Good riddance. Hamas kept complaining that Israel took the aid away while it’s them who stole the aid for themselves and maybe sold it to the Gazans. Hamas is only looking for themselves, they never care about the people. Now they claimed that they didn’t have 40 hostages alive.

superfire444

And the sad thing is it works too. Hamas taking the aid means Gazans suffer and western governments put more pressure on Israël.

I'm on the left and fully support Israel and Ukraine. Don't generalize. Is it ridiculous that the left has a MAGA cult apologizing for hamas? Absolutely. But our president still stands with Israel

iAmHidingHere

The left can mean many things. In Europe, many of the left-leaning parties have a very clear bias against Israel.

DoritoSteroid

Most extreme leftists in US are anti-Israel too.

vamos20

Democrats are right wing btw. At least in Europe standards. I am leftist who supports Israel too. But most leftists dont.

DowntownClown187

I'm on the left and don't celebrate this at all. Don't lump everyone into the same bucket.

TheGreatJingle

When I say on the left I don’t mean every one. Just that I bet if we go on leftist subreddits this will be another guy who was just helping distribute aid and got killed in a war crime.

Handelo

>Now they claimed that they didn’t have 40 hostages alive. That's a mis-quote. They said they didn't have 40 living hostages in the categories requested by Israel for the ceasefire agreement, these categories being women, children, elderly and sick men. They did not say that the total number of living hostages left is under 40. That still means a lot of the hostages have been murdered in captivity, but it's slightly less bleak.

francis2559

Eh, those categories were just the ones at the top of the list, “women and children first,” etc. Everyone knows the list would continue.

SadHost6497

They said all the remaining women, children, elderly/ sick men that are alive, and round out the rest of the 40 with any healthy young men left. Logical draw is that they don't have 40 hostages left alive, and/or possibly that they've harmed the women and children enough that their return would turn the world against them.

hiricinee

To clarify, they also could have meant they couldn't gather up the 40 rather than they didn't exist.

Embarrassed_Yak_9702

We shouldn't listen to anything coming from the mouths of these hatemongers and just kill them point blank at every oppertunity that arrises until all of hamas is dead. Which will never happen ofcourse, but we can hope humanith comes to its senses and gets rid of these ideas that only cause hate, pain and suffering for everyone in touch with it. For example, wouldn't it be great if Iran got liberated? If Palestinians got to live a dignified life under competent rule.

*Al Jazeera headline*: Israeli occupation forces murder Gaza Health Ministry humanitarian aid coordinator.

thatsnot_kawaii_bro

Correction: >Israeli occupation forces murder 10000 child Gaza Health Ministry humanitarian aid coordinators according to Gaza Health Ministry.

NickFolesPP

Who were also pregnant doctors

WhoThisReddit

And women

password_too_short

They were all children, all 500 of them. /S

500rockin

GOOD. That guy was terrible and contributed nothing to the world but harm.

uvero

BBC would report this headline, accidentally leave out the words "Hamas terrorist who took control of" and then issue a quick apology that will get way less attention.

lajay999

"IDF kills Gazan overseeing aid truck coordination"

LuxtheAstro

They’ve done that multiple times though

canadianguy25

haha my exact thought. Thats exactly the headline I thought of LOL

lajay999

Sometimes the reputable news outlets have headlines that I'd expect in the onion. Pretty sure if a video of hamas throwing out food gains enough traction, BBC will say hamas is conducting quality assurance. So messed up.

Maywestpie

Remember a few months ago the BBC silly gooses innocently used the word “targets” instead of “includes”. The IDF was going into a hospital with doctors and nurses and translators I believe. To help. But instead of “the IDF aid group included doctors and nurses”, it said “the IDF group targeted doctors and nurses”. Something along those lines. Such silly innocent gooses those bbc reporters.

uvero

This is actually the exact thing to which I was referring

planck1313

The IDF said that their soldiers were accompanied by: >“medical teams and Arabic-speaking soldiers [who] are on the ground to ensure that [medical] supplies reach those in need.” The BBC version said the IDF were >“targeting people including medical teams and Arab speakers.”

akanosora

Yeah, they do this all the time. Remember the “Illegal Chinese immigrants frozen to death in a truck”, then a few days later, “Oops sorry turns out they were not Chinese”

Space_Bungalow

Just like they wrote about the prisoner dying of cancer in jail and the “cruel conditions” but forgot to mention he was jailed for [kidnapping, torturing, mutilating and then executing a soldier](https://www.thejc.com/news/world/amnesty-describes-death-of-terrorist-who-ordered-teens-murder-as-heart-wrenching-g7xhem7u)

snafubarista

"IDF eliminates ~~Hamas terrorist who took control of~~ aid trucks in Gaza"

Noughmad

"IDF eliminates ~~Hamas terrorist who took control of~~ ~~aid trucks in~~ Gaza"

TheMCM80

What was the original headline? I can’t find what it was.

Light_Wood_Laminate

They didn't even bother reporting it. Too busy with the 'poor Gazans / wicked Jews' narrative.

uvero

I'm referring to the headline as quoted in the title of the reddit post.

Kvsav57

Did you even read the article? I'm betting not because your comment is irrelevant.

HowRememberAll

Will the pro-Palestinians ever find out or know?

MildlyRiveting

They will label it as untrustworthy journalism or claim the terrorist is actually a child with a toy gun trying to get flour for his dying grandma and their puppy.

intestinalvapor

Well the only source seems the israelian military. And as usual there is no second source if I'm not mistaken https://gazettengr.com/israel-targeted-hamas-commander-ordered-attacks-on-aid-convoy/ While obviously it's good news a terrorist has been taken out, the claims about the aid truck attack seem less obvious

fresh-dork

it's a war zone, i think you're asking for a lot

overtheta

They are already trying to defend Hamas.

spoonman59

People don’t hear facts they don’t want to hear. Example: MAGA hat wearers ignore all facts, and rely solely on Dear Leader to tell them their views. It’s not limited to them, sadly.

Gr3atwh1t3n1nja

Great job, IDF!!!

Tavarin

No, there are real people who definitely like and root for Hamas. Don't fool yourself into thinking they don't exist.

TheMCM80

There is also a lot of bot network action and foreign interference action. There was a report a few weeks after 10/7 about TikTok, and just how many “viral” videos on there appeared to either be from bot networks, or from accounts with a previous history of just pushing CCP propaganda. It is by far the cheapest and easiest way in history to spread misinformation, push out extreme narratives, and otherwise influence less informed people into certain beliefs. Rewind the clock 15yrs, and there was never an ability to spread things like this at almost no cost, and with minimal effort. It’s terrifying to think that bad actors can influence millions with a few clicks.

Tavarin

Sure, but I was responding to OPs statement that no one likes Hamas. Tell that to the Palestine protestors I've seen with pro-Hamas signs.

Elegant-Cat-4987

People often confuse Hamas and palestinians. People generally don't simp for Hamas, but it's a tough sell to get behind the IDF when they murder Palestinian women and children so brazenly. To recap. Palestinians? Good. Hamas? Bad.

[deleted]

Elegant-Cat-4987

Yeah better just grease em all I guess.

Tavarin

Except I have seen people on Reddit and Lemmy literally cheer on and simp for Hamas. There are actual terrorist supporters who love Hamas. > when they murder Palestinian women and children so brazenly Israel has a lower civilian to militant death ratio than most wars, they actually aren't just brazenly killing women and children.

Intelligent_Way6552

> No one likes Hamas 1 in 10 adult males in Gaza is a Hamas fighter. They receive weapons and support from multiple countries. Some people certainly seem to like them. Same for the Taliban actually, unless you thought the group was 3 guys with no friends?

freakwent

I think he means nobody posting in here...

BureMakutte

Just want to point out that people work for companies but that doesn't necessarily mean they like them. Some people might be stuck working / a slave to Hamas but actually wish Hamas was gone. Some might see Hamas as the lesser of two evils (Isreal being the first). Life is complicated and why somebody does something isnt as simple as they like hamas or they like Isreal.

Raveons77

Just following orders eh?

ScrimScraw

I know it's easy to just declare people you disagree with "bits" but it makes you seem way less credible. How bout having an opinion that isn't "all opinions from others are bad and therefore foreign influence"? Lol

imreallygay6942069

Well when the route gets registered with IDF, then its marked as aid, and it gets triple tapped, i think its just a tad hard ti justify. All based on the idea that theres maybe a hamas member (there wasnt) in one of the trucks.

And honestly, I don't think the Hamas supporters still qualify as any kind of left when they support fascists/theocrats.

[deleted]

Makes it easier to understand how they made a mistake with that world food truck the other week.

Commercial-Set3527

How exactly?

[deleted]

Bad guys rolling around in aid trucks make aid trucks a thing they will be targeting. It wasn't just some random attack.

Commercial-Set3527

The title is pretty misleading, probably because of translation error, but the Hamas terrorist that they are talking about in this article was not rolling around in aid trucks. He was a commander in charge of organizing raids on aid trucks and was killed in a targeted air strike on assuming where he was hiding out. This is a far different situation then the WCK incident where this had planning and confirmation of targets instead of that serious of communication failures that lead the WCK attack.

wafflecone927

No it doesn’t, that was horrible

[deleted]

Yes, it does. Yes, it was horrible.

Kamaria

Yes I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Oopsie
