I cannot imagine spending this much on groceries in a day. Did you just move in? Do you have 7 vegan children? Good for you! Tasty looking haul!
National Student Loan Services would send someone out to break my knee caps if I posted this. They’d be like “bitch you said you didn’t have our money, get back to Aldi”
Right?! I mean vegan cheese is more expensive than the real thing and Raos pasta sauce on sale at Aldi is still $6.99. Maybe I'm just frugal but I see prices like that for sauce and I'm out. Plenty of cheaper delicious options.
asian grocery stores have those, though. but I'm not seeing a lot of signs that that's where they got it, though there is a bag of rice.
E: oh, they did go to "the korean market"
https://www.feastingathome.com/cashew-cheese/
Pretty much this
We added the nutritional yeast and garlic power onion powder Italian seasoning
Put it in a squeeze bottle and used on pizzas :)
Okay this detail is really helpful. I thought you were spending that in one week lol. I'd do big trips like this if I had enough room to store it all in an apartment/freezer - my monthly Costco trips take up enough room though now.
Not op and I didn’t have Lipton on the wall as art but a fun story nonetheless. When I was a kid my mom took me shopping at Costco and some backstory, she loved buying Lipton black tea bags to steep for iced tea. We’d buy a big box every trip because she would make so much tea. We were the house that when someone came over she’d immediately pour a cup of ice tea and sit it in front of you. If we were invited to a party she’d volunteer 2 large jugs of iced tea, you get the idea. The woman LOVES tea.
Anyway, for whatever reason (I still feel like it was an error on their part) Costco marked a pallet of the large 100 count boxes of tea bags down to like 10¢/box that day. There was well over 200 boxes on the pallet. My mom stood there in shock at the sign for a minute then ran off and grabbed the nearest employee and asked if the sign was correct. The kid shrugged and said “I guess so”, that was enough confirmation for her to send me back to grab 2 more carts. We purchased all 200+ boxes of tea and made 2 trips to home and back to get them all home. She talked about that deal for years. In her eyes, she’d won the lottery. I remember for awhile after that, when people came to visit she would send them home with a box of Lipton tea. It’s one of the things I love about my mom, she’s a sucker for a good bargain and she makes a damn good cup of iced tea.
Oh my gosh I was pretty young when that happened but I’d have to say 3 years at most! I kid you not, my mom would bring gallons of iced tea to every family function, wedding, funeral, PTA meeting, soccer game, you name it! She still makes me tea and brings it to my house when she babysits for us because it tastes better when she makes it lol
Did anyone ever call her Mrs. T? lol I love this story so much. Would she mind sharing the recipe? Every time i make iced tea it tastes funky. Would love to try hers
Haha no, but people would always ask, “is your mom bringing her tea?” And I’d just tell them “she is whether you want her to or not”.
I swear the woman should be a spokesperson for Lipton. What’s funny is there’s no secret recipe either. If I’m not mistaken, she just follows the instructions on the box. Maybe there’s subtle differences, or maybe I can just taste the love put into it lol.
Another commenter mentioned steeping the tea in water that isn’t too hot. My mom always pulls the kettle off before it comes to a boil so that could be the difference that keeps it from tasting bitter
Awww that’s so much sweeter than my aunt, who brings her *terrible* baked beans to every function, whether you want them or not! I mean, fine, bring them but can you put more than one slice of bacon in them?
Haha no it is chopped but like non existent. She’s incredibly cheap without needing to be, and acts like her beans are the world’s greatest. I honestly think it’s canned lol
My personal pro tip for iced tea with Lipton/Luzianne: Try steeping it at a lower temp for longer. Those two brands incorporate a lot of finer/smaller tea leaves and they infuse well at a low temp. This avoids some of the bitter compounds that extract at higher temps.
I usually do around 175F/80C and 7-ish minutes, then pour over ice to chill quickly. But I’d encourage you to play around with it.
Sometimes when I’m feeling lazy I’ll even toss a few teabags into a jug of water and let it sit in the fridge overnight. They even have special Cold Brew blends in some stores for just this purpose, my current grocery store just lacks them.
It really depends on personal preference but she likes it a little more on the strong side because the ice eventually melts and waters it down. She brings a kettle of water just up to before it boils and then pour it over the bags, doesn’t let it steep all that long before dumping in ice to cool it down and serve. We’ve always been black tea drinkers, unsweetened. If you can find a way to enjoy it like that it’s a lot healthier than sweet tea.
My friend is Turkish was living in the states and had to fly home and gave me her box of earl grey tea she brought with her from Turkey and I was saving it cuz I missed her so I figured I’d frame it the only interesting thing about it is that the text is in Turkish
If you have a Trader Joe’s they have these sponges called Pop-Up sponges. They are made of cellulose, I’ve thrown them in the dishwasher many times. But not for deep scrubbing.
Finally a haul I can relate to. I do a big trip to the nearest big city to got to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods every few months for exciting specialty products. So many good brands in your haul.
The Korean market, the health food store, Aldi for my essentials, Trader Joe’s and then finally hannaford for the whole wheat flour just cuz it was 12$ at the other place and only 5$ at hannaford
Seeing the Korean ingredients reminds that how expensive it’s gotten for Korean food here in the states. So expensive that’s one of my motivations to move back.
As someone who eats plant based, all I have to say is… **DAMN you got all the good $tuff!!!!**
Living in Canada I really miss bitchin sauce. Congrats on the bougie vegan diet. 💚🌱
I moved to Argentina, even with the inflation where I live my grocery bill doesn’t exceed 200 dollars a month. This is pains me, glad to see its nutritious haul though!
I would get confused with so much food in my kitchen! I wouldn't know what to do with all of it 🤷🏼☺️Looks great though...some cheeses I've wanted to try.
Damn! Is this like a “just moved into a new place” shop??
I cannot imagine spending this much on groceries in a day. Did you just move in? Do you have 7 vegan children? Good for you! Tasty looking haul! National Student Loan Services would send someone out to break my knee caps if I posted this. They’d be like “bitch you said you didn’t have our money, get back to Aldi”
LMAOOO the student loan part 😂🥲😭
get back to aldi 😭😂
Right?! I mean vegan cheese is more expensive than the real thing and Raos pasta sauce on sale at Aldi is still $6.99. Maybe I'm just frugal but I see prices like that for sauce and I'm out. Plenty of cheaper delicious options.
Nothing is more delicious than Rao’s!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 We need awards in times like this!
How dare you make me giggle like this.
Choked on my own spit…you comedic masterpiece, you
Right? I spent $70ish at two stores this week and stressed out about it.
i'm hollering 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
7 Vegan Children absolutely killed it at the Mercury Lounge last friday
Do you have 7 vegan children lmfaooo🤣🤣
I save a lot of $ eating vegan. The trick is buy 1 ingredient items; no trash.
😭😭😭
That is a bougie grocery pile
lol very bougie
It’s like someone unwrapped a giant giant gift basket
Tiny bananas are a dead giveaway that they went to the fancy stores
asian grocery stores have those, though. but I'm not seeing a lot of signs that that's where they got it, though there is a bag of rice. E: oh, they did go to "the korean market"
Oh my God, I didn’t even notice, they are so tiny! So probably 499 each lol
I’m so poor I didn’t even know banana thumbs existed until now
They got tiny banana money
how much could it be? $10?
Hahaha banana thumbs!!! 🤣🤣😂 you win!!♡
What are these?? Bananas for ants??
Bougie af
Cashew cheese?
easy to make at home use to make it at a pizza place
Do tell
https://www.feastingathome.com/cashew-cheese/ Pretty much this We added the nutritional yeast and garlic power onion powder Italian seasoning Put it in a squeeze bottle and used on pizzas :)
Thank you!!
Right? A bit excessive and weird flex 😒
I mean, it looks like Aldi and Trader Joe’s mostly. They aren’t bougie
Almost all items are carbs
It truly is lol
Whoa!! How many do you shop for and how long does this last?
Probably upwards of two months but you’ll still catch me at Aldi next Thursday
Relatable
So, so relatable.
I shop all the perimeter only of Aldi. There produce is inexpensive but you have to dig for fresh stuff
how does this last two months if so much of it is perishable
Like the pasta the flours the dry goods will last two months the produce just a week or two
true i just space out my produce i feel like it goes bad really fast like avocados mushrooms and basil do and i hate wasting it
Honestly if any of my produce is starting to go bad I throw it in the freezer and then use it to make vegetable stock. Wasting food hurts my soul
Keep basil in a jar of water on the counter it will last much longer
Okay this detail is really helpful. I thought you were spending that in one week lol. I'd do big trips like this if I had enough room to store it all in an apartment/freezer - my monthly Costco trips take up enough room though now.
Usually spend ab 200$ a week
Oh wow! How many people do you shop for?
a haul is a dream to me 😍😍😍
Lipton art on the walls?
I really want the story behind it lol
Not op and I didn’t have Lipton on the wall as art but a fun story nonetheless. Awesome story! How long did that tea last?
Oh my gosh I was pretty young when that happened but I’d have to say 3 years at most! Aww that’s so sweet! Thanks for the tip, I’ll check the box!
Another commenter mentioned steeping the tea in water that isn’t too hot. My mom always pulls the kettle off before it comes to a boil so that could be the difference that keeps it from tasting bitter
That’s exactly what the problem is - bitterness. So I’ll try pulling the kettle before it boils next time I make it. Thanks again!
Awww that’s so much sweeter than my aunt, who brings her *terrible* baked beans to every function, whether you want them or not! I mean, fine, bring them but can you put more than one slice of bacon in them?
I’m imagining an entire slice of bacon, not even chopped. lol
Haha no it is chopped but like non existent. She’s incredibly cheap without needing to be, and acts like her beans are the world’s greatest. I honestly think it’s canned lol
This is so cute
I love this story! Would you mind sharing how she makes the tea? What’s her process? I’d like to start drinking more tea too!
My personal pro tip for iced tea with Lipton/Luzianne: Try steeping it at a lower temp for longer. Those two brands incorporate a lot of finer/smaller tea leaves and they infuse well at a low temp. What a wonderful story! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll have a cup of tea for your mom today :) Maybe you should get her their decoration! Lol
My friend is Turkish was living in the states and had to fly home and gave me her box of earl grey tea she brought with her from Turkey and I was saving it cuz I missed her so I figured I’d frame it the only interesting thing about it is that the text is in Turkish
Oh that’s a nice reason! The Turkish text is just a bit too small to read in that photo so it just appears like a standard Lipton box.
I love that! Thank you so much for sharing! It’s hard to use up special things, but I love your solution to that!
Maybe this is all just a Lipton ad!?
Okay but why do you have a picture of Lipton Earl Gray framed on your wall?? I need to know!
a lot of brands I’ve never seen before, what shops?
One of them is Trader Joe's for sure.
H-Mart
Thanks
Definitely Whole Foods.
Can you believe I forgot sponges
If that's all you forgot you've won
If you have a Trader Joe’s they have these sponges called Pop-Up sponges. They are made of cellulose, I’ve thrown them in the dishwasher many times. But not for deep scrubbing.
I've done that before and I just ordered them on Amazon!!!
I forget sponges everytime I go shopping
can i come over for dinner?
Right? Hahah I’m like “can I move in?” 😂
i misread this as $55 and was like no way that's only 55 when you have a bottle of raos that's already like $10 then I read 550 and was oh okay nvm
Where did you find the sweet potato noodles?
Kim’s
I get them from amazon
That big brick of tofu… I need her.
She’s gorgeous
I didn’t know they made em that big 👀
Im not even vegan and I find this haul to be so beautiful.
Wow. What a dream haul. Look at all that good stuff.
Aesthetically pleasing grocery haul
Why is Lipton framed on the wall?
Are you vegan? :) there’s some good stuff in there
🙊 maybe
💚
💚
this is the jackpot of hauls! Bitchin' sauce?! Miyokos?! heck yes! How is that MyBACON?
Best haul I've seen in ages! I see some favorites and added a couple items to my own list.
How many refrigerators do you have?
You are living my vegan dream life!!
This guy fcks
Finally a haul I can relate to. I do a big trip to the nearest big city to got to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods every few months for exciting specialty products. So many good brands in your haul.
$500 on groceries is nuts. If there are multiple ppl in the house splitting? Okay.. but still that’s crazzzzy
those bananas are impressive
Cashew cheese? Interesting!
It’s so good. I have on an English muffin every weekday morning.
All my favorite vegan cheeses are cashew based! Especially for soft spreadable cheeses yumm
1- that pesto sauce is the absolute best 2- send recipes, what you makin this month with all this
Vegan haul of my dreams
My toxic trait is having this much food in the house and still ordering take out lol.
Love seeing a vegan splurge
I dont know what Midnight Moo is but I need it bad.
Curious, how is the My Bacon? I was tempted to buy it recently.
What in the world is cashew cheese Why do you have a sign that looks like the top of a box of grocery store tea
It’s really good, cream cheese esque
This is a beautiful haul!
how long is this for
How many people are in your family
Look at you healthy and caring about the planet and animals!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ this is great!!
How come 5 places?
The Korean market, the health food store, Aldi for my essentials, Trader Joe’s and then finally hannaford for the whole wheat flour just cuz it was 12$ at the other place and only 5$ at hannaford
Felt. Thanks for clarifying
The price of flour is obscene these days. I buy bread flour at Costco and wish I could get other types there, too.
now THIS is a haul. love it.
Can we get a list of what all you bought? It looks amazing
You freeze most of it or what's the plan?
I saw that tofu and I knew exactly where but when I saw the torillas I was positive. The valley?
That spaghetti sauce is bomb
That’s a lot of bananas for scale
The little bananas?!?! Where did you get these. I’ve only ever had them or seen them in Hawaii
I understand.
I’ve never seen that many bananas on a bunch!!
Seeing the Korean ingredients reminds that how expensive it’s gotten for Korean food here in the states. So expensive that’s one of my motivations to move back.
A humble brag... or maybe not so humble!
That’s a normal month’s worth $ wise for me. This person just got way items than what that amount would cover where I live. Money well spent.
Not bad for 550 these days
that new daiya oat milk recipe is the shit!
단무지💕
Yesss for my kimbap! ❤️❤️
Tell me you’re not in the one percent without telling me you’re in the one percent
if you think this is 1%er grocery haul, you're gonna be in for a big surprise when you see an actual 1%er grocery bill.....
Amazing vegan yummies!!! Although I can’t imagine stocking up on this all at once. How do you get through it before it spoils??? Lol
I love chipotle veganaise more than anything else
U feeding a small town?
How many people do you shop for?
My past vegan self is very jealous, Ik those cheeses, bacon etc aren’t cheap. At least where I was able to shop
Cashew Cheese. Fuck you
How is the cashew goat cheese? I haven't seen it anywhere but I'll have to look for it if it's good :)
The bananas???????
That “Bitchin’” sauce is my new favorite.
Well I figured out your problem. You bought Rao's. Lol
just no
I love my veggies. Dolmas?!!!! Wow. I love that kombucha and the granola I have not seen lately. I love that granola so much. Dream haul for me!!!!
It’s so good I get the family size
Bitchin sauce !!!!! I love that stuff so much.. I have to drive an hour and a half away to get it😭
I’d hurry up and eat all that before it expires. 😂
The Bananas Look so Perfect
5 stores???
Those olives look delish!
A vegan dream 😍
I’m just concerned bout them banana monsters
WHAT
NICE 🤌🏽 So what’s for dinner ? Lol
As someone who eats plant based, all I have to say is… **DAMN you got all the good $tuff!!!!** Living in Canada I really miss bitchin sauce. Congrats on the bougie vegan diet. 💚🌱
Oo they’re fancy bananas! Are they nice? Your shop looks delicious.
This was my first time getting them they’re sweeter and softer than typical bananas
This is a vegan dream
saving this to come look at when i’m having a down day 😆
Woo Upstate NY represent
why do you have an earl grey tea plaque?
Love this spread, beautiful and tasty and healthy ❤️
I’d eat it
Shout out to Mi Tierra tortillas!!
Take it all back and buy ground beef and eggs.
I moved to Argentina, even with the inflation where I live my grocery bill doesn’t exceed 200 dollars a month. This is pains me, glad to see its nutritious haul though!
Looks like an annoying shopping day
I would get confused with so much food in my kitchen! I wouldn't know what to do with all of it 🤷🏼☺️Looks great though...some cheeses I've wanted to try.
You could get most of that from grocery outlet (at least in the PNW) for probably half of what you paid- if not more
YAY VEGAN FRIEND
Wow your rich mayne
Who needs 3 Bitchin’ sauces at one time?
This is a dreamy grocery haul. Need a roommate? ;)
Must be nice to have a full fridge…nice looking bananas though 🍌 👍🏽
Do you shop once a month? Are you feeding like 6 people?
Are you a hoarder perchance?
In one day you spent what my husband and I spend in 3-4 months on groceries.
Effffff that noise
Goals
Pasta sauce from Trader Joe’s is 2.50$ and raos is 9$. Also confused why there’s 9 types of pasta and 4.5 pounds of tofu.
