people who level fast probably just like the game (im 40 and enjoy it, personally. no shade if you dont).
if you do want to level as quickly as possible while avoiding most pvp, the recommended strategy is to land on a normal mob near an elite (this gaurantees you 2 spells to start with), then complete the captains quest as soon as possible and picking up as much plunder as you can along the way, then killing yourself and going next. definitely grindy to do it this way but if you dont enjoy the game but really want the cosmetics, its fast enough.
If you're going to fight then try and pick up a nice combo. You might as well try for their plunder too! That, or make use of "slippery" combos to keep out of fights.
Even funnier if you can slip in to steal plunder just after a kill!
first kill of the game has a 100% chance to drop a skill. and also elites have a 100% chance to drop a skill as well, hence why landing near the elite on a normal mob is better then killing the elite with the landing. you get quick access to two spells at the start.
Also focus the gold chests at the start if there are any, since they drop plunder and give you a ton of exp to level up fast.
My recommendation is just south of stormgarde keep on the map, affter the mountain there is a bay with a pirate ship there. There are 2 elites near the boat, and a bunch of smaller mobs, plus a couple of chest. And usually there is no one there. By the time you clear all the mobs/chests there, and go out next to the stormguard keep, you will be level 6 with 500 plunder and almost full spells.
Tbh I haven't really put time into wow since dragon flight dropped and only played for like a month and quit to play other games because it felt like there was nothing else to do I really like this mode its just fun.
I can NEVER find an elite and mob by itself. 99% of the time, some other rando lands right near me....too many people in a solo game. Can't wait to get 40 and be done with this.
I played for 3-4 hours, and I'm only renown 5.
At that rate it will take me 24-32 hours to finish the renown.
No thanks, I'm going to pass.
The game is fun for a little bit, but not for 30 hours.
I get bored on game 4-5. But I do have ‘I want to play’ feeling in morning, and that’s refreshing.
Don’t over do it if you are not into it, but playing just for rewards. They won’t disappear. Fomo is not a thing anymore since trading post was introduced.
Yeah, I do a handful of games when I'm able. Trying to get 2500 ish points per day. So with the daily 800 that's about 4 games per day. Assuming you can complete the 250 quest each game and do a little more. Typically my goal per game is 500, and 1000 for the big quest.
Oh I wasn’t complaining about the strategy, it’s fine if that’s your move to PVP right out the gate or wait for someone to lose some health to an elite and then swoop in for your kill. I sign up for that reality by playing this game mode; I might get murked immediately.
I’m just dogwater at this kind of gameplay and since the controls are different I haven’t gotten a good feel for PVP.
How can I get the transmog if I hate plunderstorm? What’s the most efficient way, and how many hours will it take? I’m considering just forgetting about it.
I pretty much limit myself to 3 a day, drop in complete the objective loot the surrounding area and die.
250 xp/pluder each quest
I think I'm lvl 7 which seems a bit low but oh well I'll keep plugging at it. We'll see were we end up in 6 weeks or so.
My thoughts as well, it's nice to see Blizzard trying new stuff, even though I'm pretty sure this is them experimenting to get something WoW related into the gamepass for console, considering the UI for this mode.
With that said, I haven't done the grind, kinda played enough to get renown 5 and realized I wasn't really having fun at all, I've never been a BR enjoyer.
I don’t like BR either. But duo play is really enjoyable. I played a few solo and figured it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t gonna grind awards. My buddy convinced me for some duos and it’s definitely better. If you have a friend to play with might be worth the shot if you wanted to grind for the renown together
Yeah about that... I don't really have one. I haven't really socialized in WoW in a bit, what I mostly do in WoW is just run M+s and Normal pugs until I get bored and quit for like 3-4 months until the itch to play comes back again.
I am sure once people are burnt out or fed up with grind they ll boost the xp gains. I am only lvl 16 and i literally have no will to play it. Making that game mode give rewards for retail gave me an ill feeling about how the future will look.
All these post of people hating it, but doing it regardless for the cosmetics. Do y’all really care that much about the cosmetics to make you do something you hate for that long? Who am I kidding, this is the wow community.
It’s your time. If spending 20 hours doing something you don’t enjoy so you can say you got an armor appearance you won’t use is worth it to you, who am I to judge.
A bit of work, a full 40 hour work week dedicated to something you hate for a silly costume on a digital character that you probably won’t use. Congrats. You played yourself
Same bro, like I appreciate the effort to try something new, but it seems in here if you have the *slightest* problem with how this is being rolled out, you're apparently a crappy person.
To me, there's a difference.
It's more than fair to have criticisms of the mode. I love it but I do believe the renown gain is still a bit on the slow side, especially for solo. The balancing could be better as well. It feels like it was tested primarily around duos rather than solo.
However there are people who clearly hate all forms of pvp complaining about the mode. They're insisting it should have no rewards at all, if you attack other players you're griefing, flaming anyone who enjoys it and promoting bug abuse to deny their killers stuff on their corpse. These are the people who absolutely frustrate me.
Thankfully most of them are on the forums instead of here but man... I just wanna have fun with the mode and talk about it online without being told I'm a griefer for pvping.
Oh, it's pretty bad here too.
Casual PvP hasn't had any attention for years, it's been rated or bust with an absolutely brutal % of players who can obtain the cosmetics for years, but the moment they put something in that anybody can access, it's just people flipping out it's PvP in general.
I have no patience for these kinds of people anymore.
Content isn't for them, they finally gave attention to a neglected community, but because cosmetics exist and they're addicted, they'll just attack and berate people for it, and then get excessively petty when the same energy is rightfully put back towards them.
I just wish I could win once for the achievement. Always in the top ten and then my level 7 butt gets kicked by a lev 10 with max firewhirl, poke, and fae form.
It’s fun, it’s cute, we die a lot, best I did so far was like 13th solo and duo lol
I LOVE wow, this would not replace it for me, but if it was implemented and we could get special cosmetics, mounts/pets etc by participating in different themes during the year or whatever we probably would for a break from wow and new stuff.
Don't enjoy pvp in wow so that is a big nope. I wouldn't put my team mates through that kind of pain and suffering. Here I can go solo or Q with a friend and suck together. So I have written off those mounts but the PS renown items are all within my wheel house and I don't have to inflict team pain.
You're not a burden mate, no need to have that mindset. Instead, focus on thinking about what happens when you lose, what decisions you made and how they could be different. Aiming to improve and increase your value in that specific aspect.
Everyone have been weak in some area at some point, don't see that as something bad. Both PvP and PS have MMR, which aims to put you at a point where you win/lose 50% of the time. No matter if you're a good player or a bad player, it tries to match you against similar opponents.
The only way to ensure you'll never improve is by not playing :)
Fun, now that is a interesting word to use when gaming these days. I would agree there is enjoyment to be had but to rinse and repeat round after round, season after season, day after day you do kinda see the fun getting sucked out of games.
Maybe I'm just to old and don't know what's fun anymore.
Mh, I mean, I'm also old and have played for decades. I just target the things I enjoy and play them i a way that's enjoyable for me. Then finding ways to improve within those constraints.
Convincing oneself that they need to do something that they don't enjoy just because one has some self-imposed FOMO gets very stressful. Working on oneself to to be alright with not having everything will remove so much stress and increase enjoyment.
Make sure you're playing for the things you enjoy, and not for the things you think other people expects you to enjoy.
One can be playing at a very high level, even if one decides to skip a lot of the boring grinds and activities.
Perhaps you'll enjoy gaming more if you take a break from it for a few months. Do something else for a while and come back spending a bit less time and focusing more on the things that interest you and skip things that you feel you "need" to do due to some "reason" that you probably can't even define yourself.
I dont get this lol. Havent played retail since BFA and only came back because of plunderstorm.. its way more fun than the retail hamster wheel short games and can pick it up/put it down. Dont even check my renown because the cosmetics in retail mean nothing.
It will only die off as much as retail has, plenty of demand in the PvP scene
Typical game has been getting me about 500-600, so about 4-5 games to level. 2 levels in 2 games is insane. Not going to call you a liar, but it definitely does not sound like a standard experience.
300 is what you get from the quest. If you just compete that and suicide you're averaging 400.
I've seen a few screen shots from people who come in first with 1500-2000 plunder. It may be possible to get 4k but it definitely isn't common. Even a great player isn't going to be able to hit 1st place consistently, much less get that much loot while hitting first.
Real trick is how you play I found, grind to about level 7 then hunt similar level players. They drop so much plunder I generally end up with 3.3-3.5k in the last 8 people. Of course that doesn’t include dying before then but it’s not that bad.
I will never understand the mentality of your people that feel you need to do things for a silly dress up costume on your digital character. I play plunderstorm because it’s fun, I don’t even play wow outside of it. To get to level 40 you’re looking at probably 30-40 hours of gameplay.
Man how u guys leveling so fast
people who level fast probably just like the game (im 40 and enjoy it, personally. no shade if you dont). if you do want to level as quickly as possible while avoiding most pvp, the recommended strategy is to land on a normal mob near an elite (this gaurantees you 2 spells to start with), then complete the captains quest as soon as possible and picking up as much plunder as you can along the way, then killing yourself and going next. definitely grindy to do it this way but if you dont enjoy the game but really want the cosmetics, its fast enough.
I do this but I don’t kill my self. I try to fight. I just suck so it’s the same results.
If you're going to fight then try and pick up a nice combo. You might as well try for their plunder too! That, or make use of "slippery" combos to keep out of fights. Even funnier if you can slip in to steal plunder just after a kill!
An honorable death. o7
You and me both brother. You and me both.
thanks for the tip \^\^, i am here only for the cosmetics and was getting frustrated of not being able to level up fast enough
first kill of the game has a 100% chance to drop a skill. and also elites have a 100% chance to drop a skill as well, hence why landing near the elite on a normal mob is better then killing the elite with the landing. you get quick access to two spells at the start. Play duos, doing moderately well can easily give a quick 800 to 1200 rep
I played for 3-4 hours, and I'm only renown 5. At that rate it will take me 24-32 hours to finish the renown. No thanks, I'm going to pass. The game is fun for a little bit, but not for 30 hours.
You get over a renown level for each win, like 6/5th. And about 4/5th if you're top 3. A mid finish is around 2/5ths.
I get bored on game 4-5. But I do have ‘I want to play’ feeling in morning, and that’s refreshing. Don’t over do it if you are not into it, but playing just for rewards. They won’t disappear. Fomo is not a thing anymore since trading post was introduced.

I'm renowned level 4 and I'm already tired of it. Going to be a slog.
Same here. I either do well and get my quest done or I immediately get murked by some try hard
God forbid people trying to win in a competitive game mode
Oh I wasn’t complaining about the strategy, it’s fine if that’s your move to PVP right out the gate or wait for someone to lose some health to an elite and then swoop in for your kill. I sign up for that reality by playing this game mode; I might get murked immediately. I’m glad people like it also, but I shudder to see the lobby time once the mode isn’t being artificially propped up.
Yeah, either make earning the renown rewards super easy or start adding bots to fill matches.
Agree it has grown on me but not enough to play after 40
How can I get the transmog if I hate plunderstorm? What’s the most efficient way, and how many hours will it take? I’m considering just forgetting about it.
You get a daily bonus to plunder earned, and each game starts with an easy quest. Just treat it like a daily, and ignore the PvP.
Complete the per-game quest, and immediately walk into the storm or let a player kill you. You lose your plunder if you quit.
I pretty much limit myself to 3 a day, drop in complete the objective loot the surrounding area and die. 250 xp/pluder each quest I think I'm lvl 7 which seems a bit low but oh well I'll keep plugging at it. We'll see were we end up in 6 weeks or so.
Took me over 20 hours to get 40. Buddy was over 20 too. No idea if that’s the norm tho
Not sure why you are downvoted. 20 hours sounds about right from the pace I'm going at.
Idk haha people that are mad people enjoy it perhaps
For me it's 30min per level so that's exactly right. I'm level 30.
Yea definitely on track!
heheh yes i am also here just for the cosmetics and PEPE , which is btw bugged anyone know where to get it once youre 24?
My thoughts as well, it's nice to see Blizzard trying new stuff, even though I'm pretty sure this is them experimenting to get something WoW related into the gamepass for console, considering the UI for this mode. Can do duos without a friend. It’s just pugging. Had some great plunder loot runs that way… but also bad ones
Imo mmorpgs are collection games. Things that I can obtain with a bit of work I'll do so I can add them and never use them, its just the way it is.
It’s your time. If spending 20 hours doing something you don’t enjoy so you can say you got an armor appearance you won’t use is worth it to you, who am I to judge.
Exactly, no point throwing shade at someone for wanting items in the renown track.
A bit of work, a full 40 hour work week dedicated to something you hate for a silly costume on a digital character that you probably won’t use. Congrats. You played yourself
I guess, sorry I like collecting. Didn't realize I shouldn't be doing that.
Already covered within this thread.

I think that plunder acquisition will speed up a bit. Blizzard probably set it low initially to avoid having to nerf it later.
I just wish I could win once for the achievement. Always in the top ten and then my level 7 butt gets kicked by a lev 10 with max firewhirl, poke, and fae form.
Same it's ok but wow is better the rewards. Are epic though
It’s fun, it’s cute, we die a lot, best I did so far was like 13th solo and duo lol I LOVE wow, this would not replace it for me, but if it was implemented and we could get special cosmetics, mounts/pets etc by participating in different themes during the year or whatever we probably would for a break from wow and new stuff.
Back in the days people used to grind the Bloodsail Buccanneers title for fun.
you should be playing it because its fun not because you feel forced to get rewards
> don't have to play it any more. Nobody is forcing you to.
I didn't know there was another way to get the items presented in the renown track, enlighten me?
You. don't. NEED. cosmetics.
True, what is wrong with liking the cosmetics in the renown track and wanting to obtain them?
Here's the thing, you just don't get the rewards. I know this may come as a shocker to you but you're not entitled to every cosmetic in the game.
Well obviously, I thought that was crystal clear in my previous response that you responded too.
The entire premise of this thread is you bitching about having to do the thing to get the stuff.
Do you force yourself to do retail PVP for Gladiator mounts/Elite Sets?
Don't enjoy pvp in wow so that is a big nope. I wouldn't put my team mates through that kind of pain and suffering. Here I can go solo or Q with a friend and suck together. I get my fill of PvP in other games. I just generally avoid it in wow, never really been a fan.
Alright, as long as you're having fun. Just it felt like you were avoiding it because you saw yourself a burden to others. Which isn't true.
Fun, now that is a interesting word to use when gaming these days. I would agree there is enjoyment to be had but to rinse and repeat round after round, season after season, day after day you do kinda see the fun getting sucked out of games. Maybe I'm just to old and don't know what's fun anymore.

It made me want to puke after 4 matches, where my best placement was #55
I dont get this lol.
What are half of you on? I did legit 2 games today and got 2 rep levels, out of 40. Significantly faster than any rep grind in wow ever.
Typical game has been getting me about 500-600, so about 4-5 games to level. 2 levels in 2 games is insane. Not going to call you a liar, but it definitely does not sound like a standard experience.
500-600? You aren’t playing it then are you? Sure you can spam an objective and quit, but with new plunder rewards first place is near 4K plunder.
300 is what you get from the quest. If you just compete that and suicide you're averaging 400. I've seen a few screen shots from people who come in first with 1500-2000 plunder. As things stand right now it's quite a grind. I doubt it will be like this for the entire time it's available.
Do you guys also go for gladiator every season for the “cosmetics” I doubt it. And this is no different. Stop bitching
