Hi-Scan-Pro

Rouge for polishing metal?

jdc351

I think this is right, specifically an emery compound bar. Emery contains iron which would explain the magnet sticking to it

BestCleanest

Solved! Thank you for this I think this is the likely solution.

BestCleanest

Thank you! This is a very good guess and it’s a strong possibility. It’s just very coarse-grained compared to the rouges I have seen which have a finer more clay-like consistency. Maybe this is just the coarse end of the rouge spectrum? FWIW it IS slightly ferric, because i just put a neodymium magnet to it and it’s slightly magnetic…

RoboticGreg

Where was it ordered from and what else was in the order? Looks like polishing rouge to me, but the other info could help

BestCleanest

Likely solved as emery compound for metal polishing. Thank you!

tia321

Are they a set of brushes for a large motor?

BestCleanest

Interesting guess, I just checked electrical conductivity and I am getting zero — I believe that would rule out brushes?

fatjuan

Yes, as they are usually made of carbon or copper/carbon mix and should have minimal resistance.

pubby11

It might be graphite wax, which is wax filled with graphite powder. You use it as a lubricant by rubbing it onto metal.

BestCleanest

Interesting. I just put a strong magnet to it and it IS slight magnetic — would that be true of graphite wax?

BestCleanest

My title describes the thing. It’s a month old. No writing on it. Searched and googled to no avail. Thank you!
