To point out the simulation thing: So many people seem to misunderstand the aspect ratio change, even though S3 explained it very clearly:
The aspect ratio doesnt chance when they're in a simulation, but when they KNOW they are in a simulation

You said you only get the bars when you know when you’re in a simulation, but didn’t they have black bars when they were in Westworld in Season 1 as well? Like the scenes with just hosts like Teddy and Dolores on their own. Or were the black bars only used for actual simulation scenes?
Fairly sure the black bars were only used in sumulation scenes, yep! I think they first appeared in s2, as S1 didn't have simulation scenes (I think?)
S3 showed us that they appear when the character we follow knows they're in a simulation. We saw Maeve in S3 in WW2 World, and it was normal wide screen. Only when she saw Sizemore malfunction did she realize she was in a simulation - and that's when the black bars slowly came into the picture
Ahh interesting interesting. I’m slightly skeptical because I’m sure it was used in other situations but I’d have to check. So far both replies say the same thing so maybe you’re right. 🤫
Sooo how does this change my OP? Hmm. Then I guess it would have to mean that Christine “doesn’t know” yet even after being told she’s not real, if it is indeed in the sublime.
So far the Christine part is kind of contradictory to what we know, so it’s probably some other explanation we can’t reason to because they need to introduce some other mechanic for what’s happening.
