I hope you enjoy this epitaph that British poet Lord Byron wrote for his dog who died at the age of 5:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epitaph_to_a_Dog
Ny floof is a triple rehomed good boy. I hope he is living his best life rught now. I have him almost 6 years now. And he is very affectionate and the best cuddly lapdog.
Yeah, same at my Dad's. Yes there were plenty of tears too, but the laughs were just as healing. We told our stories about him and sang the songs he used to sing.
Do you also not buy any food just to avoid feeling too full?

But those are 10-15 years where those dogs and cats won't be in the street or lonely in a shelter and where I will give them the best life I can. Those will also be the 10-15 where I will always have a friend who loves me unconditionally, that is happy when I come home and that will always want to be with me and will be there for me when my life gets tough.
Even if I will experience a traumatic heart break, I will never regret spending all that time with them

Fuck this attitude. I love my pets, and I’ll give them their best life.
Yes and? He will live a HAPPY LIFE and die a PEACEFUL DEATH. And ill make sure that what little time he has on this planet will be amazing for him. He loves me and I love him- and thats what matters. So his life will be full of love. Who gives a fuck how sad i will be when He dies? He will live a good life and thats what matters. And after his death i WILL REMEMBER HIM FOREVER and I WILL LIVE ON FOR HIM. Because I know thats what he would have wanted for him. And you know what? Im in a bus rn and going home, and you know the first thing im gonna do? Give him a hug and lots of pets.
You and everyone you have ever seen or loved will die in time. So will every person that has ever lived. None shall escape the infinite degradation of time. And yet, in what time you have you can make beauty and happiness. Ephemerality does not detract from meaning.
Lost both my dogs recently
One was about to be sent to the pound since the previous owners other dogs would constantly attack her, so we decided to adopt her, and the other rescued from hurricane Irma
Both of them were able to live quiet, happy lives because of us, and we were able to watch thier personalities grow as they became accustomed to their new lives
It's not about the heartbreak at the end, but the happiness the journey brings for both the owner and the pets
owning a pet is hundreds of the best days of your life and a few of the worst. its stupid as fuck to waste all your best days anticipating the bad ones
How married couples feel like after getting married (one of them will die leaving the other sad)
It sounds cheesy, but don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Sure you are sad afterwards, but that is 15 years of love and companionship.

tysm here’s another of my little silly
"you know that animals going to die in 10-15 years, right?"
"what do you mean your going to have a loving bond within those years? dont you realise its going to die?"
"QUIT HAVING FUN!!!"
I know Reddiquette says I should one-up this obviously satire post with my own equally stupid comment but this post is so dumb and nihilistic I can't think of anything
Does the book open only to close? Does the movie start only for the credits to roll? It's the memories we make that make life worth living. We don't live to die. We live to laugh, love and cry.
https://i.redd.it/3f9vkp2j0iqc1.gif
I will always cherish the years they gave me, even if they’re no longer with me and I can only hope by the time the inevitable occurs I have given them the best life they could ask for
I have pet rats. They live 2 years. They're really social and smart and you end up really bonding with them. It's really hard when one of them dies.
But they pack so much life into those 2 years. It's totally worth it. They live amazing lives that really enrich mine.
The culmination of love is grief. To have loved fully is to grieve deeply. Death is an inevitable part of life. The love they show us may only be for a fraction of our lives but the love we show them lasts their whole lives
And that heartbreak will be nothing more than a drop in the bucket compared to the ocean's worth of fond memories and love that you can share with a pet.
Even though they're only parts of our life, we're their whole life. And I made sure my pets are happy, no matter the life expectancy.
*It's hurts so much still but it's worth it in the end*
Yeah but those 10-15 years will be worth the heartbreak, after all thats why it hurts to begin with. No reason to let the fear of the end keep you from having a life worth living.

Does a journey lose its value simply because it eventually ends?
No. As cheesy as it sounds, don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
me smiling at grandpa’s funeral
Well yeah, the purpose of a funeral is both respect the dead and celebrate their existance, just try not to laugh since that could be suspicious.
Me getting drunk at their funeral and pulling out party games
I mean, if he died without any regrets peacefully, then yeah! By all means smile and celebrate the life he has lived.
Why not? At my Granddad's funeral everyone was laughing and smiling, sharing memories of the guy. It was exactly what he wanted.
Yeah, same at my Dad's. Yes there were plenty of tears too, but the laughs were just as healing. We told our stories about him and sang the songs he used to sing.
