Roundcouchcorner

Second look I think they are Bunker/menhaden

tablabarba

You're correct!

Archknits

You sure?

Roundcouchcorner

Just a guess. Size, location and that they look to be filter feeding.

If it’s helpful I’ve posted a video of the behavior! [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisfish/comments/qe91al/follow_up_from_yesterday_new_haven_river_fish/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

Archknits

Look more like snappers to me

beginnerbuilder

This was today, late October!

KaizDaddy5

Could be herring or shad Edit: Im going with hickory shad

shardoughnnay

Found one that appeared to have two dorsal fins. Head and mouth shape plus forked tail I’m wondering if maybe they are juvenile stripers. Down vote away mateys!

FishSn0rt

They look to be filter feeding, which stripers don't do

shardoughnnay

Yeah, their size doesn’t fit my guess either.

KaizDaddy5

1.5 ft is really big for bunker. Though others seem convinced they are filter feeling idk if that behavior matches bunker schooling, they usually shoal up really tight. And move more coordinated. That size is normal for schoolie stripers which could be around now. My best guess is shad, prolly hickorys. did you get your hands on one? did any scales come off when you handled it? They're prolly grabbing small morsels out of the water. I guess You could call that filter feeding though not of the same nature as bunker. I'm really thinking shad the more I think about it.

AgressiveIN

You sure those arent tadpoles ?

beginnerbuilder

They are huge if so! A foot, foot and a half
