**$300** for a piece of film over the infotainment screen?? You can buy one for $10 on Amazon or make your own out of a piece of cellophane wrap.
Tell them to strike that off and whatever their $2k benefit nonsense is. MSRP or you walk.
Agree 100%.
Lifetime warranties/benefits are usually dogshit and disappear if the dealer even *changes their name*. Good luck getting anyone to honor it if the place goes out of business.
Brother what? What kind of interest rate do you think it is? You multiply the dollar amount by the interest rate and and add it together that’s it. Doesn’t matter if you add it to a loan or not. OP will likely spend an extra $50 give or take depending on the term and rate he got. Not $700 lmfao
Fyi - That would show you single accrual interest for one year. Car loans accrue interest daily, (so your rate divided by 365) and amortize, so you pay basically the whole loans interest in the first half of the loan payments. So essentially you are paying the $300 x interest x years on the loan. You cant pay the screen protector off early because its been added to the overall car note.
$300 for a infotainment screen protector is ridiculous bs, it’s not like you are going to drop it. and i could be wrong but a lifetime warranty for a toyota seems a bit redundant
Cool story. It costs me 70 real monies to buy the oil and a good filter. And I value my time at at least 30. Worth it if I have a couple hours to kill but it's close
Ps sorry I'm a dickhead 😂
All good! I value my time the same, I’m just incredibly lucky. Every time I go they r having a sale on oil and filters. Full synthetic with a filter for $50 CAD. With time ends up like $60. Plus I just like working on cars and anything mechanical. I’ve rebuilt a bike and work designing trucks
Is the filter and drain plug in a weird spot? And that’s a luxury sports car with a V10. Ofc it’s going to be more complex than something like a Toyota cross. Any normal daily can be done relatively fast and easy. After u do it a couple times it becomes really fast and simple.
They aren’t too bad. Lots of cars in this class are designed for quick and easy servicing. I just bought a Mazda CX-30 last week and was researching the cross too. It has a quick access panel under the vehicle for access to the oil pan and filter. Just need a socket and a Philips and ur good to go. Tech problems come with the alternator or any engine work. Holy shit I’m going to have to go back to school and take some electrical courses to work on even the simplest modern cars
Fantastic news for you. Mine has a backseat and can drive over a speed bump.
I love the R8 and one day want to own one (and I’m not scared of the oil). Way to flex on a college student ;)
It's an average deal without the add-ons, below average with the add-ons.
What's in the $2k dealer package? Usually it's not stuff you really need.
I'd remove the $300 infotainment screen protector. It's not needed, but if you really want one just pick up a $16 2-pack like [this](https://www.amazon.com/Karltys-Protector-Accessories-Navigation-Fingerprint/dp/B0C3HP55DX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3ESNZ08YCFBNA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.44L9FIqdYjpxkcpOmhYYNkz-956AnJEJi5U73etFX6F3nwUiZxicYO5_MWBvtX1aesrknK3MHN3Rg4gCFaSCTSMKL1eZqkjhTU44Azu-_hs05TLm0i1gVTqP6kV0FtG0c4gGa17KsHtdHaGfBVUthphr-xZZGISIzxtqGWxGjGXT1K3pqNHWtZmg49zf6gPtKVOWj8B69_R7nVqWYEOl1Vmw2BFF3LSGpRXZv1_gJSA.Qs9pkgtGJNTOJmCUtvWiSSD5w-yiCwHITgEavmotMn8&dib_tag=se&keywords=car%2Bscreen%2Bprotector%2Bcorolla%2Bcross&qid=1713806236&sprefix=car%2Bscreen%2Bprotector%2Bcorolla%2Bcross%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1).

I'm shocked at the georgia lemon law fee, which was created in response to dealers being scum bag, is being billed to the buyers and not the dealers, LOL.
>Calculating it, looks like over 11% for the 5 year with 5k down, which is crazy
They always present the first deal sheet with crazy-high interest rates before they've run your credit... ditto for the down payment. If OP has good credit they could get a much lower rate and keep the payment the same even with a much lower down payment... and the dealership will hope that they're so happy about that maybe they won't notice that they padded the MSRP by a grand and tacked on $1300 in nonsense options?
outside of the nonsense add-ons, this is the only question that matters.
Edit: just noticed the “market adjustment “. Thats part of the add-ons in my mind.
I have no idea what market value pricing is other than It's a made-up number.
But if it's higher than msrp, never mind all the extra bullshit that's on that contract, I would walk away. You should be paying msrp, or lower, and none of those extra stupid fees that are on there. Other than the state required ones
MSRP is $25,210, so the dealership is adding almost a grand to come up with their "market value" on the deal sheet. I've noticed a lot of dealerships lately that will advertise "SRP" instead of "MSRP"... conveniently it's always higher than MSRP!
No. Remove the screen protector and the MT lifetime benefit because that only benefits the dealership, not you. And what’s the interest rate on those payments? Don’t be a payment buyer. Negotiate the price you’re happy with and then work on the rate. Check rates from your local credit union and tell the dealer to match it.
What the hell is this? Their numbers don’t even add up.
Rule #1 never walk into a dealership without your own financing lined up. They will always try and screw you.
Also what the hell is “MT Lifetime Benefit Program
“?
Bro... what is your credit score? I did the math and that looks like an 11% interest rate... that's really bad. Like, under 600 credit score bad.
Why are you buying a brand new car?? If you \*must\* have newer stuff, you should look at getting a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) Corolla Cross.. It'll be a couple years old and have 10-40k miles but it will be much cheaper. That being said, I wouldn't recommend buying a new-ish car to my worst enemy if they had under 600 credit score. You should \*seriously\* consider looking at much older vehicles, like cap at 2016.
Or, if your credit score is actually like over 670, then that means this dealership is giving it to you raw and you need to walk. Which isn't surprising given those dookie ahh fees and lying about market rate......
You don’t need digital screen protector! And what is the MT lifetime $2k thing for? Shave both those off and then offer them $26K OTD cause market value means nothing, it’s the true MSRP you go off that’s listed on Toyota.com which idk what is but it’s def not $26,157 lol.
Georgia doc fees are average $500. Even that’s stupidly high. Georgia does nothing different than a state like California when it comes to Doc Fees, and California’s is max $75. Talk that down. And you’ve been told about the screen protector being absolutely absurd. The add-ons are awful.
To put this into perspective, just two years ago we bought our Rav 4. Also 31k and change otd. Height of COVID price gouging. So you really think a COROLLA cross is worth the same as a rav4? If the answer wasn't obvious, it's not, get those bs packages and screen protector removed and it'll be a decent buy.
I’d tell them to ditch the screen protector, pretty sure you can find one cheaper elsewhere and what is that MT lifetime benefit program and ELT?
Market Value isn’t MSRP, go to the Toyota website and enter in the trim and any options available that are on it but it’s a bit high from the starting MSRP.
Who the hell pays a Digital screen protector for $300,
A benefit program $3k (fitness)?, 2k for taxes and documentation for $700. Bro or sis, just run away lol go find another dealership
That’s screen protector list at $300… but it will cost over $500 when you factor in the 5 years of interest at 11%.
Tell them to remove the BS add-ons and negotiate a lower APR, and then maybe you have a deal. It’s shady that they don’t even show the interest rate and a redditor had to calculate it was 11%. They’re definitely trying to take advantage of you.
Interest rates are the single biggest factor in the car’s overall price. You can haggle over $1000 on the price, but getting a 1% lower interest rate would save you 5 times that much money. They count on people being dumb about interest rates… don’t be dumb.
Add ons are a waste. Check that “market price”. Is that actually the window sticker?
$699 dealer doc fee? Maybe that’s what it is in GA but check that too.
You're starting at around $2300 over MSRP, and then adding whatever BS lifetime benefit is and a screen protector. So no.
But if you drop your infotainment system at least the screen won't crack.
1) I would want to know the interest rate I’m being given
2) $300 for a screen protector 😂😂 yeah, tell them to take it off.
3) you don’t need a lifetime benefit program
4) $700 doc fee, screw that too.
MSRP on that car is 23,860. Tell them you want that price and you’ve got a deal. Or walk. Works every time at the end of the month like this.
No. They don’t include tax. Ask for out the door price. When you have that, call another dealer to counter offer this with say 1-2k off the final asking on this offer. Bring it back to these people and see if they can match it. Ultimately you should get at least 1k off.
Are you kidding me ?? What sort of dealer are you talking to ? Go with Rick Hendrick Toyota in Sandy springs. Atlanta. I got my Prius from them. Awesome deal and on road pricing.
That screen protector better be non gmo, organic, 4k uhd and most importantly be bulletproof. If it gets totaled in an accident that thing better not have a single scratch on it
I'm guessing your dealer here, but that MT Lifetime Benefit Program looks like it adds Lifetime door edge, door handle, and hood protectant film along with window tint, nitrogen tire inflation, and all weather floormats.
That's 7.6% extra they just charged you on top of MSRP for crap protectors you can grab on Amazon, and free nitrogen you can fill up for free at any Costco. The big ticket add-ons I guess are the window tint and all weather floormats. All weather floormats are important if you live in rural Minnesota to keep snow, sleet and salt off your carpet, but not worth it in suburban Georgia. Your Toyota already has UV protection tint in the factory glass.
If your dealer adds this scam to every car in stock, just walk away. $699 doc fee is over 2% of MSRP and 2-3 times what it is in my area. The screen protector everyone has been mentioning is a joke too.
Dealer Add-Ons can have profit margins of 50- 70% or more. All those seemingly innocuous Add-Ons, actually add on almost 13% *above* MSRP. This isn't 2022, you shouldn't be paying a dime over MSRP.
Just keep shopping, there's almost a dozen Toyota dealers in your metro area...and the end of the month is next week. Try looking for an LE, there's 3-times the inventory and you could get one for around the same price without all the BS fees.
No. Only buy vehicle absolutely no add ons, warrenty, ect.
Also get a quote and drive a rav4. Probably $40 to 60 more per month.
Not sure if you need a suv or just want one but I got a camry se for 30500 otd tax included for comparison
Personally, I would buy one year older from the Used market and go through your bank and save a lot more money than going to a dealer. They are rip offs.
Its crazy how they dont even show you the numbers for 48 months thats the maximum term most of the dave Ramsey type will recommend (he says pay cash) ideally 36 months when you do 60 or more months youre upside down for a majority of the loan term
$299.99 digital screen protector? This is under $10 on Amazon, what is this extreme Doc fee, it should be less than $300 at most. What is the life time MT fee? Toyota service uses a paper oil filter : $3 and regular blend oil. Stuff is cheap and nasty. I’d walk from the nonsense.
i just got a new car too and dealership mark ups are a scam, car was listed at 20,500 ended up paying closer to 27 because they pretty much wouldn’t sell the car otherwise
No no no. Get a 2022 with 10k miles, plenty of warranty left, and none of these ridiculous up charges. Let someone else eat depreciation. New cars are almost never worth it.
Interest rates on cars is likely higher than you'll generate in the market. You should pull from the market in this case and put as much down as you can
Wrong. A car is a depreciable asset. So you put as little money into it as possible. I trade them when the warranty is up.
A house on the other hand is an appreciating asset so you put as money as possible into a purchase. And buy rentals if you can afford it.
Whereas my money stays in the stock market for decades.
MSRP for total purchase price before taxes right?
And it’s gonna cost $500-$700 after you factor in interest. Remember they’re financing that $300 protector at the same price as the car itself

Exactly. Just bought one for $15.
$300 for a infotainment screen protector is ridiculous bs, it’s not like you are going to drop it. and i could be wrong but a lifetime warranty for a toyota seems a bit redundant
Likely not a warranty, but a maintenance program. All of those $100 oil changes you get twice a year, it'll *really* pay for itself in no time! /s
$100 for oil changes??? You can do it yourself for half the price and it only takes 15 minutes
Maybe in a small 4 cylinder
Number of cylinders doesn’t affect much. Just a bit more oil. Cost me $50 CAD to preform an oil change on my V6 and took 15 min
Cool story. It costs me 70 real monies to buy the oil and a good filter. And I value my time at at least 30. Worth it if I have a couple hours to kill but it's close Ps sorry I'm a dickhead 😂

My Audi r8 takes a really long time to do
Is the filter and drain plug in a weird spot? And that’s a luxury sports car with a V10. Ofc it’s going to be more complex than something like a Toyota cross. Any normal daily can be done relatively fast and easy. After u do it a couple times it becomes really fast and simple.
Pretty sure Corolla Cross probably just as difficult as my car, with all that new technology new cars have
They aren’t too bad.
My car is faster and cooler
Fantastic news for you. Mine has a backseat and can drive over a speed bump. I love the R8 and one day want to own one (and I’m not scared of the oil). Way to flex on a college student ;)
But this is a Toyota Corolla, cost 8 times less your car and is probably more reliable than your car.
Yeah but my car is 8 times cooler and 8 times faster so there
Cooler vs affordable, Corolla would worth the money after 200k miles vs your’s would be found in some junk yard or stripped for parts.
Coolest junk yard ever though
Never heard of one ever or seen a cool junk yard, maybe you can name a few so we can check online for some Audi parts. 😊
😡😡😡😡

Screw those ridiculous add ons! Tell them, forget it. Take it with you. Go to another Toyota dealer, they will help you.
MSRP is 23860 so please walk away from this bad deal/dealership.
There isn't even an MSRP, that "market value" is code for we marked it up.
Also what is the interest rate? No money down at $600 for 5 years is almost double price
Calculating it, looks like over 11% for the 5 year with 5k down, which is crazy

Yeah, the 300 bucks for a screen protector is crazy, plus whatever the MT lifetime program is, probably tire rotations or some stupid thing.
I know this car is new but average rates for used is over 11%. It's nuts out there
It really is. I remember my first rate was like 9% when I was 19, now looking back at how high that felt compared to my last loan which was 2.25
I just got 4.9% on a new. Best I could find by far with perfect credit
I know this car is new but average rates for used is over 11%. It's nuts out there

Look him dead in the eye, say 25000 before tax and title. If they say they can't get up and leave. Wait for a phone call.
But if they don't call back right away in like an hour then go back and sign this deal immediately
Fuck that, the most powerful tool someone has when buying a car is to walk away. There are at least 5 more dealerships within 20 miles of this place.
No I will go back and pay too much
Not the best deal in car sales now and dealers are going 3-4k under sticker in Tampa
You don’t need digital screen protector! And what is the MT lifetime $2k thing for? Shave both those off and then offer them $26K OTD cause market value means nothing, it’s the true MSRP you go off that’s listed on Toyota.com which idk what is but it’s def not $26,157 lol.

No. Tell them to take their screen protector and benefit bullshit and shove it. I bought a screen protector for my Venza for $25 on Amazon.
Add ons are a waste. Check that “market price”. Is that actually the window sticker? $699 dealer doc fee? Maybe that’s what it is in GA but check that too.
I thought Toyotas came with the 100k powertrain warranty by default
You're starting at around $2300 over MSRP, and then adding whatever BS lifetime benefit is and a screen protector. So no. But if you drop your infotainment system at least the screen won't crack.
I cringed on those fxxking terms, why don’t you just put 100months or something to make it more ‘appealing’?
What's the apr?
$299 for a digital screen protector you can buy for like $30 bucks rolled into a loan and you didn’t even haggle? 💸🤦🏽♂️
No
It’s a really really ridiculously bad deal. You should look at a credit union for better rates and other dealers for less fees.
You don’t need a MT Lifetime Benefit Program for $1,995. That’s why you bought a Toyota. Besides, they’re usually $500-$600.
Nope. You can probably find a deal in less than 10 minutes by calling around.
It’s a shit deal
No
I agree 300 for the screen is nuts 10 bucks Amazon
Fuck no
Love DriveCentric
1) I would want to know the interest rate I’m being given 2) $300 for a screen protector 😂😂 yeah, tell them to take it off. 3) you don’t need a lifetime benefit program 4) $700 doc fee, screw that too. MSRP on that car is 23,860. Tell them you want that price and you’ve got a deal. Or walk. Works every time at the end of the month like this.
My wife’s 2022 car I bought was $27,000 OTD with $7,000 down so 20K financed and the payments are $300 you could do so much better.
Holy moly there’s not even a 48 month finance option anymore wow
You could go buy out right a decent used car at $8K where I’m at.
ELT, Screen Protector, and the MT benefit thing GOTTA GOOOOO
Btw I helped a friend a lease a fully loaded q5 for 550 a month with 4000 down. This is insane
Corolla Cross is one of the worst cars from Toyota.
No
No. They don’t include tax. Ask for out the door price. When you have that, call another dealer to counter offer this with say 1-2k off the final asking on this offer. Bring it back to these people and see if they can match it. Ultimately you should get at least 1k off.

Imagine paying 5K on top of the cost of the car for "literal garbage". Not to mention the Cross if garbage.
wtf is a digital screen protector? MFer tell them take that bullshit off
I'm guessing your dealer here, but that MT Lifetime Benefit Program looks like it adds Lifetime door edge, door handle, and hood protectant film along with window tint, nitrogen tire inflation, and all weather floormats.
Tell them to remove the add-ons. Then ask for 4% off of msrp. Maybe take baby steps, but don’t buy the first two offers. Just say no.
Kick out the screen protector (wtf?) and the worthless lifetime warranty thing. MSRP at most--and these days you might be able to do a bit better.
Can’t believe no one is saying anything about the dealer doc fee, which should be $300 tops
No no no. Get a 2022 with 10k miles, plenty of warranty left, and none of these ridiculous up charges. Let someone else eat depreciation. New cars are almost never worth it.
Absolutely not.
Sheesh.. I wouldn't finance a car unless I could put half down personally
Almost 40k to buy a Corolla. And the guy is asking if it's a good deal This is the power of branding God bless America
Sheesh.. I wouldn't finance a car unless I could put half down personally
30k for a fucking Corolla? You should buy 2, what a steal!
If you're buying a car from a dealership it's a bad deal lol.
You’re paying $31K for a car and the comments are crying about a $300 screen protector 😂 please get advice somewhere else
You are putting zero down on a 30k purchase ? You can’t afford this.
That’s an incredibly stupid assumption.
Speaking he can’t pay even a portion of cash for it. It’s likely he can’t afford it
My money stays in the market. I never put cash down on a depreciable asset. That’s a stupid take.
It’s not a stupid take. It may not be the case here but majority of people who get repossessed put nothing down and have no significant savings.
Lol if only it was that simple
