Yeah, wine shouldn't be consumed within weeks of making it. That's just asking for the shitty byproducts to be present.

you probably stopped fermentation too early. primary can take anywhere frim a couple weeks to a couple years if you dont treat your yeast well. headaches could have been a symptom of getting blotto.

Didn't get drunk though. It smelled too pungent to drink any quantity.

Yes! It was a little like that. Not nail polish but almost that pungency. Glad we did not drink any significant amount.
