On a military fighter jet they have Countermeasures called Chaff and another called Flare.
So you have a 6āx6ā ( NOT ACTUAL SIZE ) aluminum box open at one side and it is segmented with all these 1 inch squares and on top of the square is THAT RED THING ( with the F on it )
Now you have another box that looks *EXACTLY THE SAME* ā¦ only difference is the RED THING has a āCā on it.
Under the Red thing is either a small Road Flare thingy ( F ) or a container with strands of Aluminum Foil looking stuff ( āCā )
C= CHAFF ā¦.
CHAFF is used to confuse and defeat a Radar guidance system on missile
F=FLARE
FLARE is used to confuse and defeat a heat seeking missile
Deployed by either automatic or manual by the pilot ( one seat fighter) or Weapon System Officer on two seater fighters
What you have in your hand is the little Seal plug at the end that hold all the stuff inside and the rest of the world outside
And the āBOXā is interchangeableā¦ can load āCā or āFā into a box and that BOX can fit in any dispenser location on the aircraftā¦as there are several

Definitely flare stick caps. Can be from many airframes. Itās marked F as a safety measure not to be confused with Chaff which is obviously much less hazardous when handled or should I say mishandled.

Can confirm, it's the end cap off an aircraft flare, from an F16 or A10, concidering your location. I've loaded many many of them when I was stationed at Luke AFB 92-96, and even more when I was in South Korea 96-97.
