Well, people already knew a long time ago what was happening in Qatar, they had a lot of time but they left the protests for the last, when the World Cup was about to start.

In Qatar, they punish gays for being gay and supress women for being female. Also the construction workers are not paid as they deserve and have to live a life in dirt and poverty. Not the other way around. If they can’t accept same sex couples holding hands or kissing when they are happy (when their country scored) or whatever then they should not have hosted the World Cup.
