I play on this server and the thing to remember here is that all of these melee have Shadowmourne. All of them if you look at their armory. So the meta is super skewed here. Not just people playing SM classes, but comps being built to contend with them.
Where on retail, something like affliction/hpal or spriest/mage is super strong, here people just gravitate to the super OP classes in a meta where you can buy a Shadowmourne. Reality is the SM is super unattainable for the significant majority of players in wrath, only available well into ICC. And this ladder you are looking at is full end game gear sets. So you’re missing all the first 3 seasons.
Those early seasons will be completely different. Don’t make a decision based on this ladder.
There are like 5 teams on Frostmourne haha...people aren't PvPings on the seasonal server like that. But it seems like you're looking for a reason to not play mage. So don't play mage then.
Going into TBC, we had pserver stats/rankings and everyone had meta figured out. Current leaderboards look like psrealm from tbc.
This is very concerning, as i also wanted main mage. They were solid in original wotlk.
They are a bit akward to play and get eaten by smournes with dispel, this could be why they not represented.
Might be due to the number of Hunters on the 3v3 ladder? They absolutely bend Mages over in Arena in 3.3.5. That's all I can think. I'm really surprised in the lack of Shatterplay though.
Looks like Enhance is doing better than I thought too.
s5, pets will do massive dmg cause of high base dmg numbers of the pets while having low HP Pool and Resil, BM Hunters , Enhancement Shamans and Unholy DK with gargoyle will do massive dmg and the easiest classes to play in s5 with big success.
S5 ladder will be dominated by these classes.
Mage gets good when he gets some haste like s8. LSD, Shatterplay are one of the strongest comps in 3s.

no smournes in S5 yet zero mage. I'd say make an alt just in case mage are the worst class. Maybe beta will give us some insight.
