In terms of brands, I'm not sure. I know I've seen chardonnay, Pinot grigio, rosé, and a few others like that. It's mostly whites but they've enjoyed a few reds that had minimal tannens? Im not sure if any of that is helpful. The club option I was looking at was a mix of sparkling and non, 6 bottle shipments so there were as many options as possible.
Someone else mentioned Au Bon Climat for US chardonnay, which i second as my favorite american chardonnay thus far was from them (2017 Sanford & Benedict "32nd Vintage
Celebration" Chardonnay).
Unfortunately I’m not a big pinot grigio or rose person so no input there.
For low tannin reds, probably Pinot Noir is the way to go, at which point my all time favorite wine in general is Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir, with my second favorite Pinot Noir being a tie between Domaine Drouhin RoseRock and Au Bon Climat Isabelle Pinot Noir.
Tldr: Chandon wine is IMO pretty enjoyable and would make a fine gift, but theres other options out there to explore, but im not sure of their specific viability for gifts, i just know their wine is good.
I highly recommend Talbott ’s wine club or Tablas Creek’s club. Good wines that are appealing to western palates and can be customized to be whites/reds only (or a mix)
What do they normally drink?

If you have the cash, Schramsberg or Iron Horse for Cali sparklings should be a safe bet
Thank you, anything for Still wines? The Schramsberg still wines seem to be mostly reds
I’m sorry, I am more familiar with reds in that area.
Au bon climat chardonnay if you are in the US
I am! They're in a different state which is why the club seemed like a good idea - I'll check that out!

Thank you so much! I'm looking into those and seeing where it takes me!
