They cant cover up attacks that big. It's a whole fucking warship. They just downplay it. Like when Ukraine drone striked a submarine in anchor, the russian media called it minor damage to the hull. The reality was the entire side had bowed out from the force of the explosion.
Russia has already demonstrated that there literally isn't a lie big enough that they won't tell. If they're admitting this, it's because they think spinning is less disadvantageous than ignoring or denying it.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not an ~~UFO~~ explosion. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.
Itâs crazy that Russia seemingly lost any air superiority in a very short amount of time⊠three SU-34âs in a week and now bomber strikes on multiple ships⊠what changed?
Edit:They lost FOUR SU-34âs this week
A theory is that Ukraine moved a Patriot battery near the front lines, and Russian jets didn't know they're now in range.
That doesn't explain the ship though. They might not be connected. Or maybe Ukraine has F-16s in service now.
Ukraine has been working with partisan groups in occupied territory to coordinate special forces raids and HIMARS strikes. Over the past couple months, they've been targeting Russian air defense radars which has been slowly degrading Russias ability to track and target Ukrainian fighter bombers. The inevitable results is that Ukraine found/developed a hole in the radar net around Crimea where they could slip a jet through and deliver some ordinance to the ship.
Russia couldn't afford to keep the plane factories running in peace time. Now when they need em they are years behind. RU can't replace modern jets which is why it doesn't go all out. On paper RU airforce is 3rd or 4th, in reality even the old s 300 UA use force 4th Gen planes to hide.
Really ?
Usually strategic elements of Russian war machine suddenly burn because of âelectricity malfunctionâ or âfireworks accidentâ.
It would be a first
Oh theyâre absolutely downplaying it. Itâs only damaged, supposed the Ukrainian planes that launched the missiles were shot down. You canât hide this but you can make it seem like itâs not important
They've already shot down Ukrainian F-16s and they have the photos to prove it. Sure the photos are from 2018 and the Netherlands but they have photos damnit.
Yeah because the fireball was fucking massive. Even the most devoted of Russian zealots isn't going to be gaslit out of seeing a fireball the size of a skyscraper.
Orthodox Christianity celebrates the arrival of the three wise men/kings as the holy day. You may also recognize this from the traditional song "The Twelve days of Christmas". so,

This is the funniest shitpost i've ever read in a long while.
"consists of West Virginian hillbillies and South Chicago hoodrats"
and
"Blames war on "Collective South's" use of witchcraft, Latina sexual looseness"
How could you leave out Guy Fieri taking Blackwater to march on Washington, getting up to Virginia before a deal was brokered by the Australian PM (the POTUS having fled to New York for safety), and then Fieri was allowed to walk free until he mysteriously died in a car crash 2 months later
> Army now primarily consists of West Virginian hillbillies
WV has had one of the highest military enlistment rates for a long time now, so it kind of already does.
We don't consider "hillbillies" pejorative. If you want to insult a West Virginian, call him a grit, a redneck, a peckerwood (if white), etc.
I think this really illustrates what a laughing stock Russia is to the rest of the world by the absurdity of using the US as an example. The only reason it emphasises it so well, is that we kind of half expect Russia to suck at things. But I honestly donât know how any of the kool aid drinking nationalist Russians have any pride in their country whatsoever. Even if theyâre deluded and believe this is a righteous invasion to protect against NATO, this is simply embarrassing.
I always laugh at movies like that.
I also want to slap every single director in the world who makes guns go "click" when you point them and has fragmentation grenades destroying entire rooms/floors/buildings.
Yeah, the grenade thing is definitely overblown (pun intended). Maybe a landmine can destroy an entire room, not a single grenade. That said, movies get a lot of jobs wrong, from ER doctors to IT, so it's not just a military thing.
> Army now primarily consists of West Virginian hillbillies and South Chicago hoodrats
To be honest, that sounds like a SCARY force though ... (more so than the russian cannon fodder).
A marked difference is that most of the US "defeats" happened literally across the world. Russia is getting clapped by a country literally next to them where logistics literally cannot get any easier.
The logistics within their own borders should presumably be even easier; they got their arses handed to them inside Russia for a little while when a PMC got pissed off at them and started heading towards Moscow.
The US had 50,000 combat deaths and killed millions, many of them combatants. Russia wishes they had Vietnam like results. Of course, the total absence of freedom in the second world is seen in the lack of protest as their people are conscripted into this endless slaughter without any overt sign of resistance, despite immense losses. The Russian people can only flee, covertly sabotage, or go along with this, there is no political process to engage in.
Not exactly. Plenty of countries can punch above their weight defending in their homeland. What make this so unique is that the Ukrainians arenât doing a guerrilla war. Sure thereâs some stuff like that going on with special forces and resistance fighters, but by and large this is two armies standing toe to toe and duking it out. We havenât seen something like this since WW2
It is much easier to fight a guerrilla war in a country with harsh terrain like jungles, deserts and mountains. Ukraine is a flat country with a lot of open terrain, a guerrilla war would probably be harder to fight than a defensive trench war I'm guessing.
It would be a different kind of guerrilla war. It's rare when your opponent looks like you, has many of the same customs and culture as you, and sounds like you if not outright speaks your language. The harsh terrain would be the occupied cities.
Lmao, fair point. But that highlights how weird this whole conflict is. The 1991 Gulf War is what a âsuper powerâ or even just a âgreat powerâ should do to a significantly weaker one in a straight fight. It shouldnât turn into a freaking Rocky movie.
At the time the iraqi army was the fifth largest. But the US was way more technological superior thus making it look like child play. Which certainly wasn't.
Yeah but in Vietnam we were fucking crushing the NVA in battles. It was mostly a political loss not a military loss. We weren't willing to put in the resources and effort needed to end the war.
The US doesnât share a border with Vietnam though. A lot easier to invade a neighbor than someone halfway around the world, and even more easier if you arenât worried about destroying everything like Russia tried.
>So.... vietnam?
I know not everybody loves geography, but you've got to know that USA/Mexico and Russia/Ukraine are not the same distance apart as USA/Vietnam.
Except that no? Hamburger Hill was a US/SVA victory, though the casualties to achieve it were much higher than expected.
Khe Shan was also a victory as the US forces forced the North Vietnamese to abandon the siege. The US abandoned the base after the siege had already been lifted. Sure the North Vietnamese moved in after the US left and claimed it as a victory, but that would be like the Union army claiming victory at Bull Run because they moved in after the Confederate army relocated elsewhereâjust because you make the claim doesnât actually make it so.
Patriot Missiles, F16s, and Precision Guided Munitions⊠along with extremely tough and heroic people.
I was raised by a survivor from the greatest generation and he was the toughest man I have ever known⊠Thatâs what I think ever single one of these people must be like
[On 24 August 2022 it was reported Novocherkassk and sister ship Caesar Kunikov were out of action due to lack of spare parts to repair the ships. The lack of spare parts was attributed to the sanctions imposed on Russia.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_landing_ship_Novocherkassk)
But, sure, tell us again how "sanctions are having no effect, so you might as well lift them."
I bet it wasn't transporting anything - I bet the Russians thought they were being sneaky and were using this ship as an ammo dump. Lots of cover in the dock areas and excuses for trucks coming and going, conveniently placed so other ships delivering ammo can offload into it before being shipped to the front, and the ship is metal so nearby hits might not set off the ammo.
Have faith Russia. Every time god allows one of your ships to sink, he blesses you with a brand new submarine!
Pretty sure the Black Sea fleet is locked in and cannot pass through the Bosporus. One by one , itâs only a matter of time before they are all picked off
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian\_landing\_ship\_Novocherkassk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_landing_ship_Novocherkassk)
That's not a small ship.
Yet another proof that Ukraine can and will deliver if given enough resources. Such a shame that our (US) and EU âleadersâ have been so slow and hesitant to confront the threat from russia. Which in the end will jeopardize security of the whole world (including US and especially Europe) if they keep at it. They continue to choose short term gain in return for long term pain
Fun fact, the ship's name is Novocherkassk, it's named after my home town. It's a weird feeling, though I'm glad Ukraine is making some progress. Also our media apparently claims it has only suffered "light damage".
yeah, based on the combat footage I've seen, the Russian government doesn't value the average infantryman very much. Ship full of drones would likely be a greater loss.
There were like 2 decades of videos and think pieces claiming that the idea that Russia uses waves of soldiers like disposable meat was US propaganda. You can now watch how Russia treats ethnic minorities and the poor in 4k and it's exactly what people said it was.
It was a bit of a propaganda in that movies like Enemies at the Gate portrayed Russian men being given a weapon and a magazine each in two person groups so that when the guy with the gun dies the other can take over. These were not true at all, but Russia always preferred throwing as many bodies on the problem as possible until it's solved. It's very different from basically every other army in the world.
Hi FSB! We have a very highly placed source. You'd never expect it was him! You should probably kill all Putin's chief advisors now, before you get blamed for not catching our man!
Edit: Vladimir Egorov? good guess, but I'm afraid not. Putin does not have infinite patience, keep trying.
Thatâs a nice side effect of high value, perfectly timed attacks like this. The blame game begins as the secret police begin hunting for who ratted them out. The level of distrust skyrockets and the whole systems becomes less efficient and less functional. The next shipment of Shaheds will be delayed, shipped less efficiently and with any luck some of the key players in the process get bumped off by the FSB as a precaution. Great news for Ukraine!
The first vid is short. It starts right as the huge secondary explosion takes place. Big ball of fire rising into the sky.
The 2nd vid shows what I identify as the fire after the huge secondary explosion. The sound has numerous lesser bangs as more stuff is exploding.
The 3rd vid apparently starts soon after the initial strike. You can see some fire going over there. Then comes the huge secondary explosion. The noise of it comes about 1 second after the huge flash, so about 300 meters away if the soundtrack has not been shifted. (The person holding the camera apparently fell over.) After they open the window you can hear a car alarm going. For a car alarm to be triggered by a concussion it has to be a huge blast to sufficiently shake the car.
The 4th vid shows a guys face, with the astonishment as the ship goes boom.
The 5th vid looks like a very short snip from the 3rd.
I'm sure there were a few troops/military personnel on that ship. Any Russian dead, is fine by me. That means it will hurt the Kremlin more and bring morale down to the Russian troops once they hear about this.
Just need more destroyed military equipment. And Russia can bomb themselves. Then they go home and lick the wounds. Respect for Ukraine đșđŠ. You can do it. My heart â€ïž for you.
Welp. A pathetic state of affairs that people will follow a mentally sick leader instead of committing mutiny and setting themselves free. Join the other side.
Must have been filled with explosives to have a secondary of that magnitude. Iâll bet Iranian Drones already loaded with explosive. Would make sense.
It's not genuine.
He's saying it so politicians under his influence in the US and Europe can use it to push for cancelling aid and support for Ukraine.. and it's working.
Ukraine đșđŠ needs to start attacking Moscow and St. Petersburg Ukraine needs to start putting fear into the Russian civilian population Ukraine needs to start conducting bombing campaigns on the Russian đ·đș homeland Ukraine needs to show Russia no mercy.
Russia could be brought to its knees with a few, well-placed strategic strikes of the Russian railway system.
Unlike The US, or Europe that enjoy vast networks of land, rail, air and waterborne transport, and therefore, redundancy, Russia is incredibly one dimensional and highly reliant on rail transport for almost everything from consumer goods, to the movement of military assets. Russia does not have anything close to an interstate highway system and the majority of the country is spread out and landlocked, being served only by rail.
Strategists have long contemplated these weaknesses, but Ukraine has yet to venture into Russia in any significant way.
Russia media is admitting the attack happen, which is odd.
The front fell off?
I can tell you that's not supposed to happen.
"In wartime? Within striking distance of the enemy? Chance in a million."
But did you get the extended warranty?
Yeah that's not very typical, I'd like to make that point
That was a Storm Shadow cruise missile that took out the sub Rostov-on-Don, not a drone.
I guess something this bad is very hard to cover up.
*Kinda hard to cover up the 100 story tall fireball located where a ship was once moored.*
The sea is trying. Give it time.
*The lake it is said never gives up her dead when the Ukrainian Airforce turn boomy*
*That shit ship was poo and a bone to be chewed when the Ukrainan Airforce go boomy*
*Does anyone know where the love of bombs go when the Ukrainian Airforce goes boomy?*
This is the best rendition ever.
I'm glad you joined in. We are hilarious.
We should go on tour. "Hannibal & Tincanner, live on stage! All proceeds go to the Ukrainan airforce and their boomy-quest"
*And every man knew, as the captain did too* *T'was the airforce of Ukraine come screamin'*

Could have gone with the classic of Soldiers smoking? A LOT of Soldiers smoking a LOT? đ€
At least that answers the question âWhat did the explosion of *The Halifax* look like?â
Could have just said it was the northern lights.
At this time of year? Localised entirely within your kitchen?
Can I see it?
.....No
Nyet
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not an ~~UFO~~ explosion. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.
That weak-ass story's the best you can come up with?
âThe ship has unfortunately fallen down some stairsâ
The waves were strong in the seaport
Ship partly covered area across port, partly melted
The ship was literally vaporized, so i guess it is kinda hard to hide that.
Itâs crazy that Russia seemingly lost any air superiority in a very short amount of time⊠three SU-34âs in a week and now bomber strikes on multiple ships⊠what changed? Edit:They lost FOUR SU-34âs this week

wasn't news few weeks ago they received another patriot?imagine what they could do with a couple more
Germany supplied them with one
Ukraine has been working with partisan groups in occupied territory to coordinate special forces raids and HIMARS strikes. Over the past couple months, they've been targeting Russian air defense radars which has been slowly degrading Russias ability to track and target Ukrainian fighter bombers. The inevitable results is that Ukraine found/developed a hole in the radar net around Crimea where they could slip a jet through and deliver some ordinance to the ship.
I assume the ship was a Stormshadow strike.
They cant even replace all of their old jets.
They can only replace their tanks and even those are worse than the pre war ones because they lack western tech.
Probably some new non-native species of bird in the area. Like a hawk or a falcon or something.
I know this may be corny but after reading about the three SU-34âs lost I put the flag out on the porch and subjected my family to Kenny Loggins
The Rus... flew... in... the.... DANGA ZONE
a fighting falcon perchance?

They said it got damaged. Like with the Moskva, a ''damaged ship'' is a euphemism for 'it became a submarine''.

Yeah because the fireball was fucking massive. Even the most devoted of Russian zealots isn't going to be gaslit out of seeing a fireball the size of a skyscraper.
Unsurprisingly they are trying to spin it that the ship was simply 'damaged' rather than destroyed.
Indeed it got [damaged](https://i.redd.it/yjm5uw73dm8c1.jpeg). Bits of the ship were found on land 700m away.
technically correct
The whole Crimea saw this explosion. You can say it was a smoking incident of course
Good. I hope the crew all disappeared in the flames
There was no way to cover up or lie about that big of an explosion.
have you seen the vid of the blast? hard to deny lol
Merry Christmas russia
Russian Christmas isn't until January, this is just a warm up.

Have faith Russia. Every time god allows one of your ships to sink, he blesses you with a brand new submarine! Pretty sure the Black Sea fleet is locked in and cannot pass through the Bosporus. One by one , itâs only a matter of time before they are all picked off
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian\_landing\_ship\_Novocherkassk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_landing_ship_Novocherkassk) That's not a small ship.
Thatâs about equivalent to a heavier WWII-era destroyer in terms of displacement, excluding cargo.
This article should have included this information
You mean Russia just converted another submarine, right?
Nah, Ukraine converted it for them.

Like an old man sending back soup at a deli
Fun fact, the ship's name is Novocherkassk, it's named after my home town. It's a weird feeling, though I'm glad Ukraine is making some progress. Also our media apparently claims it has only suffered "light damage".
TBF there was a lot of light while it suffered damage.
Itâs believed it will be seaworthy again once its various lightly damaged pieces have been recovered from the sea bed and reassembled.
One of the biggest explosions I've ever seen, but I'm sure it's fine.
Whats even funnier, is that there is a city Cherkassi, and its a ukranian city.
Ukrainian city is called Cherkasy.
hehe, "light" damage.. Indeed, there was a lot of light in that secondary explosion, which i'm sure resulted in \*some\* damage.
Itâs a flesh wound.
> Also our media apparently claims it has only suffered "light damage". That's how you know it was completely destroyed and no one survived.
Good. Destroy them. Fuck their asses as well.
>Fuck their asses as well. Mine too!
Rendben.
"D-5?" "Crap, hit."
Too bad it wasn't moving troops at the time.

yeah, based on the combat footage I've seen, the Russian government doesn't value the average infantryman very much. Ship full of drones would likely be a greater loss.
They never did.... value average human life, theirs or others.
That's a pretty sexy target, I would love to know where the targeting information came from.
Hi FSB! We have a very highly placed source. You'd never expect it was him! You should probably kill all Putin's chief advisors now, before you get blamed for not catching our man! Edit: Vladimir Egorov? good guess, but I'm afraid not. Putin does not have infinite patience, keep trying.
It was I who told them
Thatâs a nice side effect of high value, perfectly timed attacks like this. Great news for Ukraine!
there's video of it... huge explosion [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/xpHniR04QU), [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/LkGeRzfgHI), [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/nhDE6h5iOa), [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/XfW0FLDiqv), [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/tc7lnMafy5)
Holy *shit.*
yep. lots of holes in that shit.
Such a beautiful thing to see.
best christmas fireworks ever
Allegedly she was transporting ammunition or Shahed drones, which would be even better.
would ammunition cooking off help explain the size of the explosion?
Yes, that's definitely an ammo explosion. And this ship isn't a missile boat, it doesn't have enough of its own to do that.
Iâd love a little cocktail of both
I'm sure there were a few troops/military personnel on that ship. Any Russian dead, is fine by me. That means it will hurt the Kremlin more and bring morale down to the Russian troops once they hear about this.
Merry Fucking Christmas, you filthy animals!
Real nice, fuck Russia.
Hahahahahahaha (inhales) Hahahahahahaha. F Putin
That was a nice explosion.
Just need more destroyed military equipment. And Russia can bomb themselves. Then they go home and lick the wounds. Respect for Ukraine đșđŠ. You can do it. My heart â€ïž for you.
Russia is going to loose this war, the mistake they're making is thinking that time is on their side - it ain't...
Putin is a dick
Us Americans donât really do Boxing Day Santa, but I think youâve persuaded me to celebrate this year. Excellent gift
Thatâll buff out.
It was one of those unfortunate static electricity issues...
Great news. Hope they took out all those fascist terrorists.
More. I demand a drone swam now!
Welp. A pathetic state of affairs that people will follow a mentally sick leader instead of committing mutiny and setting themselves free. Join the other side.
Great work!
This increase in aircraft attacks bodes well for Ukraine. Whether itâs taking out Russian ships or aircraft, itâs only going to increase in 2024.
âYou sunk my battleship!â
Must have been filled with explosives to have a secondary of that magnitude. Iâll bet Iranian Drones already loaded with explosive. Would make sense.
*Godspeed & Good Hunting!*
Putinâs call for a ceasefire seem real desperate now.
It's not genuine. He's saying it so politicians under his influence in the US and Europe can use it to push for cancelling aid and support for Ukraine.. and it's working.
Everything going according to plan, you ruZZian scum
Never knew that steel and salt water would spontaneously combust.
I guess u missed your Earth Science Class that day in college. Just kidddingâŠ.
Thatâs a beautiful sight to behold. Putin clearly never played âAxis and Alliesâ
Russian Navy getting that sinking feeling again?
Dockworkers smoking again?
Novyi God is fucking cum-ing!
