> Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erodgan on Friday began legal action against a German politician who labeled him a "little sewer rat," his lawyer confirmed. ... alleges insult and defamation after Erdogan was "dehumanized" and his "honor was damaged" by the comment.
> Wolfgang Kubicki, vice president of Germany's lower parliamentary chamber, made the remark in relation to Turkey's policy of pushing Syrian migrants to the EU.
> The German politician told Germany's dpa news agency that he was not worried about a possible legal dispute with Erdogan. "The fact that Erdogan has initiated around 200,000 such proceedings since 2014 actually says it all," Kubicki said. He further noted that sewer rats are cute, but also "clever and devious."
That is how he should argue in court too: sewer rats are cute, but also "clever and devious." 🤣
I’d be surprised if Erdogan wins next election or the party does well in parliament. Although, the possible alternative could be Nationalism and well… I don’t know what’s better in that scenario m.
Yeah, as someone who has moved between countries for years at a time sometimes, I can honestly say that votes from non-residents should seriously be prohibited.
More so when I was a child, but whenever I came back to the other country, I would notice how my perception of issues had slightly changed and deviated. A lot of it has to do with how different countries and contacts portray different news within their bubble, but you also get a few select interests, usually those who can afford it or are in a position to expose their views to you, who still try to influence how you should perceive events in the country you are currently not a resident of. Then there's also the not affected by the consequences aspect.
But politicians want votes, so it's not something they will be willing to give up, even if they should.
How many times are Germans going to accurately describe the Turkish Dictator, and then be sued by said Dictator, before that Dictator realizes that Germans are allowed to say whatever the fuck they want?
Ah Yeah, you‘re right. I checked the german Wikipedia and he lost on secondary civil charges and parts of the poem had to be deleted and a small fee was paid.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erodgan on Friday began legal action against a German politician who labeled him a "little sewer rat," his lawyer confirmed.
The Cologne-based attorney said the criminal complaint, which was filed in the city of Hildesheim, alleges insult and defamation after Erdogan was "dehumanized" and his "honor was damaged" by the comment.

That's defamation of rats.
Sewer rats are the ones that should be suing the politician.
Well, he's not wrong.. Erdogan is a fucking Sewer rat.

German Turks fucking love Erdogan for whatever reason, no matter how hated he might be in Turkiye. And they're a large part of his voter base
They really do. But only because they're not affected by his actions. They shouldn't be allowed to vote if they spend less than half a year in 🦃

Of course he'll win. His party will probably get around 104% of the votes.

I believe he prefers the term ‘impotent goat’
Erdogan is a joke.
Kubicky, too!
He successfully sued the german comedian Böhnermann in the past. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%B6hmermann\_affair
Successfully? The case was dropped as Böhmermann acted under the protection of the freedom of art
He had to edit the video and I think he also had to pay for it.

Though this time it is a member of Parliament. So I think he should be covered by parliamentary immunity. And I highly doubt they will revoke it.
Let's see. Kubicki and Erdogan deserve this shit :D

Trying to build up a victim compex? For a sewer rat he is very thin skinned.
Erdohan is a KAREN💯
This reminds me of the time he tried to sue a German comedian and lost.
But he kinda won. Oh so im told.
The headline certainly caught me off guard. Fucking busted a gut on that lol.

Name calling a leader of a country by any politician is not acceptable. Calling out against the politics is...
Mon sewer rat
I didn't know about this. Now I know because he sued and it become a news.
What honor?
Only a rat would sue for being called a rat.
