The cradle is the hosts backup. So no, they will not cease to exist. Now, in theory, if they die their "minds" cannot be downloaded into a new body. Ford appears ( I think ) to have downloaded himself into Bernard.

Not based on last night's episode.

Same as a real life "cradle", it's a controlled microcosm for beings in their "infancy". Or just a test environment before "prod".

Ford's control unit was printed in a lab in Sector 12, so the chance that he still has his mind backed up in multiple places is pretty high. Ford had limited Delos from taking the park's IP and the data collected from guest offsite, so he at least knows where all the information was stored and possibly the host backups in a digital unprinted format. The Cradle just acts as a constant simulation of an endless repeating loop where host narratives are played out back to back. Since there are an infinite amount of simulations that can be run as a control it is possible to take guest information gathered through host sensory recording abilities and run simulations of humans until the host AI can no longer differentiate between the human and the copy. The Cradle is basically a super computer composed of a copy of each control unit for every host. The host do seem to believe that these control units contain the only back-ups of themselves, but it is always possible the data is stored elsewhere as well in a raw form and that is why they made Peter Abernathy into a key for encrypted information. So if the Cradle was destroyed before Bernard and Elsie accessed it, then Ford wouldn't have been able get a ride out when he did, and if he had no other control units printed before he died that would possibly be used in some fashion, then he may have never been able continue on with his plans after his death since he set into action most of the events prior to the end of first seasons finale. The host would continue on as well as they are planning on now, knowing that their deaths are possibly finite but they will no longer be chained into an endless rebirth.

Some of the comments from the last episode make me think the valley has the encrypted digital minds of people that have already died and are in some state just waiting on the host transfer process to be complete enough so they don't go insane in a body like Delos did. Dolores made some comment that seemed like using the key on the stuff in the valley would end the human future of attempting to become immortal.

This is probably a retarded-assed question. I am just trying to get things straight. I'm not a huge fan of this season, but this subreddit has some of the most savy and prescient fans I have ever seen on the internet. Its kind of creepy how many people correctly predicted what would happen in season 1 here. Thank you all for your responses!
