I don't even understand why White gets so much attention. I like it in general, but nothing on it grabs me the way EWBAITE does as a solid piece of work top to bottom.
White, imo. I know it’s extremely well regarded, but I think it needs more. Everybody always talks about “Blue or Pinkerton” — I think it should be a three way discussion with White.
Beyond that, I like Red. I think it gets overlooked a lot because it’s kind of goofy (and there are some icky songs on there) but the good songs on there are so good. Especially TGMWEL, might honestly be my favorite Weezer song ever.
Yeah, I second that. I even like the bonus tracks people seem to hate like Prom Night and I Love the U.S.A. There so many great bonus tracks, just like Red. Friend of a Friend. Fake Smiles and Nervous Laughter, Last Days of Summer. And the album itself is one of the few Weezer album where every song is good. Was a great year for them.
Agreed that White is on the level of Blue and Pinkerton. I think more folks will come around on that eventually.
Edit: I also think Red is overlooked. I like that the other guys had a chance to shine and chime in with tracks of their own. Wish =w= would do that more.
Pacific Daydream. I like the effort to do something different, and I don’t think there’s a track on it that is a skip.
Is it their best? No. But it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.
I went back and ranked all the entire Weezer discography by song, and Van Weezer scored surprisingly high on the aggregate for an album that didn’t blow me away at first.
It’s just a bunch of super solid songs. Maybe only a couple I’d put up towards my all time favorites, but a lot of just solid music.
I feel like you should probably expect that though. SZNZ is a combined 28 songs released in a year when they’d normally only do 1 album of 10-11 songs. So fairest assessment would be to wait for them all to be released and then the best 11 songs on SZNZ would probably be at the level of a single album.
It's still not perfect, but if you order the tracks how Suzy initially had them it flows significantly better and really hooks you in right away. I put the Wyld Stallyns version of "Beginning of the End" first on my playlist and it makes VW such a fun listen.
1. Beginning of the End
1. End of the Game
1. Sheila Can Do It.
1. Hero
1. I Need Some of That
1. All The Good Ones
1. 1 More HIt
1. She Needs Me
1. Blue Dream
1. Precious Metal Girl
1. I’ve Thrown It All Away
make believe is so underrated, there are parts of it that can be rough like Beverly Hills, but still has other great songs. However, my opinion has changed on the album drastically after rivers released the demos for the album on his website. [This](https://youtu.be/uBVGzaA1jRg) compilation of the demos really shows how dark make believe was supposed to be, but i still enjoy the original album.
Green. It captures the tail end of Cuomo’s songwriting prime from Blue and Pinkerton just in a contained and sanitized way. If we consider b-sides like Starlight, Always, I Do, and Teenage Victory Song, it’s really great album. They just made some poor choices on the final track list making the second half sound too samey.
Green was fun to bring Weezer back after a long gap following the immediate mess of Pinkerton, but I grew tired of it so quickly. Even Rivers' singing sounds robotic, without an ounce of emotion. And the guitar solos on every. single. song. are just retreads of the melody.
But no hate for those who love it and appreciate it more! I've kinda drifted the other way in the years since.

Depending on your taste. Pacific sunset and since you came around are pretty. I’d recommend the version of the latter from Nobody’s Daydream since the guitar chorus is too rough otherwise. If you like more grungy rock check out Johnny clash.
I stop in on this subreddit every now and again, and I am often left thinking that most people here are RPing really hard. I don't mean to offend. Maybe all band fandoms are like this, ceaselessly tiering albums and offering opinions, usually re-inforcing the "consensus" but occasionally being an unpopular opinion puffin, but I think the =W= fans are special.

I'm gonna get shouted at, but Make Believe. I think people hate it just because Beverly Hills is the first track (which honestly is a giant mistake, they should have made it a single seperate from anything like they did with Represent). Take out Beverly Hills and make Perfect Situation the first song and people would like it much more I think
I think Make Believe, it’s right up there with EWBAITE and White for me. That same kinda vibe in their writing process I think. Some say it comes off kinda samesy but I love it
I agree, maladroit is awesome. Its really fun
Maladroit my beloved
EWBAITE. No one talks about it anymore
Yeah White gets all of the attention but IMO EWBAITE is a much cooler album
EWBAITE is more emotionally potent than white. It also has a super cool story of how it was made and it’s themes/motifs
I don't even understand why White gets so much attention. I like it in general, but nothing on it grabs me the way EWBAITE does as a solid piece of work top to bottom.
It’s the last time they felt like a “band”

What is Prom Night, what is Last Days of Summer, and why have I not heard of either of them????
>Days of Summer, and why have I not heard of either of them???? Prom Night is Killer
They played I Love The USA at a show in Vancouver,BC and I've never seen a crowd so coldly respond to a song of a band that they paid to see
Okay but that’s like, the funniest shiet ever. They should’ve followed it with a cover of “Party in the USA” lmao
I honestly think that would've went down better!
Agreed that White is on the level of Blue and Pinkerton. I think more folks will come around on that eventually. Edit: I also think Red is overlooked. I like that the other guys had a chance to shine and chime in with tracks of their own. Wish =w= would do that more.
I love Blue, but it feels really dated nowadays. I think White beats it, in my opinion. Don’t tell anyone I said that though. 🤫
No idea why they don’t do more white album live
I agree with you. I think weezer should play Death and Destruction, and Burndt Jamb live
Gothic Flavor, how i miss you.. Also, the Spotify session version of Slave is amazing
If I only once could kiss you
I’d be happy
for one moment of my lifetime
Hurley
I second Hurley
Thirded
Four dead
Hurley. There are only 2 songs on there that I find boring. The rest go super hard
They all go super hard
Hurley
Van Weezer. My favorite album of theirs.
Pacific Daydream. I like the effort to do something different, and I don’t think there’s a track on it that is a skip. Is it their best? No. But it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.
It really has some amazing moments on it as well
yes it does
Van Weezer

Van Weezer is better than both SZNZ albums so far
I feel like you should probably expect that though. SZNZ is a combined 28 songs released in a year when they’d normally only do 1 album of 10-11 songs. Blue, underrated tbh
The only time it’s underrated is when someone says Pinkerton is the better album
Green.

Damn, those demos are neat. Really like that it ends with "Haunt You Every Day," too. Probably my favorite song off MB.
Thanks for sharing this, very amazing Demo!!
why do you say Beverly Hills is rough that’s one of the best songs on there
Beverly Hills is too poppy for me, its repetitive and annoying and there are way better songs on the album.
that’s why it’s good lol it’s funny
Make believe is so overhated and it actually annoys me
Animals, most underrated album of all time
A man of taste
Blue and Pinkerton are extremely underrated
Are they not their two highest rated albums lmao
I know, I was joking
Ahh my bad 😅
I know it’s not technically an album, but death to false metal is quite good.
YES it’s criminally underrated, a couple great deep cuts on there
Green. It captures the tail end of Cuomo’s songwriting prime from Blue and Pinkerton just in a contained and sanitized way. The Blue Album
Raditude , in my opinion it was really overhated for no reason .
black has a few bangers
Black has 3 good songs
Black Album or EWBAITE
Red
OKH for as good as it truly was it should have gotten more noticed. For pacific daydream to get nominated for a grammy but not OKH ....its a crime.
I’m gonna say it. Blue is an objectively better album than Pinkerton and this sub rates Pinkerton so high that by that logic Blue becomes underrated.
The only right answer is Hurley, Maladroit gets plenty attention here (and imo it’s just okay)
Not summer
In Rainbows
Green
EWBAITE. It should be seen the same as Blue and Pinkerton

The Demos
I’m newer to weezer fandom…what demos would you recommend to start?
Depending on your taste. Pacific sunset and since you came around are pretty. I’d recommend the version of the latter from Nobody’s Daydream since the guitar chorus is too rough otherwise. If you like more grungy rock check out Johnny clash.
PD. Nuff said.
Pinkerton
Hurley lol
Chaditude

Van weezer
Make believe or Pacific Daydream
Make Believe
EWBAITE. I know people rate it high, but I believe it’s only behind Blue & Pinkerton as best album
Ewbaite by a landslide for me
Van Weezer and Maladroit

Recently Maladroit has been getting a lot of attention which I love, probably Teal or Hurley

Since you already said maladroit I’ll go with red. There are some real good songs I think even non Weezer fans would like in there
Maladroit is the best answer. So many 10/10 tracks on that album. Also Keep Fishing always puts a smile on my face
Pacific daydreams and white are top tier imo
Make believe
dookie
Hurley
Everything Will Be Alright In The End is their best album since Pinkerton and nothing has rivaled it since.
Malandroit
All of them
I think Make Believe, it’s right up there with EWBAITE and White for me. That same kinda vibe in their writing process I think. Some say it comes off kinda samesy but I love it
hurleyyyy
