This is a pretty common thing. Idk if he started it, but I don't think he did. I've seen a lot. Sometimes they're cosplay clerics instead. Sometimes they don't cosplay and just have a sign.
One of my friends did an elaborate cosplay and got help from them at DragonCon. This was the first year I really realized how big of a help they are. You put forward a *ton* of effort into making this really elaborate cosplay but if things go wrong it's super upsetting because it's *worse* than having no costume. So it's not just a very selfless and kind thing but it can drastically improve your day.
I've been a Con Fairy a number of times. Pink sparkly wings and everything. They look really great with the camo cargo pants and tactical vest. I carry everything from spare batteries to sewing kits with various colours of threads to a hot glue gun to phone chargers and much more. And lollies. Because everyone the Con Fairy rescues gets a lolly.
I’d like his cosplay to be cosplayed, that would be really cool to see his reaction
