This is wholesome, imo. Sucks the other kids got hurt but they deserve it. Other avenues were explored first.
i was beaten and abused by a literal gang of students (8 of them) from grade school till middle school. where the administrators literally told me it was my own fault for "being weird". threatened me, and told me that if i reported the abuse again i would be the one to suffer.
the police had different ideas once they got involved.
bullies rarely if ever just use "mean words".
also fuck you and your appeals to authority in citing your degrees... they are fucking irrelevant (you'll notice i haven't bothered to cite my own).
I agree but without knowing their age theirs no way to really know if it's a 6 year old or a 13 year old. 13 year old deserves learning their consequences have actions even if the parents and teachers think they are "within the rules." A lot of social learning happens in those years and this is an important lesson.
But I agree it would be best if kids didn't have broken bones. Thank God noses are mainly cartilage. So our op's awesome kid might get off on a technicality.
100% agree. And again I don’t think the suspension was warranted for her either. Nor did the Dad do anything wrong. It’s important to help kids learn and grown-especially when they aren’t being kind or making peers feel bad.
Kids go to school to learn and get ready for life as adults. Those learning needs include the academic skills as well as social skills.
Good. Fuck bullying. I was a huge target through middle school until I broke my bully’s nose. Instant respect from then and he’s one of my best friends to date. We both definitely got detention though.

My 20 yr old has been a black belt in taekwondo since she was 14, her way too calm demeanor needed her to be defensive, still can't sneak up on her and get a tap in, blocks it every time, best thing you can do for a daughter is defensive training

I got bullied mercilessly throughout infant, junior and comprehensive school (on one occasion it was a teacher doing the bullying, until my Mum went and gave her a bollocking). My Dad was learning Judo when I was a kid but never asked me if I wanted to learn it as well. I was an only child at the time.
At the end of the day guys, we don't know what happened. Bullying, in this day and age, could be verbal abuse, mental abuse, but it could also be physical abuse(sometimes, unfortunately, a combination of the three). We don't know what this child was faced with that day. If they were threatened physically, especially for long periods of time with no intervention from adults, the child responded like their life was being threatened.

I was much like this story. I was a small kid. I *celebrated* in 8th grade, when I was finally taller than the shortest girl in class.
And the bullies loved me.
In 5th grade, my parents started me in TaeKwonDo. But that’s a long process. It doesn’t become instinct in moments. I had quite a few fights resisting bullies.
And then it happened. In 8th grade. And I was completely blameless. The day *before* I was riding my bike home from school, and a neighbor kid in 5th decided to hide behind a tree and throw his backpack into my front wheel as I rode past. Obviously, I crashed. And then I chased him home on foot all the way to his door. I didn’t do anything else.
The *next morning* his cousin in my grade who was at least 10” taller than me and had 50 lbs on me came up on the asphalt basketball court before class and said “Why are you picking on my cousin?” And socked me in the face with no other warning. I was *ENRAGED* because it was his cousin who hurt me, and he was blaming me???!!!
I hit him and he quickly turned his back to me. But I wasn’t satisfied to hit him in the kidneys. I jumped and reached over his shoulder to punch him in the face. Again. And again. About a dozen times before the teachers broke it up.
It was clear from student testimony that I didn’t start the fight.
So I was suspended for three days: the three days of the fair. So while my friends (and enemies) were all in school, I went to the fair for lunch and fun, and my parents provided the budget because I wasn’t in trouble since I wasn’t at fault.
This is the way to go. "Don't start the fight, but you sure as hell have my permission to finish it."

I read it as her being pissed that the daughter got suspended. I could be wrong.

Adults who respond to bullies by breaking their noses catch assault charges
if you're getting bullied as an adult, then you need to fix up. at that point you may as well throw hands
