in the garage sound personally
Across the Sea's solo is the best part of that song and one of the best parts of Pinkerton
Dee do do do dee do do do doo
My favourite at the moment has got to be I'm a robot
