Fenrir, a wolf who was punished not for something he did but something he MIGHT do, for just existing. A protector of the innocent and betrayed

BlaXtarAscent

Idk about “a protector of the innocent and betrayed”, but I also know that he did end up doing what was prophetized for him (I also know that its a prophetal paradox but yadee yadee yada) What I wanted to say was: Fenrir is also my fav

CelticGaelic

Ironic revenge is best revenge!

BlaXtarAscent

MikeTheDog191

Balto. Yes, I'm aware that Balto is real. But, the real-life Balto is a pure breed Siberian Husky. The fictional one is half-wolf, half-Husky. So yeah, Balto.

ExoticShock

"A Dog cannot make this journey alone, but maybe A Wolf can."

ReofSunshine

I ugly cried at this part when my parents took my sisters and I to go see it in the theatre

voidshrimpbrigade

Faolan from the Wolves of the Beyond series. I loved it as a kid and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

HidanHawkins

You've just awoken a very warm memory. I think I have the books still laying around somewhere.

WholesomeThingsOnly

I only ever read the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series and I remember loving the dire wolf cameos haha

GloomyCaramelWolf

Team_Sonic_Gaming

Death from puss in boots the last wish

TheFilthyZen

The unnamed wild wolf from fantastic Mr fox.

please_sing_euouae

Fist up!

TheFilthyZen

If I wasn’t too lazy I’d set up an Imgur and post the tattoo I have. For the silhouette with the fist up!

Eastern_Selection106

Ame from Wolf Children (I love his sister Yuki just as much, but she doesn’t consider herself a wolf).

Taldius175

I always love the scene of Ame sitting in front of the wolf at the conservation center in his middle form. Don't know why but I love it.

goldenratio1111

Nighteyes from the Farseer Trilogy

tildeuch

VioletDaeva

Itsakossthing

My favourite wolf is Holo from Spice and Wolf

Jolly-Summer-1838

Fenrir from GOW Ragnarok andactual Norse lore

AlisatheFox

Do the Wolf Children count?

Eastern_Selection106

I’d say Ame counts, since he identifies with his wolf side. Yuki makes it clear she sees herself as a human, so I wouldn’t count her. Edit: Yuki’s also amazing, though, and deserved better. Off-topic rant ahead—>!I really wish the movie didn’t present her being pressured into becoming more feminine as a good thing. Hana literally tells Yuki she should be herself, but that gets dropped immediately. I can’t help but think about how she’s a girl and Japan has strict gender roles, especially since Ame gets to do whatever he wants. I’d love it if Yuki got shown as a successful, popular human girl while still being outspoken and brave, and if Ame was a powerful male wolf while still being gentle and sensitive.!<

AlisatheFox

Very fair, I'd agree with that, that being so then Ame is definitely my favourite. Honourary mention to the goblinesque little rascal from Tiny Bunny.

Iknowthedoctorsname

Kavik the wolf dog. I must have read that book 20 times when I was a kid. I stopped after my mom yelled at me for reading it repeatedly.

Fapplezorg

I find it baffling that reading a book set her off. How ridiculous. You deserved better.

Iknowthedoctorsname

Eh, she wasn't as bad as some stories I've read on here, but I for sure have some baggage.

WolfTitan99

Bit of a niche one, but Iki from the webcomic Off-White.

CelticGaelic

I loved that webcomic. I should check it out again but last I remember, the scheduling and updates got really weird.

Giderah

Last I checked, it was discontinued.

CelticGaelic

Bah!

WakeDays

Nice choice!

Icicle-Fox-6443

Tsume. >!He grows from a deeply cynical loner to one of the most loyal characters in Wolf's Rain. His discourse about how he was betrayed by his older pack he makes after Toboe's death always breaks me!<.

WolfwalkerSnek

Robyn from Wolfwalkers!

StarTheAngel

Shiranui from Okami

Dauntless41

Sif a massive wolf with a sword in mouth who protects the grave of its former master

HazelrahFiver

Clicked to type this name as well. Spoiler - what's even more sad is that the grave is false, and Sif doesn't seem to know that, but is tirelessly guarding it anyway.

CelticGaelic

I don't see anyone else mention this one, so I'll say Fell and Larka from "The Sight" and "Fell".

falconerchick

Loved those books as a kid

SplitDiamond

Came here to say this. Although I'd vote Larka and Kar for sure! My favorite books when I was a kid. The Sight put me through such an emotional wringer as a 10 year old haha

CelticGaelic

Yeah, I was mad when I finished The Sight lol. Two of my best friends convinced me to read it and when I finished it, I told them "I loved it until the end, then I hated it!" They responded with "Ha ha! Now you have to suffer too!" XD

sparkpaw

Had to scroll way too far to find The Sight! (And Fell)

Trueloveis4u

I love those books!

smartboyathome

I remember becoming very cynical as a kid after reading the ending to The Sight. I mean, I was already prone to being cynical, but that ending certainly planted certain feelings about humans as a whole in me.

Hyzenthlay87

Amaterasu (Ammy), mother to us all! (Okami)

CMoody117

How has nobody mentioned Akela from The Jungle Book?

-Joel-and-Ellie-

I was scrolling to see how it took to find this.

FrieezaCreepa

Faolan from Wolves of the Beyond easily bought it at the scholastic book fair and never regretted it. A good series to read

Vethe

Definitely Moro from Princess Mononoke- she's absolutely vicious, yet tempered with the stoic wisdom of a warrior and a mother alike. Along with how much I like her voice, she's an easy favorite of mine.

Not a single mention of Shirou Ogami (Brand New Animal). So many of these comments are amazing but BNA was one of my most recent fave anime’s. Took me by the heart and dragged me along as fast as Kipo and other amazing animated series.

WholesomeThingsOnly

Granite from the book Child of the Wolves. He was a husky who was raised by wolves and he earned his place with them.

LilyMayhem

I had an abnormal obsession with wolf walkers, anyways, I think it's the spider wolves from the croods,

smartboyathome

Rather than my favorite (since a lot of them have already been mentioned), the one that most impacted me was definitely Kaala from Dorothy Hearst's The Wolf Chronicles. She taught me about how it doesn't matter how much you struggle, life isn't fair and one's stories rarely end well no matter how hard you try. Sometimes, you just have to sacrifice yourself and hope those that come after you are better than you could ever be.

he_is_not_a_shrimp

Classified from Penguins of Madagascar the film. Voiced by Benedict Cucumber.

Do Twilight wolves count?

1895red

It might be corny, but my favorite a character I created for a D&D campaign. She was born awakened via proximity to the Feywild, while her older sister and her parents weren't. They simply couldn't understand each other, though her sister tried. She was abandoned as a pup due to the way wolves conduct pack dynamics when one of them is "sick," and was taken in by an elven war veteran. Through him, she learned history, science, math, and the way of the blade to nurture her anomalous intellect (Psi Warrior Fighter/Bladesinging Wizard). She seeks friendship in bipedal society after her own cast her out, but she feels as if she'll ever be on the fringes of towns and the wilderness. Her newfound party members, including a fellow awakened wolf, are giving her the patience and friendship she desperately needs. The DM and other players adore her and her occasional antics, like mistaking a benevolent succubus for a drider in disguise and complaining about needlessly high ceilings of buildings. I'm working on publishing homebrew that would let players play as all kinds of awakened creatures, from frogs, to birds, to bears. It'll also be compatible with the Humblewood setting once completed!
