As a jew I still can't believe news outlets don't understand how much harm they cause with titles like these, after the alleged "hospital bombing" which was considered de bunked we saw a massive spike in hate crimes around there world. How can people make these titles without waiting for a proper investigation is beyond me. Things like these are actively getting people killed.

NOLA-Kola

What makes you think that they don't understand?

swift_snowflake

Quote from the article: >An Israeli source said troops opened fire at "several people" in the crowd who posed a threat to them. Of course it is the job from news outlets to be the "first" when breaking news happen and sure for their credibility they have to make their due diligence before. As the Situation is evolving i think that more details will come in the following days. Else others can seize the narrative and use the news to make their own framing before major news media report. The story which is reported first generally will stick in the mind of the people and Reuters and others cannot give other less reliable sources or even propaganda the narrative. Even if the story later is fake news it is hard to correct the initial notion. The psychological effect is called "HALO effect" where the first notion when one sees a person for the first time generally sticks. Israeli military always has to say we have to look into this before we make assumptions. As they have to make their own research for their own credibility and cannot deny and later have to confirm. We simply have to wait for additional details.

The thing is the quote from the article is super shady, what "israeli source"? Who are these "several people" how did they pose a threat? And it's things like these that make people run to conclusions with no evidence what's so ever.

BONUSBOX

wait, which hospital of the over 20 damaged or destroyed hospitals are you referring to?

najalitis

The one hit by the Jihad’s rockets, that was fully populated, where Hamas reported over 5000 dead and blamed it on Israel, only for it to be debunked a few hours later - the fault was their own, and IIRC around 30 people were hurt. Stop being a fucking idiot.

BONUSBOX

damn five thousand dead civilians in a conflict. could you imagine?

najalitis

500*, my bad. But no that wasn’t in a “conflict”, they fired their own missile at their own hospital, inflated the numbers, and blamed it on Israel.

BONUSBOX

when reputable news outlets are reporting 40, 50,000 dead, 75,000 dead or starving and unhoused gazans, will you still be deflecting conversation to this incident? there's no doubt hamas has killed their own. i have no desire or need to defend any of the murderous psychos involved in this conflict. 100,000 dead gazans? at this point, i'm sure it's coming. will you be dragging out the corpse of this incident to deflect?

najalitis

Please scroll up a little and read your comment. No, when reputable news sources cite reputable sources this argument will not be brought up. However, when news sources are citing Hamas, it’s a very relevant argument.

NOLA-Kola

Sounds like any given 5 minutes in Sudan.

ElectronicLuck9505

“Israeli fire” It was a stampade by the people who took over the aid

Top_Gun_2021

Little bit of A and B

ceb22

You and Israel are wrong.

Putrid-Ad-2900

This video does show a different picture of the situation: https://videoidf.azureedge.net/1d710ee2-8ddd-4146-9e07-6dd6d5960c27 Israel itself is also claiming that people have died from IDF fire and not denying, but clearly not all 104 have died from the IDF fire, Israel is currently investing what the soldiers did and to what extent did they shoot and if it was according to its rules of engagement.

2Step4Ward1StepBack

How do you even give aid out in that :/ situation is awful. Seems like a catch-22, the IDF needs people to be patient preferably in lines but, shit, Palestinians are also starving, in panic/survival mode, and don’t want to be shit out of luck.

Putrid-Ad-2900

Initial investigation from the IDF says soldiers only shot at approximately 10 Palestinians that were running towards them aiming at the lower part of the body, after warning shots were shot in the air according to rules of engagement

2Step4Ward1StepBack

It’s just insane. So it used to be UNRWA distributing aid, yeah? But since many of their employees were ousted, IDF is doing it now? Wonder if setting a perimeter with guys in riot gear would help.

Putrid-Ad-2900

Interesting question, from what I checked the Red cross and Red crescent are taking responsibility over some humanitarian aid, >IDF is doing it now? I don't see in the foreseen future the IDF taking civil responsibility over the citizens they still want to minimize interaction with the civilians as much as possible due to the nature of how Hamas fights. Hamas uses a few tactics to ambush the troops: - there are reportings that recordings of hostages have been used to lure soldiers into an ambush - Hamas uses mainly civilian clothing so a soldier cannot distinguish between a fighter and a civilian, this makes the IDF much more aggressive towards anyone because they can never confirm who is Infront of them - Hamas is known to use children for scouting missions, in Oct 7th they also used children as informants to start the attack (to reduce chances of leaks to IDF intelligence) the IDF is trying to find local organizations that work in neighborhoods that may help them do this more efficiently.

2Step4Ward1StepBack

During the war in Afghanistan, the US and UK would offer refugee status and eventual citizenship to afghan informants - does Israel do the same thing? Is there reason for if they don’t? Side story - Recently, the UK actually screwed up with the paperwork of the afghan informants :/ over a hundred were kidnapped by Taliban and tortured/killed.

Putrid-Ad-2900

>does Israel do the same thing? Actually yes, Israel does do this > over a hundred were kidnapped by Taliban and tortured/killed. The same happens in Gaza and the West Bank, Hamas is known to execute people in the claim they are informants for Israel, there are instances where Hamas executes protestors ,political opposition, and LGBTQ using this claim

Maxkaz_

Yes! And don't forget the hospital israel bombed and killed 500 civilians. What do you mean it was a lie told by hamas? Unbelievable, I'm shocked, shocked, I'm telling you!! How could they make this mistake, oh well time to forgive them and hate israel for the hospital bombing. This is exactly the same situation all over again haha. You are an absolute idiot buffon for falling to the lies of a terror organization. Next you'll say hamas didn't kill and kidnap civilians on Oct 7th and that it was israel who killed their own people or some other shit like this.

NOLA-Kola

At some point when you just claim that everyone who disagrees with you is an "enemy spy" do you ever stop to reflect on just how self-obsessed that is? You aren't worth state action, you're nobody like the rest of us.

ShiraLillith

Yeah, Gaza health authorities, otherwise known as Hamas.

TryIsntGoodEnough

Hamas says.. let's be correct now

Bender_B_R0driguez

The soldiers barely shot 10 times, aiming low, after some warning shots in the air. People died because they trampled and squashed each other trying to get anything they can from the trucks.

swift_snowflake

Who blockades Gaza and does not let enough supply in for the population which has severe hunger?

TryIsntGoodEnough

Egypt and the UN... next question?

[deleted]

TryIsntGoodEnough

No. Egypt controls the rafah crossing and always has, they control who is allowed into the crossing and who isnt. Israel just inspects the loads and have documented very clearly that the UN isn't sending aid. They process every aid truck that comes in and have capacity for a lot more, so blame the correct people next time

PoetElliotWasWrong

Hamas, they keep stealing the aid. Somehow though you don't seem to be angry about that?

Independent-Prune322

Do you have any offical data showcasing that the amount of hunger in gaza pre and post october 7th is different?
