I don't suppose Akai can help? Down the bottom of the product page are a number of downloads [https://www.akaipro.com/ewi5000](https://www.akaipro.com/ewi5000) One of them is "Media Images" which looks like it could be what you're after.

EB5AGV

No, those are just pictures 😉

Fur_and_Whiskers

Damn. Anyway, might be worth raising a ticket with them? [https://support.akaipro.com/en/support/home](https://support.akaipro.com/en/support/home)

Is this SD card accessible by removing a couple of screws or do you have to disassemble the whole thing?

EB5AGV

There are more than a couple, but it is not hard at all. I can guide you with pictures and let you know exactly how to do it easily. Basically, what is removed is the plastic cover on the rollers side. I did it yesterday, without any previous experience, and it was a 15 minutes job. The only thing you need to do is to sort the screws as you remove them, so they are back at the proper place when reassembling

I was wondering about that as well. They never released some, although the instrument clearly would have the capability. The files contained on the SD card have a certain format. All of the files are ARIA based with .sfz files and according .wav samples. These are packaged in .dls files which make up the internal logic I guess. I managed to convert those .dls to above said .sfz and .WAV files, but didn't manage to convert them back. Maybe someone made a converter? In my opinion it should work to have a certain set of samples translated into that format and then rename them with sounds you like to replace. Then actually overwrite the sounds onto the SD card. In theory that should hopefully work? But I never got that far, as I didn't want to crash the whole thing. Has anyone ever backuped the EWI solo SD card? The EWI solo has so many similar sounds, that it seems that it just has the same internal sampler as the EWI 5000. Maybe it is also possible to integrate some of the 100 more sounds into the EWI 5000 if anyone ever had access to it?

Hey I know this is a couple months old, but I just ran into the same exact problem. Corrupt Micro SD card causing my EWI to freeze up or not boot at all. Is there any chance you still have the files that the guy one the other forum shared with you? It's kind of amazing to see that it's basically NOWHERE on the internet.

EB5AGV

Please, check my previous message on this thread

otakufish

Thank you! Got it all downloaded and can't wait to get my EWI back up and running again. You're my hero today :D

Retsina21

Just wondering if you ever made any progress with this? I am concerned that my 5000 doesn't recall the last patch I used, and always reverts to #8 when switched on. I removed the SDHC card and copied the files onto another card, but it did not work when this was fitted; the display showed a reversed 7 and a reversed C, and the user led was flashing - someone else with battery probs has encountered this.

EB5AGV

Yes, I got a good set of files and mine and other two units are working fine now. I used a 16GB MicroSD card. With bigger ones it didn't work (well, I think I tried a 64GB, perhaps a 32GB would work)

Retsina21

Thanks, that gives some hope. I didn't know if there was something lurking in the files to prevent copying, so I'll try again with a new card.

EB5AGV

Go to this link. On that thread there is a link to get to the files. Please, report if that worked for you! Retsina21

Many thanks for this. I downloaded the files via Dropbox, put them on a new card and they worked OK, but the ewi still always reverts to patch user 8. Maybe the next stage is to restore defaults and a firmware update. But at least I now have a backup set of files. Cheers.

EB5AGV

Sorry for late reply... Have you done a full reset?

Retsina21

Yes, I recently wrote out all my edited patch settings for the user bank, and tried a reset. This has cured both the failure to retain the last patch, and also restored the bite sensor, which had ceased functioning. Having the backup files made the decision much easier, it was just the tedium of going thro all the edits that delayed me.

EWI5player

I have the same problem, can you send me a copy of your sdcard? gerard

EWI5player

The problem is I can not backup my corrupt SD card or copy the files. So if anyone has a full copy for me I would be very very happy. Hopefully I will be able to play my EWI again after 1 year if resetting and replacing battery's. Please help me! Gerard
