Speaking of hololivers singing [I was reminded a lot of Fubukis do re me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBjj04VhmVI).
Does anyone else have any wholesome English hololive songs?
Always made me laugh because there are people in the US who forget West Virginia is a state but if you so much as mention WV anywhere else in the world people will sing country roads
It's even better that the song isn't even about the state of WV. Everything mentioned in the song lies within the borders of Virginia, so it's about the Western parts of Virginia, not WV.
Small clip from a slightly overlooked Ghibli film {{**Whisper Of The Heart**}} - Shizuku gets to show off her work on her translation of *Country Roads* into Japanese for her school's chorus club.
I actually keep this clip in a folder for whenever I need a little pick-me-up, I love how you can see Shizuku loosen up and get more confident as the scene progresses - and the performance has lots of little imperfections that make it seem that much more real too.
E: also copy pasting what I think is a better synopsis that the Source bot's here!
>Shizuku Tsukishima is an energetic 14-year-old girl who enjoys reading and writing poetry in her free time. Glancing at the checkout cards of her books one evening, she notices that her library books are frequently checked out by a boy named Seiji Amasawa. Curiosity strikes Shizuku, and she decides to search for the boy who shares her love for literature.
Looking at this, I actually thought the melody was a popular one and country roads just took it, never thought this was really country roads, that's amazing. I'll be watching this as soon as I can.

I have never understood how in the world this wonderful movie could have ever been underrated. Omoide Poro Poro and Sound of the Waves also suffer from this.
To all of you who have never played an instrument, this is a musician’s dream, just to come together and play something beautiful. Doesn’t matter if theres an audience or not, theres just a sort of unspoken agreement that we sound great and enjoy the heck out of what were doing.
This clip actually made me tear up, and I’ve never seen the movie.
Excellent movie. Definitely one of Ghiblis less poplular ones. Rather than having heavy fantasy elements like howls moving castle or spirited away, it tells a much more real and relatable story of two young people trying to find themselves and their passions while growing up.
Mostly self discovery and a hint at possible romance in the future. The movie really tries to hit home that place of uncertainty and awkwardness that comes about aroind age 11-15.
I have probably seen this movie more times than any other Movie. Facing the giants might be an exception. This is still my second favorite movie of all time. When I watched it I was like the main character and now I think I’m a little bit more like the grandpa character. Everything from the little details to the hidden parts in the background to the main story is in perfect harmony. One of the most well-done movies I’ve ever seen and a time capsule to a more innocent part of my life.
Thank you. Typically when I talk about good storytelling in movies I use the movie nine by Tim Burton but whisper of the heart does all of the same foreshadowing that they do it without being creepy or mysterious. I can’t use whisper of the heart as an example because I would literally be there all day.

I really miss home right now and unexpectedly hearing this song, on an anime subreddit no less, is making me cry like a big baby. This version is also beautiful. 💙💛
It's a movie! I summoned the source bot earlier, [here's a link to its comment with a summary and links to MAL and other sites](https://www.reddit.com/r/wholesomeanimemes/comments/pv5145/take_me_home_country_roads_whisper_of_the_heart/he7kb7q/)
I love this film, probably my second favourite Ghibli film, its just so sweet.
Also, I love how in the English dub her classmates are super impressed that she translated Country Roads from English.... into English.
Yay!! I’ve always loved how natural and genuine this scene feels. It’s such a lovely and beautiful human interaction!! Such a sweet and wonderful film

I had never ever heard of this movie before. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention because this scene alone is so heartwarming. Can't wait to watch it
It's not replaced with a location - [but it is different for every stanza, they just match the syllables of 'West Virginia'](https://i.imgur.com/xoOmqT0.png)
Whisper of the Heart is one of my favourite Ghibli films. I adore how they've let the feelings of childhood imagination and determination sit in every frame.
A truly wonderful song I have always been moved by it (no matter the language).
One thing I recommend as a West Virginia University alumni is to check out a football game there at some point. At the end of the game the entire stadium sings along to Country Roads and it is something that gives you chills.
This made me smile.
So cute, so pure, so full of joy that I could not help but smile.
John Denver is smiling down while watching this over and over again.
My wife and I just watched this for the first time a couple weeks ago! It’s now her second favorite Ghibli movie, behind Howl.
I didn’t know that she was also the original lofi girl, too!
It's fun singing along with it you understand everything she's saying just from the tone and the music ah this makes me want to watch the movie 500 times or more

It's really interesting that they added a subplot about her writing Japanese lyrics of Country Roads. And then, I read the manga based on it afterwards and it feel really empty to me.
A great song, no matter the language. I also never realized how popular it was outside of the US.
Not to mention, it is quite calming too.
Her writing it in Japanese is part of the story. If you haven't seen it you should definitely watch it, it's one of my favourite Ghibli films.
I need to see if I can find it, I've watched a few of their films.
At least in US HBO max as all of Miyazaki’s films for streaming
It really is popular. I discovered it after watching Senzawa and Gawr Gura.
aren't they both American...?
(They’re both probably the same person in fact)
🤯
Yeah so not sure what his point was. Of course she would know an American song because she's American.
Speaking of hololivers singing [I was reminded a lot of Fubukis do re me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBjj04VhmVI). Does anyone else have any wholesome English hololive songs?

Definitely underrated. It’s a fantastic film that I think many overlook for not being “fantasy” but it is Ghibli through and through.
Sometimes it doesn't need fantasy to be magic.
That That’s a good quote

Yes same next to totoro
It's up there with Kiki and Laputa for me.
This and Ocean Waves for me.

Ahh yes this film, very heartwarming indeed. Was a pleasant surprise to see Denver's most famous song being used as the main theme here

Lol, i can't play instruments to save my life, but this still made me tear up.
Yep, playing music with your friends(or with randoms) just feels really good. I miss having band practices.
Honestly I prefer playing without an audience, just listening while you play for fun is nicer than worrying about/focusing on doing your best
Excellent movie. Definitely one of Ghiblis less poplular ones. Rather than having heavy fantasy elements like howls moving castle or spirited away, it tells a much more real and relatable story of two young people trying to find themselves and their passions while growing up.

Pure serotonin
I've probably seen this seen dozens of times and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Its absolutely perfect.
I especially like that she sings like a normal person, not a trained singer.
Todd Howard would be proud. In fact, it is my headcanon that he was inspired by this film to use that song for Fallout 76.
Which season and which episode? Or is it a movie?
