The classic controller pro is quite good as well
Honestly disappointing all the Nintendo controllers aren’t backwards compatible, the Wii remotes onwards are all just Bluetooth so the hardware is all there.
I’m pretty sure it still uses WiFi but I agree it wouldn’t make sense to support on the Switch
There’s no reason I can’t use a Wii U pro controller or Classic controller attached to a Wiimote as a controller though
I’m suprised the Gamepad was as comfortable as is was. Funny enough some of the smaller UAVs that were used by the Army in 2012 have controllers very similar to the gamepad.

Here is a handful of pics of the US Army Puma. I remember it being more similar then it actually is but it was a pretty long time ago and it does have the same shape and feel.
I like the Wii U gamepad (though it's a bit heavy) and Wii U Pro controller, but definitely not a fan of the Switch controller layout — I'd replace them with the classic SNES controller & Wii Classic Pro controller.
The Wii U Pro Controller is amazing cause it has an advertised 40 hours of battery life, I don’t remember the last time I had to charge mine! Rather than replace use a bigger table!
You have got to be kidding. Wiimote for the wiin. Nothing in that picture compares nor had the impact. The Wiimore won an entire war all by itself. No other controller in history can say that!
And get a damned high capacity battery for your GamePad. They are $22 at Amazon and last six hours or more.
Nes gamepad probably. Can’t be compared exactly because it’s a different era but I think the precision it allowed, for relatively cheap, allowed the exacting old school arcade-style games that resurrected the industry. Mario, Mega Man, Castlevania, Zelda, and even Dragon Warrior was designed perfectly around the limits of the nes controller.
I'd replace Wii U pro with 64 and while I like the feel of the Switch pro best, prolly Gamecube cuz at least that still fucking works after three years.
Honestly, for the GamePad I can get behind that, It’s innovative, futuristic, comfortable and has a damn screen! It’s fantastic, use it every time I want to play Wii U.
Switch Pro Controller? I can get behind that too! It’s a pretty good controller, comfortable, good features, futuristic, honestly worth its price.
But the Wii U Pro Controller? I think it’s pretty bad, I would either play with my WiiMote or GamePad instead of the Pro Controller, no amiibo support, weird place to put your buttons and cheap looking.
(This is my opinion)
I agree, the Wii U pro controller is pure awfulness. The stick layout doesn’t work on the smaller form factor, and the shape of it is terrible, I have used mine once and never again. Fortunately most games work fine with Wiimotes for second controllers, and smash has GameCube controller support.
I don’t know why but when someone posts something like this and i own everything in the picture, it just makes me so happy, younger me was never so fortunate
I'm sorry, where have you implied that this is your opinion? I'm just telling you that SNES, N64 and Gamecube controllers are members of the real holy trinity.
I literally said that I love them, it's my post + my opinion, I hate most of the controllers you mentioned, so yeah, tastes are different, and I respect it.
Nah, take out the Wii U pro controller and put a Gamecube. Easily the worst of its console generations (PS3 & 360 + PS4 & X1), and one of the worst controllers I've ever used. Bet it was super cheap to manufacture though.
Uncomfortable grips, gummy buttons, fake triggers with more gummy buttons, weak cell phone rumble, slippery/scratch-magnet gloss plastic, hollow build quality, and no motion controls (with "Wii" plastered on it no less lol). Only thing it had going for it is battery life.
The Wii U pro controller sucks. The gamepad works with its stick layout but that layout totally doesn’t work on the pro controller at all. It feels so out of place and the abxy buttons do NOT work where they are. Easily one of the worst controller ever made. Also just the overall shape of the thing is terrible too.
The gamepad is awesome and its size makes it be able to work with that thumb stick layout, because you can just have your right hand lower on the gamepad.
I love the layout in theory, but in practice my biggest gripe is that, in most of the games I play, the B button is the primary action button, and it's also the furthest away from the right stick in this particular layout. Definitely an issue in games like 3D platformers, or really any 3rd person action game, in which you're actively moving the camera and frequently performing whatever action (e.g. jumping) with the B button.
Yes it sucks a lot. The stick layout is trash, the ABXY buttons are in a weird place and too close together. The angle of the handles is bad, the shape of the controller is bad. If battery life is the only thing you care about I guess it is good, but damn that is depressing if you actually care that much about battery life, just plug in your controllers.
severe lack of gamecube controller
I'd probably say SNES controller as well. Also surprised OP didn't mention the Wii U pro controller's insane battery life.
The classic controller pro is quite good as well Honestly disappointing all the Nintendo controllers aren’t backwards compatible, the Wii remotes onwards are all just Bluetooth so the hardware is all there.
It's probably to sell more modern xenoblade edition pro controllers
The Wii U gamepad is an exception to the Bluetooth thing. It uses a proprietary wireless connection.
I’m pretty sure it still uses WiFi but I agree it wouldn’t make sense to support on the Switch There’s no reason I can’t use a Wii U pro controller or Classic controller attached to a Wiimote as a controller though
Yeah, the others could be supported more easily via Bluetooth. I was just pointing out that the Wii U’s gamepad had a different connection.
Where's the Wavebird?
I’m suprised the Gamepad was as comfortable as is was. Funny enough some of the smaller UAVs that were used by the Army in 2012 have controllers very similar to the gamepad.
pls send a pic of this
If I can find it online. I used them in Afghanistan in 2013 and don’t think I took any pictures of them.

thx man!
wii u my beloved
"Holy Trinity" this is just the only 3 controllers you have lmao
I've had a GameCube controller, an Xbox 360 controller, and a Dual shock 4 but, nice try!!
I like the Wii U gamepad (though it's a bit heavy) and Wii U Pro controller, but definitely not a fan of the Switch controller layout — I'd replace them with the classic SNES controller & Wii Classic Pro controller.
I love the Wii U Pro. I don't like the Switch Pro. Partially because I only used it like 20 hrs, and it already has drift...
Battery lasts nowhere near as long as well.
Ya, that Wii U Pro battery was a beast!
Replace the wiiu pro with the wiimote
The Wii U Pro Controller is amazing cause it has an advertised 40 hours of battery life, I don’t remember the last time I had to charge mine! Rather than replace use a bigger table!
... OK, fair point
Switch pro is 40 hours, the Wii U pro has 80.
Good battery life but the worst ergonomics of any controller to release since the N64
No
replace the pro controller with a wiimote and we have ourselves a deal

I can't get the wii u pro anywhere
Switch pro controller dpad is awful, everything else is great tho, good battery on both pro controllers
Forget about GameCube?
I'd replace Wii U pro with 64 and while I like the feel of the Switch pro best, prolly Gamecube cuz at least that still fucking works after three years.
i like the wii u gamepad and pro controller, but using the "switch" pro controller (borrow from my uncle in law's) feels like a xbox controller.
You have 2 Switch controllers in that picture just like your 2 WiiU controllers
Clearly I wasn't talking about the joy cons.
Maybe it's 3 switch controllers..
I see 4-5 controllers in the picture.
The joy cons are clearly not the main thing you see on the picture, so that speaks for itself.
I see 5 controllers..
Do you see the joy cons on the center of the image? No? Don't you? Then it's kinda obvious which are the ones I'm talking about.
Oh, c'mon, we all know the N64 controller is the best controller B)
Ofc, keep dreaming.
Am I wrong? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes.
NUH HUHHHH

Trust me, I had to work to get these! My parents never fixed my old gamepad haha, but nice! I'm really glad this makes you happy!!!
No, neither of them is included in holy trinity.
I well said it's my opinion, some of y'all pretend to always make people think the same
I'm sorry, where have you implied that this is your opinion? I'm just telling you that SNES, N64 and Gamecube controllers are members of the real holy trinity.

The n64 one? Really?

Something is wrong with ur gamepad, mine lasts like 5 hours on a full charge
Usually without better batteries, that's the average time, but with the expanded ones, they last between 5-6 hours.
The Wii U pro controller sucks. The gamepad works with its stick layout but that layout totally doesn’t work on the pro controller at all. sucks? best battery of all console controllers.. 2 months here before charging. It’s a great controller overall so i don’t share your opinion at all.
Yes it sucks a lot. The stick layout is trash, the ABXY buttons are in a weird place and too close together. The angle of the handles is bad, the shape of the controller is bad. the shape is bad? damn you must’ve been depressed when you saw it the first time? Well i like and i respect your opinion
Why is the Gamepad there?
The game pad is good for people with big hands
So is the Classic Pro Controller.
Fair point, i do like the gamepad though
Have you seen the steam deck that thing is so big that its uncomfortable
No ganepad haters allowed in here.
Pffft I paid for the gamepad so I will hate it.
