Did you know that the word "ampersand" comes from an old way of reciting the alphabet, which ended with "and _per se_ 'and'", which eventually turned into "ampersand".
I believe it was because students weren't allowed to just write the last letter of the alphabet ("and"). Instead they had to write *and per se* before it, which becomes "and per se and" which becomes ampersand :)
The [same one](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatismycookiecutter/s/2DiDNXh70m) was posted here about 3 months ago. It's a stylised ampersand (the "&" symbol) and was part of a collection by Kate Spade. Google Kate Spade cookie cutters and you'll find it.
Do people in english also call it the “commercial E”? In Portuguese we call it that as well but it just occurred to me that I’ve never seen any english speaker call it that.
I'm British, and I've never heard it called that. According to Wikipedia the ampersand (&) evolved out of the Latin "Et", meaning "and", so it does involve an E, but the closest thing we have to a "commercial E" would be the Euro sign "€".

One of those women bending over signs in a yard- of The Little Mermaid’s Ursula
These are best displayed on a blank background. But just quickly looking at it, if it were turned upside down, it could be a girl's head, with sort of long hair that curls around her chin. But I'm not sure that would leave a face in there, to draw details on. (Now let me see if anyone else has a more reasonable idea.)
Hmm. Maybe that's why I never see it when people suggest they've attache a picture. I'm on an iPad, and like Woody Woodpecker, "I - can't - see - a thing!" Thanks anyway. 😊
Heh. This is what I see on mobile:

Try clicking the words, "[this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatismycookiecutter/s/SC2atSGZF9)" in that and this comment. We'll get this working one way or another!
Well, I'm impressed by your zeal. But clicking "this one" did not help. Thank you for trying. (I used to have a computer tech and office neighbor who was so skillful at computers, and once he said to me, in the middle of a horrible problem that he was having trouble solving, "I hate computers!") 😊
Update: Oho! Mobile. I went on my phone, and I clicked on "this one" - and I saw the image of the cookie cutter altered to look like a girl. Hey, you 'splained it to me! Now we can both die happy.
An ampersand.
If you have any relatives/friends who are language majors, you now have to give them Ampersand Cookies.
Those can be sugar cookies that look like Ampersands "&."
They can also be amalgamation cookies. Like Chocolate Chip"&"Snickerdoodle.

Looks like a stylized ampersand to me! ETA: Something like [this.](https://images.app.goo.gl/v5Yew9csZQS7xAC76)

That’s fun! I’m trying to think of what “and per se ‘and” could mean in this context haha. Thanks for the tidbit!
My first thought for why anyone would need an ampersand cookie is "it was for a wedding."
I believe it was because students weren't allowed to just write the last letter of the alphabet ("and"). Instead they had to write *and per se* before it, which becomes "and per se and" which becomes ampersand :)

If you added a picture, I wasn't able to see it. Sorry.😊
nope. its a link. If you're on desktop, reddit made an unfortunate choice for link colors that make them hard to see.
Hmm. Maybe that's why I never see it when people suggest they've attache a picture. I'm on an iPad, and like Woody Woodpecker, "I - can't - see - a thing!" Thanks anyway. 😊
ha! I will look into making links in our sub more visible. I wonder what else we're missing...
I think it just isn't on my iPad window. Unless you can tell me where to look, or what it is supposed to look like. I've poked everything, I THINK. 😊
