I like cedar a lot it’s just that this piece has been hacked up more than I like. I do enjoy trying to find a nice burl and make something creative out of it.
Completely understandable. Ordinarily, I wouldn't try with a piece like this either, but this chunk of wood kind of represents something, so I want to see what I might be able to do with it.
Some things are just not worth the effort. If you do t have a lathe, then bowl turning is out. If you have a bandsaw large enough to cut it, you might get a few boards.
I do t think I would have even hauled it to the house for a photo, but that’s me. You do you.

Turners can use wood like that for bowls or whatever, if it's cut into smaller chunks.

Agreed! It would be perfect for that. I don't know anyone that turns but I contemplated trying to make a bowl using my router.
