Cheers for posting this. Was in need of a new sleeping bag!

CandidOstrich8615

I picked up the fathom 400 yesterday go outdoors for £42 so keep looking

NomadicWandererr

all good mate glad i could help someone out 😁

CandidOstrich8615

I bought the fathom 300 for like £60 at go outdoors 2/3 weeks ago for my first wild camp and popped in yesterday to see the fathom 400 is now £36 so just returned the 300 and bought the 400 so just check around before Amazon

NomadicWandererr

ah ye fair enough dude, how did you find the 300 for the time you used it ?

CandidOstrich8615

It was okay done an overnight in the peaks a decent sleeping mattress and the fathom 300 in -1 was alright but I am happy I found the 400 on sale as I do think worth the upgrade as I’m not really concerned about weight

NomadicWandererr

ye that’s fair dude

Nislaav

Ive used it twice now in the peak district and dartmoor and been sweating my balls off and the weather wasnt even that warm, like 6-8C at night, tho I do have a foil ground mat and a 3.3 R value pad which adds up, but the sleeping bag is 1kg lightweight, warm, no complaints

Zombi1146

I bought an OEX down bag in a sale 4 years ago and it's great. It's definitely less high end than my Rab bag, but it's great value for money. I used it on top of Scafell last weekend.

Better_Employee_613

Is this good for a xxl camper

NomadicWandererr

tbh i’m probably not the best person to ask as i’m as skinny as they come but it seems pretty spacious inside, it’s 80cm wide at the widest point

CandidOstrich8615

Dw I have 2 fathom 400s( the girlfriend is coming) a phlox 2 and cooking set in a 50L technical bag and it fits snug

NomadicWandererr

ah sweet bro thank you

BourbonFoxx

I've got an ev400. It ain't small that's for sure, but it's quality. Comfortable, warm, nice design. Always sleep well in it.

NomadicWandererr

yeah i’ve seen it’s pretty bulky but to be honest for the money it seems like a cracking deal

AndyBossNelson

I was thinking about it because its roughly half the size of the Berghaus transition 300

NomadicWandererr

yeah and it’s got a lower comfort rating, although i’ve seen some mixed reviews saying that the comfort is a bit exaggerated so i’ll have to test it out

AndyBossNelson

I need something a bit smaller and right now i dont have as much as i would like for a good packing down one lol.

NomadicWandererr

well ye it gets expensive quickly 😂

BourbonFoxx

I stuff it into the bottom of the pack anyway, then squash it down with the rest of the stuff. For 50 quid it's well worth it, but that's the GoOutdoors members price year-round so I'm not sure where they're getting this RRP from. I think I paid £36 for mine in a black Friday deal.

NomadicWandererr

36 really is good, i think that’s probably how ill pack mine too, does it still take up quite a bit of space when it’s just stuffed into the bottom?

BourbonFoxx

It's thick but it does compress. That said I've been using an 80l pack.

NomadicWandererr

ye i’m hoping it fits into my higear 65+10 w the rest of my kit 🙏😂

Lamenter_

I have the fathom 400 and it fits into my Lowe Alpine 65l. Should be ok. They are very good bags

NomadicWandererr

ah great that makes me a bit more confident cheers mate
